The re-review has peaked my interest. - I like realistic style graphics - I love seamless worlds with no zoning (I can't BELIEVE new games come on the market that still have zoning) - I like complex crafting - I solo often but I like socializing with other players and sharing experiences once in awhile too. This game sounds like a fit but I run Vista 32 Ultimate on an AMD 64 4200 (2.2ghz) with 2 gigs of ram on a 7950 graphics card with 512mb of ram. Can I run this game? I read there's a bug that prevents the weather patterns from showing up on Vista machines. Does it stutter or lag alot? Thanks for the feedback! |

My machine is about the same as yours except for I have a 256mb gfx card not 512. I run the game fine on balanced (middle rang) settings. I have to turn it down sometimes in more populated areas but you probably wont have that problem. But hell the game looks pretty good on the lowest settings and the features make it all worthwhile. Give it a shot! Try the trial at least. Based on what you litsed you wont be dissapointed. Play on Seradon, its the most populated server. My name on there is Fables. playing: darkfall |

No problem to run it with your rigg. The GFX card is kinda old of course (my bet is that you have a AGP slot, and can't uppgrade the GFX card The reasons many games with good GFX have zooning is that high textures takes a lot of memory, and in a open world you have 2 zones inloaded at the same time. Guildwars 2 is supposed to have a solution to that (by the guy who did it in Wow) but it is still a year in the future. |

Thanks for the reply. I wish they would raise the memory requirements then or give the option of performance for higher end rigs in favor of no zoning, at least in safe areas. I'm glad to hear GW2 won't have it. I have a PCIe 16x slot actually, I thought 7800s were the last AGP cards. I just broke down and bought a new one and some more memory so we'll see how far I can take it. I'll post my results here with my current rig and then with the additional memory and new card. |

You should be able to run it fine. Though I would recommend upgrading to windows 7 when it comes out as even in beta it already runs much better than vista.
One nice performance tip for anyone that is pretty simple is that if you have multiple hard drives install Vanguard opposite of whatever HD you have windows installed on. Doing so will improve your FPS quite a bit, if you want to tweak your system even further to push up the graphics there are plenty of tips available on the vgplayers forum.
None of it is needed to play the game, but Vanguard was built with a pretty hefty graphics engine and is able to milk even the newest computers to show off everything it has to offer. |
