The game is completed, polished and in eglish over in Europe (I have a Scandy friend who plays it) and literally, could be released tommorow. Acclaim has not yet released it... For what? I really want to know, Why this game has been so slow coming to NA for?

The only logical explaination I can come up with is distribution problems but even still, THERE IS NO DOWNLOADABLE BETA? Cmoooonnnnnn

I'm having a hard time wraping my head around this one, since my good friend, has sent me multiple fraps videos of what seems to be an amazing game.

Gahd...

I hate being bored >.>

This has been an issue just about everyone following the game has been frustrated with, and ultimately is why I've given up and moved on. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game, and the backstory is absolutely awesome, but both sides seem to be completely dropping the ball in terms of logistics, and when it does finally get around to launch, I don't see too much long term viability due to likely poor management by Acclaim and general interest already wicking away from the constant delays. Had they been able to release it at the same time globally, and without the region split, I think it would have done fantastic. The way it is now? Just looking at the EU due to the limited playerbase even available to that launch to begin with, I imagine NA will launch, be plagued by issues, and the game will sadly fade within a year or less not for fault of content, but mismangement and lack of marketing.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

Why has the game been so slow for NA release? One word....Acclaim.

Acclaim doesn't care about the fanbase, they don't care about the devs, they don't care about the game. They have choked this game, and I doubt it will ever get the playerbase it coulda had if the devs had gone out n found one decent publisher. Rather than different publishers all over the place.

From what I've seen, read, and watched, this is an amazing game. What I can't wrap my mind around is how the hell Acclaim got a hold of it. Look at their track record for the F2P games they manage. It's autrocious. And here, they've somehow managed to get their grubby hands on a solid looking, interesting P2P game. This does not bode well.

I'm sure the delays cannot be blamed solely on Acclaim though. So many things can happen between point A and point B.  What concerns me is when it finally arrives, will Acclaim simply just bungle it and run it into the ground?

I think the popular opinion at the moment is the best one: make the client global, so where NA and EU players can play together, and just shitcan Acclaim entirely.

 I concur.

The only way Spellborn will live on, is if all the servers are collapsed into one or two servers and started fresh.  Acclaim brings nothing, and offers absolutely nothing to the table, so cut them off.

This game still has the potential to pick up 15-20k paying customers quite easily because of the unique playstyle.

I've played this game and trust me you aren't missing anything great. Aside from the interesting combat everything is pretty much cookie cutter and has already been done to death. This is a typical leveling game.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

How long did you really play then?

Spellborn is not cookie cutter at all... you made it to the main city after picking your House?

edit: Sorry not meaning to poke, but I don't see how it is a typical level game at all. Your character level doesn't actually matter that much except for expanding your deck and giving you more rotations. The PeP levels are throwaway... primarily for PVP. You don't have to level in Spellborn. A level 1 can beat a level 20 if skilled enough.

No offense, but I'd rather play it for myself than take your word for it. Besides, aren't most MMOs more or less cut from the same cloth these days? You're pretty much just choosing what world you want to play in. And at least Spellborn is trying for something original, and not handing us the exact same thing everyone else is.

What everyone else has said is true.  The game is amazing.  It's the most fun I've had in an mmorpg in upwards of 4-5 years.  Acclaim has taken what could've been the best game on the market right now and locked it away, killing off the fanbase and releasing little to no information as to why.  I played on the European servers and loved it, however, as someone in the US I wanted to wait for the NA servers to launch so I had more people in my time zone.  Unfortunately it doesn't look like Acclaim will get this thing rolling very soon and that's a shame.  I really wish Spellborn International LTD. had not signed a deal with Acclaim and just not had an IP ban policy.  Then maybe the devs could make some money off the rest of the world that is locked out of the game and set up some more international servers in different regions.  Acclaim is the reason that this game is dying and that I've given up on it.  Today they changed their website to be near identical to the official website at TCoS.com and announced on the forums that they would be having weekly interactions with the community via voon and other mediums.  If they stick to that promise there may still be hope but I wouldn't count on it.

While I've been really...really patient with acclaim so far, I'm definitely frustrated now. There's absolutely NO reason US shouldn't be playing right now. At least let us play the EU TRIAL until Acclaim gets their shit together.

It's not just US players whining about it either, many EU players on their forums are asking SIL to lift the IP ban, because, apparently, there has been a distinct lack of marketing, and the servers are all but dead.

All Acclaim is doing is losing money for themselves and SIL by taking this long. The game is completed, so let us play it ffs.

I understand that there can be hurdles to be overcome with the launch of any game, MMO or otherwise. The key to keeping your community, however, is to keep them updated on the reasons they're not sitting there playing the game they want to play.

Example: Suba Games acquired the license for Priston Tale 2 for the NA region. This game was supposed to roll out last year, but due to problems between them and Yedang ( the Korean publisher) and localization issues, it has yet to even hit closed beta here. This kind of situation makes for a riotuos community for sure. But Suba has kept them in the know about the progress, even if the info they have for them is vague. And the response, in most cases, has been something to the extent of "Thanks for the update, it's a shame, but thanks for letting us know."

Acclaim could learn something from this. Instead of frantically rushing to get things going (and bungling that effort every step of the way), they should let the community know where the game stands, even if that news isn't something positive. Something so simple goes miles to create a great first impression and to bolster community confidence that the game is in good, competent hands.

So why doesn't Acclaim grasp something so simple?

It's sad when a game is doing poorly because the game itself has problems. It's a tragedy, however, when a game is very polished, original, and just plain brilliant, but is so poorly managed that it never gets a chance to shine.

Spellborn is a primary example of this type of tragedy. Not only does Acclaim fail on every level to communicate effectively with its community, making it seem like they're simply hording the game for no reason at all, but the company that developed and that is running the game in EU is apparently not marketing the game whatsoever. The EU servers are a ghost town, not because the game is bad or has any problems, but becuase no one has heard of it.

The game has great reviews over here in magazines and i was following it for a while, really dig the art direction. However when the IP ban came it died painfully. I am not willing to be forced into some arbitrary country restriction.

As a result international guilds can't play this game together, thats alot of potentially lost subs that is.

Simply I too am voting with my wallet and havent given the game a second glance.  And damn I so wanted the Artbook that woulda come with the preorder ... mebbe I can get that without the game off of ebay :)

Should the IP ban be lifted someone post round 'ere an let me know I don't feel like checkin the official forums anymore.

Shame

Where I'd love nothing more than to see the IP restrictions lifted and people from all over the world playing together, I seriously doubt it will happen. That being unless the game risks going belly-up from lack of subs. But right now? Nah. They'll run it into the ground first, then try to salvage it. I know that's a pessimistic way of looking at the situation, but honestly....

Have they given us any information to have us believe otherwise?
