Giving the game the benefit of the doubt does not mean to preorder it. You can buy it after you try it yourself, listen to a friend's opinion on it, and so on.

And we shouldn't be grateful for Aventurine, we do not owe them jack. They also don't owe us. But this is a business, it's like someone said, they're not in this for charity.

Every game being released out there with a different premise if compared to the titles dominating the market is not on a crusade of self-righteousness to please as most people as possible. Chances are that people want a piece of the pie, because in the MMORPGs case, competing with the mainstream appeals is going to be tough, even more for an indie company.

Get them off  this holy pedestal you've created  and let them prove what's Darkfall themselves.

Yeah yeah we heard it all before, no one agrees with how AV is running this show but despite that they have have every right to run as they see fit and we have every right to not invest.

What kills me is posters maintaining there is no game. Of course there is a game. Testers are in beta and leaks are mixed about the quality of the game.  You can continue to post nonsense if you like but it just makes you silly and biased. A little reason and caution goes a long way.

1 night at the bar 50$. I am 99% sure that I am guranteed a good time. 50$ on an MMO granted a lot of play time in a month, but when/if i quit after a month I am leaving pissed off. Like AoC. I would much rather have my 115$ back from AOC (got the CE+1 month sub) and spend 115$ at a bar for 1 night.   When I buy an MMO I plan to play it for a while.

I don't ever "plan" on playing an mmo past its first month. if it hooks me, which only 1 has ever since UO, all the better.

I will never pre-order a mmo or buy a mmo without a trial run anymore! Have been burned too many times w/ bad releases. If they don't have the money to start a good launch it should never been launched, imo. I don't feel I need to be the first one in, and can wait to hear the reviews and other players have to say before I play another mmo. I want a fun, quality mmo. It shouldn't happen on my dime. If they create a fun mmo, they I'll pay the monthly fee to play it.

I have a feeling Darkfall is not ready for release. Ready for release should be a completed quality game and not when the money runs out. But if they ever have a free trial period, I will try it and go from there.

besides. if you pre-order you also give them more money so they can set up more servers, run the game for a longer time if it turns out to get into difficulties.

You even get to play the game for like a week or so prior to the release. I think that's pretty neat.

I think it was more of a smart @SS thread to make fun of  "Be a smart consumer", which told consumers not to pre-order.
