Hi, One of the types of classes I really enjoy is pet classes, from everquest's necromancer to anarchy online's metaphys and engineer, also mastermind in city of Villains.
Does this game have any definable pet class (as in a class where you have a bot, elemental, animal as your primary damage dealer and tank)

White Lion & Squig Herder but it doesn't work entirely like in WoW where your pet does all the tanking and you stand back like a wuss and shoot arrows...LOL |

yep, squig Herder. He is kinda like the hunter from WoW. Also the Whitle Lion is a pet dps class. You are a melee class, plus you get a pet Lion to attack aswell. Both are "pet" classes, with full control over your permanent pet. |

White lions are good and squig herders are good. But white lions have "Fetch". Which totally rules. You see a healer or caster in back who is really hurting your group send your lion to fetch them and throw them into your group. Where you then proceed to beating the crap out of. Fetch rules =). |

Right now, the White Lion class is making a lot of enemies, almost as many as the Witch Elves had because of their "Fetch". If you pick a WL class, you may be upset down the line as its a pretty sure bet Fetch will be modified somehow as its causing a lot of havoc and QQing abounds. The Squig Herder is one of the classes no one complains about at the moment, which means its not worried about much as far as damage for the most part. Look for the WL to get a nerf bat and the Squig to get a bolster in the coming months. That might help you to make your decision if you play. |

Dont think your SH class will get a bolster and have made complaits already about this class, the class has a vicious knockback and so does your pet. You also got a nasty snare and DPS has picked up in class. If you like to KITE, SH can be deadly to the opposing force. On another situtation... They gotta do something though about this Magus pets shooting thru walls and placing pets in structures to where you cant attack them (total bullshit).. I understand our Engineer class turrets have the same effect. WE on the other hand is way too powerful, this class makes WE look like pussies.. and also there should be no possible way a WE to take out a tank at equal level with equal equipment. What makes WAR more interesting is the classes they offer and how the other faction slightly differ from their counterparts. DESTRUCTION = Easy Button <imo> .. I know this cause I rolled a Black Orc and Witch Elf to to T3 and loved it. It was easier to find ppl as well to do BO's and Keeps with.. However I like playing the underdog faction and I put more time into my Order than my Destro.. |

I haven't played a pet class in WoW so I can't compare directly but the Squig Herder has a whole range of squig pets and one of them is a very effective tank. I haven't played my SH for several months now but yeah, I found the tanking squig to be my favourite when soloing and used the others in PvP. |

There's also the Magus and the Engineer classes. The Magus summons daemonic Horrors while the Engineer can construct turrets. Both the Horrors are stationary, ranged pets. |

Only thing I don't like about the SH and WL pets are that they don't roam around you. They stand right beside you and move exactly as your character moves.
Don't know about everyone else, but it just really annoys me!

it matters on what you want out of your pet class . would you want something where you can go head first into combat and just wack and smack any squishys around and look cool while doing it , even on npcs lol. or do you want something more like a traditional pet class where you have 2 options for pets , one being a melee dps and the other being a ranged dps, mostly used for pvp , and your other pet be used for simple soloing i will have to tell you about both classes though. neither can have their pet tank for them like a black guard or ironbreaker can and neither pet can out dps any class in the game . as for the enginer and magus, they look cool and all, but i would not say that they are really pet classes because the "pets" / turrets they bring out stay in one place and can not follow you in traditional format and can die pretty fast , they are not meant for tanking at all. nore can they retain agro. so if they were a pet class, then they are complete jokes for a pet class.
the squig hearder, i find to be more fun then the white lion because they have more versatility in terms of going about killing things. but they are weaker in comparison to the white lion himself so thats the trade off.
playing a squig hearder i do have to tell you.. if you find yourself in pvp with him, you will get owned, by every class in the game if you choose white lions, you will own some , but get owned also.

Not to sound like a dick. But its always boggled my mind how someone can make it to the forums and ask a question like this ..... then wait for a response. But you can't find a link to a description of the classes which would answer your question alot faster. If it were a question notso easily answered on a website , I would understand. |

Ah it 's nice to get an easily answerable question, don't be to hard on the guy/gall :) The while lion class is probably one of the cooler classes in Order, while the Squig Herder is one of the funniest classes for Destruction. Not only do you get a really annoying pet, but you get Squig Armour too, and nother beats the fun of charging Order as a giant squig , for the 10 seconds before every Bright wizard in the zone fries your bum :) That's not to say, there isn't pathing issues, and naughty pets; although my missus squigs do seem so much more behaved these days:) Also there are "turret" pets too (for engineer / magus?). These class are harder to play well, since your pet doesn't move, but they provide an interesting challenge to the player that likes a bit of difficulty in their game :) |

I quit WAR awhile back, but i can tell you if your looking for that type of pet class you will disapointed in WAR. and No the SH is NOT even close to being a pet class not to mention the static skin on each pet!

the squig hearder is the closes thing to a traditional pet class in warhammer, although what sabutai33 mentioned is correct in terms of being anyway shape or form as powerfull as the pet classes from thoese mmos you mentioned.. most likely case in terms of a pet class that would be like the necro or master mind .. you will have to wait when vampire counts come out and they add the necromancers in it. thats maybe a year or 2 before they ever do that. but if i were you id choose the squig hearder. they are the most versitaile pet class in warhammer, they have a caster pet, a tank pet and a melee dps pet , and they can be used for diffrent types of groups. the pet class is good with the help of a healer to take bos. the caster pet is good for defending a keep and the melee pet is good for pqs or scenarios , |

If you played WoW...Hunter=Squig Herder except without traps and mainly a ranged dependant class. Purpose in life is not to gain things, but experience. - Rover64dd |
