I have a glancing interest in this game.  I no longer get my hopes up when I hear of a new MMORPG.  When I do hear of something I think I will enjoy I like to get the facts first.  I am bipartisan when it comes to Darkfall.  If it's a success I'll be happy and if it's a failure *shrug*  - it's not my money.

From this post you seem to have all the facts about Aventurine and Tasos.

Please post links with regards to the statements you listed above.  I'm not interested in your conjecture or speculation - I want facts.  Since you've put yourself out there and a person 'in the know' I don't think it will be too tough for you to prove what you said and back it up with real evidence.

I'm sure everyone reading this would benefit more from your insight if you posted the links where you got your ideas from.

i think what they need is money.. they dont have the capacity to handle the hype..

as long as the game isnt released, the community cant bring in any.. investors can.. but if they go out and tell the community the game is far from complete after claiming it was complete, how many investors do you think they can get..

its obvious they got far more hype than they can handle.. i think they planned to just have one server and a small community.. and if it was a success and they only used word of mouth it would only expand gradually, so they could expand with it..

but now they have potential customers for 5 servers and no money to support it..

so they buy a bit of time.. either, with luck they get a new investor.. or the community gets pissed and leaves, so they can go back to plan A (build up from one server)..

i know the second option sounds totally retarded.. but if 90% of the community left they would have no problem handling it.. and we all know that no matter how much you hate em right now and how shure u are you would never give tasos a dime, we would all be back in no time if the game was alive and kicking

or C: everything is going fine, they just think the average interweb kidz are spoiled brats who should go to their rooms and shut up till dinner is served

this is the right attitude. there are tons of poorly informed and downright clueless trolls hovering around Darkfall atm.

I suggest reading the informations linked in the stickies in this forum and deciding for yourself whether this game is for you or not.

It's certainly not going to be for everyone, but then it's not trying to be.

I love the people who are lying about being in beta in this thread.

So cute. They want their baby to succeed so much they think pretending to be in beta gives us skeptics hope.

Please give me an example of a game developer like Tasos, who for the last many years has made promises--when he rarely does bother to communicate--about betas starting and release dates that he's never kept, suddenly opening up and comimg clean with the fanbase of his project?  It will NEVER happen.

Couldn't agree more with you on this.

But given Tasos's track record I don't think he will admit the true status of the game.  I can't help but think that *maybe* if a man like Tasos wasn't in charge of handling community relations, followers of the game wouldn't be nearly as suspicious( and some as furious) as they are now.

If he would say something along the lines of  "In the past we have not been completely honest with our community and sometimes have flat-out lied to you all. We truly apologize for this and we will strive to provide you with accurate information and dates in the future."  --Ok well that's a big-ass stretch but just something remotely like that would give me loads more respect for Aventurine(I'm not that hard to win over)

But, to tell you fair, after what happened in last days and how things are going with the management around DF, i dont think they can handle it. They cant handle the servers/customers.

And yeah, i've seen the videos over and over... i tell you, dont be surprised if the game come out, and you will discover:

- game play sux

- missing feature/<insert whatever you want here>

- unfinished zones/items/<insert whatever you want here>

Even if you like the game concept, you cant play an unfinished game. If you can, go play UA.

Time will answer to our questions...

simpe request to all you "beta" players.  Take a screenshot of the launcher, allong with this page where it shows yoru login name in the upper right.  The excuse of "don't want to break NDA" goes out the window since you've already said you're in beta, thereby breaking it.  presumably you believe your anominity is safe here which if your user names don't match i guess you are, and therefore have no reason not to do this.

This will shut up the naysayers...but otherwise, I think it's pretty reaosnable to assume you've succumbed to Tasos and are infact, lying yourself.

One thought I have is that I'm doubtful any beta tester at this point could vouch for the games completeness. With features having been 'turned off' previously, and a supposedly broader beta only going on for two days now - are you really telling us you've seen the hundreds of skills available, plumbed the depths of the extensive crafting system, built cities etc.? Or are you telling us instead that you went out with a couple of newb skills and killed 20 Gnolls. And everything seemed to work just fine.

I do hope Darkfall delivers, but I'm certainly not pre-ordering until I feel I have the lowdown.

The fanbois are so desperate to prove this game is real. If there really were clan invites going out we would have already seen leaked reviews and video clips.

After 8.5 years in development there is no way everyone would keep quiet because of an NDA. Ive been following MMO's for 10 years and not once have I seen a game have zero leaks.
