i recently came back and was wondering whether the servers will be merged anytime soon, and if not which server the most populated is atm.
thanks. |

Mark Jacobs said a long time ago that merging servers is the sign of a failing MMO. I doubt they will merge servers until it's too late. |

Didn't they already have free moves from ghost town servers to ones with more players? |

The last time they merged the servers was back in late November (well "emptied empty servers"). Xfire numbers had dropped from 15K (high) to 6.5 K (high) back then. These days (before the slayer patch) Xfire numbers are between 3.3K (low) and 4 K (high). That makes certainly merges an option if the slayer patch doesn't add massively new players. As War is unplayable on low/low servers, expect further server merges in April/May. I guess the game will finally settle out in the summer with 2K and 3K Xfire players. That's roughly the equivalent of 100-150 K subscriptions. I hope by then Games Workshop will negotiate the right to the use of the brand name of Warhammer, because Mythic did a pretty good job of destroying everything Warhammer TT stands for: Namely the best miniature TT game made --- ever. War should have had proper Army identities to begin with, not a mixed bag of Army races who hate each other on the (TT and Lore) battlefields. Mythic just wanted a "Wow" product and bought the War lore without even playing the TT game ... once. After Mark of Chaos, now War and all this doesn't do the fabulous GW games any good !

Not true, one of the first WAR heralds when the game was in beta details a TT warhammer game where the developers play the gates of Ekrund scenario with table top figures. Order won. Cheers! |
Originally posted by ed515 As loke666 mentioned there are/were already "merges" where you can transfer your toon from a dead server to a populated one. I say "are" still because you can still do it. I think it's a smart way to merge servers without the clustering problems we get in DAoC (with the xrealming that followed). If a new player starts today, the "dead" servers are filtered and cant be seen unless you press a button. Besides that I would like to see more transfers options. I had seen some posts about some servers that may need them (they are still too low but I am not sure which are they or if they are still like that). There are two servers that I know are perfect (in the population part): Pheonix Throne and Ostermark. All these applies for UN servers... no idea about EU servers. This is a nice tool to try to see which is the most active server: www.waralytics.com/warservers/index As you can see Dark Crag seems to be the most active/populated one atm. Careful, this data is "toons created" not accounts. Monolith is overrun by destro and I think the server will eventually die, unless some order guilds decide to go there for the "difficult". The rest are, more or less, balanced right now. For example, in Pheonix Throne, I think, we didnt take a fortress yet, and it doesnt seem we will razing any capital in the mid term neither.

Dark Crag, Phoenix throne and Ostermark are pretty evenly spread out I think. Dunno. I play on PT though, and Order outnumbers destro there, though the population is fairly close. It's a good battle through all the tiers any night of the week. Weekends are insane.
