I tried it but I didn't feel the urge to login and play, and eventually the 30 days ran out. My impressions were only short, but a dungeon and a couple of areas were Everquesty with the mobs, the positioning and the aggro- that was nice. Stuff like diplomacy I thought was just too well 'nerdy'?- as interesting an idea as it was. Lastly an annoyance was losing my trainer and not being able to find him again when I had levelled up. |

And what other games have Adventurine produced? Oh wait... NONE. This is their first. Kind of hard for them to be the worst when they havent even finished producing their first title. In order to be a bad production and distribution company... you need to release a game and show how bad you are. They havent done this yet. Nice try though, think more next time. |

hmm, trying to control my typing to allow for idiots. If the character models are so bad in Vanguard, yet way above Warcraft. Why then are 11 million subs in warcraft if character models are so important? Other reasons may account for the lack of subscribers but an Ugly game is it FAR FROM. Yes I have played it before anyone comes out with another stupid one liner |

Lol World of Warcraft's character models are so much better because artistically they look nicer and animate better. Where as Vanguards look like dolls and just are soo generic and ugly. |

Are the bugs fixed now? Will they raise the level cap? Will they implement more land into the online world?

I've played EQ and EQ2, and I think their character models look better then WoW, which I am playing now. WoW's models look good at a distance, but when you stand face to face with them, they kind of look like a child colored their faces. I do like the game, don't get me wrong, but it's more cartoony then anything. I haven't played VG, just seen screenshots and the models look good from what I've seen. I might try the free trial, and if I like it I'll by it since it is so cheap now, and use the 30 free days from that to see if I'll continue to like it. Too many people play a game based on looks instead of gameplay. I like gameplay before looks, if both are in the game, great.

This is reminding me of the arguments over graphics quality that came out on Vanguards release. Here is a list to give you some idea, best at the top, not so good at the bottom. 1. AoC WAR and WoW suffer from a cartoon style that makes it hard to be as certain of where they should sit. Basically you can’t compare like with like in other MMO’s, but even taking that into account I end up with the list as it is. I have subdivided them into 1 to 3, there is a very big jump going 3 to 2, and a big jump going 2 to1. I am sure some of you will have other ideas :) |

John..zoid dude, An 10 year old can draw WoW graphics. Thats why 11 million people can play it , because they can run it ona computer with a geforce 2 and 512 mb of ram. You picked the one thing that you can argue about with WoW and any other game. WoW does what it does really well. I caters to all. Vanguard caters to a much more select group of people and we are all fine with that. You keep your 11 million and we will keep are 200 thousand quality people. |

Okay I gave it another go and uninstalled it after one minute. I have a high end rig that can run anything on max settings. This game just chugs along with max settings. There is something wrong with the engine. It just does not feel like it is using all of my system's horsepower. It almost feels like the EQ2 engine revamped. Speaking of EQ2, Vanguard also has dreary colors. And the animations sucked, and water looks absolutely brutal. God I hate Vanguard. |

John..zoid dude, lol okay where do I start? The thing about, you know, where anyone with 512 of ram and a Geforce 2 can run Wow, is quite frankly, a very tired and old argument. Try using that system and going into the larger WoW cities using the new shadow upgrade on a 22" monitor with settings maxed. Not gonna happen. Still I would rather take this any day over Vanguard which (much like EQ2) does not seem to take full advantage of your hardware like it should. Not to menation the large, EMPTY world and muddy colored graphics (also like EQ2), the tedious crafting system, flickering graphics, brutal looking water, and flawed Diplomacy mini game and WoW sounds quite good thank you. What does WoW do right? It PLAYS well. It just has the "it" quality that many games lack. Everything is logically where it should be. The engine is nice and fluid. And the animations are the best in the business. Not to mention art deisgn. I am not talking graphics. I am talking art design. Blizzard has great artists. Finally, Vanguard in ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, has 200 thousand subscribers. That is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever read in 20 years of reading internet message boards. Try something more like 50k. |

Even though I liked Vanguard a lot and defended it vehemently until it died from lack of population, I have to agree that the character models are absolutely horrible and the animations are even worse (Yes even after the "Sexy" change). No matter how sweet looking your armor is, you still look like a schmuck with a plastic face and a Barbie/Ken haircut. I can't think of a single redeeming feature when it comes to how characters in VG look or move. IMHO, they should just scrap them and start from zero. The world, though, is a different story. It looks great (Except Thestran building exterior and inside most buildings in the game, where crappiness rules supreme). And a lot of the combat features are cool. And the crafting is amazing. The vast assortment of races and classes is also pretty sweet, and the way they compliment each other. The greatest thing about VG, though, is that it's got a huge, open, non-instanced world without invisible walls etc. I've quit and come back to VG 4-5 times now, because of these features, but every time I end up quitting because the downsides outweigh the good stuff. I can't bare to play a character that just looks like a complete schmuck no matter what. (And I DONT NEED SCREENIES! I know what the coolest uber armor in VG looks like already and it doesnt help lol) I can't stand playing in an empty world. The dungeons are pretty boring (No traps, levers, hidden doors, special effects etc... heck, you cant even CLIMB A LADDER in vanguard hehe) and quests are almost completely kill X boars and bring me y tusks even in the big quest lines like Trengal Keep. These things and many more prevent VG from realizing its huge potential. Trust me, I'm as sad as you are. |

Congrats you win the backpedal of the year award....Mr....Valgar Von Backpedal! Next time, just be careful when you throw subscriptions numbers out there. Don't make up numbers to make the MMO you play seem like it is doing better than it is so more people join up with you; it's bad form. However, what you said is correct. If you are in a fun guild with friends, I dont care if the game has a lousy 10k subscriptions; enjoy it!
