Posted by the Dutch CM today:

So far there are no plans to change the publisher for Scandinavia, so it will stay under Mindscape wing for now.

As for the IP issue in general, we are aware of the community opinion on the matter, as well as our publishers. I do not have any definite news to share about it at this point, but we are looking for some sort of improvement.

Seriously tho. The best that can happen to this game. Especially in these competitive and harsh economic times, is for the Publishers to stick their heads together, come to agreements and publish and host the game together in whole Europe and NA together under one United flag!

It will also sertainly bring back a lot of people from the old community who will be giving this game a second chance.

A lot of people turned their back on this game the day the IP bans and Territory split-ups were announced.

So let's hope on some wise decisions here and good actions to be taken very soon!

Let's cheers on that!

All they need to do is have the billing be separated by territory. Leave the servers available to anyone anywhere.

Exactly. Have seperate billing sites per publisher / territory, but have one UNITED set of servers everyone can join.

Would be the best solution ever really.

Clearly the problem here is the company had very limited funds and couldn't do some proper advertising (although look at Darkfall, they did very little advertising, yet the hype is one of the biggest in mmo history). I'm sure very few players actually ever heard about this game. Therefore they couldn't find a better publisher (one that publishes for the whole Europe at least) and they settled for this compromise.

Quite a shame really, It's a great game, fun and immersive, but I foresee they're gonna close it somewhere in the near future

i doubt a game of this grade is going to close, they might not be huge, it might take a long time but i doubt they will close it down.

The thing with darkfall is that it has been in development for 7 years, that is a lot of time to build hype. Look at nuke nukem forever. At around the 5 year mark it had massive following and continued for years after it.

Spellborn does need to do more advertising, i couldn't agree more with that.

There could be a need to separate people by language somewhat.  It's awfully hard for people to work together if they speak no common language.

After spending a couple years hanging out with foreigners from all over the world while in Thailand, I don't think I ever met a single person under the age of 40 that couldn't speak relatively good English. The kids learn English pretty much everywhere these days.

Playing MMOG's that rely on English is also a great way to learn the language. That is exactly what my wife did.

I disagree. In EVE we have all sorts of players who speak almost no English, (entire alliances in fact) and yet we manage to ally with or fight against them all the time.

I recall my days back in DAOC, our server MLF, became very popular for Japanese players. (can't remember why).  I was a pure healer, and one day I got invited to a group with 7 other Japanese players, and outside of a few simple words like come, or go, or heal, they knew no English.

Well they took me deeper into a dungeon in SI than I had ever been before, to areas I'd never seen before (and only once after) and the entire time we couldn't speak at all.  They were all talking quite a bit in Japanese, but I went along for the wonder of the ride and in the end we parted company friends.  Their leader always used to send me private tells with a simple, "hello, how r u today" message, and I'd reply something simple back.  Was a great time.

Another day, I teamed up in a dungeon with a player who spoke only French, and he used an French-English translator on the internet to speak with me.  Was a bit slow and halting, and we laughed a whole bunch.

Finally, my favorite guild that I was a member of on that server was primarily all Norweigens, and though they all spoke English, they frequently spoke in guild chat in their native language and I would always take the opporutunity to offer my own 'translations' of what they were saying, like "Jorge said, he really enjoys wearing pink thongs under his armor, but it chaffes' a bit"

OK, long boring stories aside, I've had a great time playing with people from around the world, and I really don't think its mandatory to segregate everyone, even if we don't have a common language.

This is exactly what Online gaming and especially MMORPG's were about. Bringing people together online from all over the world.

That's why the Eclypse server in SWG (pre-CU / NGE) had one of the best communities. We had people from all over the world. Every minute of the day there was something going on.

People didn't care if someone had trouble speaking english. People were friendly and tried their best in communication and it was a blast.

With all the segregration these days within MMORPG's the true community spirit is slowly dying along with it.

Wich is a shame. And TCOS is a prime example of how you can destroy a whole community with bad publisher deals and IP bans.
