They actually gave some hints at classes for the game. This is a wind up to something I think, next week, video trailer showing them in action, next month, class unveiling. |

Oh God.. This game looks so bad. jesus christ. Look at those mountain. The scenery. It is sooo world of warcraft like.
Gaaah.. I can't believe so many SWG fans have been waiting for this. Im glad I never did. This is pathetic. I hail SOE for fighting Lucasarts and keeping at least some of the SWG spirit and continue to work on it.
This game is total bs. These screens prove it. its a wow clone. its exactly what Lucasarts wanted with the NGE. Their broad playerbase. .. a dumbed down cookie cutter themepark mmo. tskt sk.. wonderful. Just wonderful.
TOR sucks. .. Open your eyes. SWG lives. The EMU is dead. TOR is a let down. But SWG is being updated and they are improving the game with every patch. Populations are stable and climbing at certain seasons of the year. SOE made a terrible mistake, but they made up for it a long time ago and they are going strong. |

Those graphics look horrible. The lightsabers don't look right(blades to short and handle to big) while the landscape lacks punch. I know graphics aren't the be all in a good game, but geez, the clone wars series looks more real than that. If you don't want to play the game, don't bore everyone by stating as much. Just don't play and move on because nobody cares to hear a soapbox. |

I'm actually happier to see "cartoony" graphics than I would have been with photorealistic renders; but then I focus on the gameplay and am generally too busy to notice the pretty scenery in games very often. As long as it has a good frame-rate, great development/support and gameplay then I'm a happy wookie. |

It doesn't even look as good as WOW in my eyes. The landscape in WOW kills what I just saw in those screens. It just doesn't seem to have any detail nor depth. And saying that it's because they're going for low end systems is bull because LOTRO doesn't require a high end system, but yet is able to pull off graphics that make TOR look like pong. If you don't want to play the game, don't bore everyone by stating as much. Just don't play and move on because nobody cares to hear a soapbox. |

Hurm, I really had to look at them a 2nd time, but I dont see it looks so much like WOW. Sure, I too would prefer a more realistic look, but then, if we get a vast open world in exchange its ok. Its difficult to judge a MMO from screenshots. In real it can "feel" quite different. For instance, I hated WOW graphics (speaking of landscape here) but when I finally tried it out, it didnt look that bad. Sure, no killer either, but its hard to say. Same with LOTRO, it looked better in real than in the screenshots. I say, we should wait and see the real thing. Generally I think its ok so far. Not thrilling me out of my shoes, but ok. |

SWG does not live. Its terrible. Go play second life if you want a sandbox. These graphics are stylized and awesome, IMO they aren't far off from the types of graphics used in KOTOR, if more exaggerated, but I like that. Look at Team Fortress 2, for example. One of their goals was to make every class easily identifiable by their appearance, and the weapons as well. It worked out extremely well there. Besides, they still have a very Star Wars feel to them, much more than standing in a bland desert with three models of player houses all around you and killing animals in the wilderness. |

I really fail to see how calling a game a WoW clone is an insult. Mabey you havent noticed but WoW is the most successful game on the MMORPG market. Problem is so many of you think it is "the cool thing to do" to bash the game that you fail to see it. All the games you hoped would topple WoW have failed, time you learn that the players want a game that is fun to play not just fun to look at. Old Republic is looking great to me and I cant wait to play. Bioware is a proven company and something need to step in to replace the dead horse that SWG has become. |

Ah-hahahaha. Videogames like MMOs have been abusing their emote animations for years to make it look like you can do all sorts of things. I would be surprised if they had a cover system in the game....hardly any FPS games even have one. |

First of all, no one brought up SWG but you. Second of all, that is a horrific screenshot of SWG that was either taken with a horrible graphics card or changed in some way. Here is a real picture of what lightsabers looked like in swg...
So far the graphics, or "art style" in TOR iscompletely uninspiring, childish, and unfitting for the Star Wars universe. They should have just stuck to the graphics they used in KotOR. The sad thing is, SWG being 5 years old looks better than the new TOR screenshots. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

If you don't like it, then why are you here complaining about it then? Plenty other games are coming out. |

They look fine to me...an abundance of color is a good thing. There are way too many devs out there this gen that are only using black grey and white way to much. It just seems they think every game must have that post-apocalyptic look or something. Nor does it look anything like WoW as someone above said, and as far as not having much detail or depth yet to another....these are pre-production screens. Long before substantial flora, fauna, lighting, and other small details are added in.
I'm actually looking forward to this one cause we do need a good Star Wars MMO, and besides has Bioware ever made a crappy game? None that I can think of....loved em all! |

So it apparently is perfectly fitting for the star wars universe. |

The Monkey Island series (LucasArts) had cartoon graphics; I enjoyed all three of those games. MI3 was the most absurd, and one of the best. Solving the puzzles in that game playing thru the first time with no cheats was fairly challenging and fun.

I agree with you, graphics are definitely not everything, and not even the most important feature of a game. But, graphics do induce some immersive feelings. I am going to feel much more immersed in a Star Wars game if it actually looks like Star Wars(the movies). Not extremely awesome graphics, but realistic models, textures, ect. I wouldn't care really if the graphics were the only things that aren't how I think they should be, but it's more along the lines of "just another" thing that I think they are doing wrong. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |
