Wakfu

That's the name of the MMORPG that will set us free from levels.......sorta.

YOU(the character) don't have a level but your spells do.And...you know what just read this link and it will explain everything

http://www.wakfu.com/en/discover/features/9-new-class-spells

Ya right there. And here's the home page:

http://www.wakfu.com/en

and here's a full page of features that will be in it:

http://www.wakfu.com/en/discover/features

and here's a nice little page with all the classes in it:

http://www.wakfu.com/en/discover/classes

If you've played dofus then the game would make more sense but even if you haven't it still looks pretty good

Looks good and all but you can't be sure until its finally released...whenever...been a while....since like 2007 maybe?....still it looks like its almost done....ya...so...maybe you should look at it.....kthx....bai

Do you think that they have a good system going without levels?

Meh, Id rather give the new UO engine a spin. Or play Ryzom. Or continue waiting for darkfall.

playing: darkfall
waiting: earthrise

Dofus arena was supposed to be free pvp version of dofus (wakfu?).

Btw. topic name leads to misunderstandings.

They dropped the idea of the game not having character levels a long time ago. It now has a lvl 200 cap for character lvls just like Dofus.

Also many things from the web pages are grossly out of date or are still things they want to put in, but haven't managed to yet.

I don't understand why I've never heard of this game.  It completely slipped under my radar, and has some very original and interesting ideas.  Dl'ing the beta now.  Hopefully I remember some french from high school.

A game based around not having levels, that says it has levels?  Even if your description were right and the official site wrong, having to grind levels in a bunch of things is hardly superior to having to grind levels in only one.

If you want an MMORPG without levels, try Puzzle Pirates.  It kind of has levels, I guess, but the levels don't make you stronger.  It might well take you quite a while to figure out what the levels do.

It has levels.  Just uses a different system of leveling. On the website it states:

  • "In Wakfu, the experience you gain hunting monsters will push your competence in combat to higher levels. You'll be able to undertake training in a completely independant way, with over 100 levels for each spell.  "
