Hi, I been trying out this game all day for the first time, there is something I very much like about this game,I'm not sure what yet, but I was wondering if the upgrade pack for $19.95 (us) is worth it for this game, i mean will it upgrade the visuals abit,( I installed the small client) besides adding in new maps and so forth, what other improvements will it add over the small client install, i know this mite seem a strange question to some,

anyway thanks for any answers/replies I get.

It's 20 bucks, I say go for it. That's cheaper than most other AAA titled games out there. Anarchy Online is very unique qith large amounts of combat, engaging worlds, and deep roleplay and community. So by all means go for it.

The upgrade package adds tons of content, two more playable classes, more areas to explore, and more skills and the research system.

Cool, but how about the graphic's, I won't say there ugly, but the words, "abit bare" or, "dated" come to mind, I can imagine that the armor and weapons start to look a bit better as I get higher up in level, low level armor and weapons always look crap when starting out, but dose the upgrade pak update the geometry, animation, collision registers etc...

Also how big a download is the upgrade pack? , (I'm stuck with a download limit)

No, not really. They are currently working on a graphics engine update, but as far as I know, still in the works. I'm not sure how large the download is. It should tell you when you go to download/purchase it. If anything, go ask on Anarchy forums, they would know more on that than we would here.

Thank's for your replies JKnight1, I'll most likely play with the quick install for awhile and see how far that takes me, then get the update at a latter date, I'll check over on funcom's forums latter for download size, the size of the update will most likely determine when I buy it, anyway I was just wondering, thank's again.

The current full client is about 1.7gb. It updates to 17.9.1. The game is at 17.10.5. Updating to that would add another 15mb or so. you will not be able to update the small client to the large client. You will need to install the large client.

You will not be able to post on the Anarchy Online forums without a paid subscription.

If you are thinking of upgrading to a paid subscription you really need to download the large client asap.

Graphics are identical for all players, free or subscribing, though The Shadowlands is a bit spiffier.  Graphics engine has been in the works for over a year and current release date is middle of 2009.

Actually I did download and the large client and installed it, then bought the upgrade pack, was happilly playing untill today, when I got an email, telling me my account has been frozen, due to lack of payment, I thought the upgrade came with 30days of game play?, so I'm off to funcom forums/support to find out what's going on, (considering I've only been playing  for three days) I'll check back latter to let tell you how it turned out.

AO is one of my favorite MMOs to date. I didnt like Shadowlands all that much when it was released, but I hear they made it a lot better since the release of AI.

This is one of the reasons I was hoping AoC would do fairly well. I hoped that if AoC did ok subs that maybe they would look into making a new AO game.

Hopefully with Gaute gone AoC can start to right itself and maybe we will get another AO sometime down the road...

Hi again, can someone please tell me how long the Free to play last's and can some also please post a link to the page that has the upgrade offers on, I can't find it again.

It seems that they never took my CC payment and never sold me the upgrade pak and didn't tell me about it as well,  I don't get it I thought you could only play the shade or a keeper if you bought the upgrade packs? - ( I have a Shade charcter and a keeper charcter and i've played them both. )

Fee 2 play seems to have a very short time limit on it, 3 to 5 days, (is this right?) and what part of AO is free to play?

thank's for any info!

Should be 30 days, but it wouldn't be the first time Funcom added a digit or left one out somewhere.

I believe the email address you need to write to is accounts@anarchy-online.com.

(The upgrade offers are posted on the accounts page at register.funcom.com)

If you play without expansions as a fr00b you can expect that deal to continue on indefinitely. When you buy an expansion you can from what I remember get a one week (7 day) trial plus would get 30 days (the 7 days come out of this I think though) of paid play time tagged on. You would still need to sign up for the recurring subscription and pay up front, the 30 days would just be tagged on to that. Try looking in the AO FAQ on the main site, pretty sure that is talked about there.

As for where to look for current deals and order them log into your "my account" page and look under the upgrade offers section.
