Ok, this is really dumb. With release date set, preordering behind the door, you still think this game is vaporware? Well, I rather think your brain is vaporware.

Fanboi is not a word, it is just bad grammar.

The pre order is a money scam, so I'm going to wait til 6 months after. Already got friends who will invite me in their city so I don't have to worry about getting left out of anything if this game exists. The company hasn't got a good track record.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

The only difference between a Troll and a Fanboi is which side of the fence they stand on.

Yes, but it was postponed, those things happen.

Postponed twice in less than 2 months don't happen. Unless it's scamware

wasn't the same ALSO said by "end of the year"? ...last year?

When do we get to flip the switch?  How many times do the fanboi's garuntee us a launch (downtoearth I'm looking at you) before we finally get to say "Again?  3 Strikes and your out."

PROFESSIONAL MMO Developers delay games all the time... I know it, you know it, other gamers know it, other developers know it...
The difference is that they don't wait till within a week of the date to do it, they do it a month (or longer) before hand when they realize there's a problem.

When was the last time you saw ANY MMO Development House refer to their game as "Feature Complete" or "Ready to Launch" before a Public Beta?
Never, normally with about 1-3 months to go you see Development Houses saying something akin to "We've cut this feature and this City/Region/thing till later patches or Expansion."  Why?  Because they're being realistic... and they'd get eaten alive if they refered to their game as "Complete" when obvious (Major) features, listed on the Features Page of the official website, were missing (or "turned off") at launch.

With a month to go we expect to see that... they're not giving that.  The reason is they made one major flaw:

They used an absolute.  They said everything was 100% and ready to go... Programmed, tested, bug fixed.  They didn't leave themselves any wiggle room (which they were so akin to doing)...

It's not the delay I'd think people would be upset about, or attacking... it's the fact that no matter how many times they say it's ready to go, and has been tested by professionals and AI bots that the DoD (that's our US Military) couldn't make work, the followup reports are starting to backpedal as announced days close into within a week.

Recap: (for tldr people)

It's not "Feature Complete" - if it is, they need to tell us what features are complete.
It's not "Ready to Launch Today" - if it is, run a real Open Beta... or hell, launch.
You're "Not Prepared for the amount of Closed Beta Applicants" - There are entire websites dedicated to freeloading off of Betas, no Beta ever gets under 100k Beta Applicants, most easily reach 250k or more.
And don't forget "Logistics" - That billing system would be a nice thing to have, so would the rights to the name worldwide.

PS: Torrenting your client looks pretty amateur... can't you afford another housing in a load center so people can grab the client like normal?

Not that I know, I only know they had postponed various beta dates. As far as I know, this is the first time they postpone a release date.

But I have not been folowing this fishy buisness for a year yet, so I can't be sure what promisses have all been broken. Reading these forums I expect there are many.

My switch is already set to scamware, if I was a loyal fan, I estimate that I would be extremely  after feb 25.

For the number of times that SOE has destroyed the game I loved, even after it was very clear it was not what the majority wanted, I feel that they should start making donations to us- Paradox (SWG)

Excellent recap.  Spot on really.  I think we will all be looking back on the DF phenomenon in a few months with amusement.  The fanbois will be starting new accounts on this website, and the skeptics will be discussing an interesting social experiment.

Seriously people stay with the times.   Torrenting is the most efficient and fastest way to move large data files to many users.   Using torrents is cutting edge not amateurish.  However, I agree with everything else that was stated.

If the torrenting is built into the launcher (like WoW or some such)?  Yes, it is very efficient.

To tell people "you need to go download utorrent to get our game, then save the file, wait for people to seed it to you when they know how to cap their uploads, find the file on your HDD, then you can install."

What they're saying is they didn't build a launcher/patcher that does it automatically... how will the patches be distributed?  By Torrent?

If a fan were to ask this on the website and they said "Downloaded directly from the server." would it not also be fair to assume they could host the client along side it as well?

Will this be another, unforeseen, Logistical problem?

Well I think you mostly just whined.  Why didn't you just flip the switch?  Why are you still concerned with this game?  It sounds to me like you are over it.  Are you upset because other players still follow the game, and hope for its success?  Are you mad that they just haven't stopped developing it and said, 'Sorry we just made too many mistakes and we are giving up now.'?

What the heck do you want?  I am sorry that I am excited about this game, and hope for the best.  I think it shows great promise.  Sorry I am not flipping the switch.  Please, by all means, flip the damn switch.

I'll tell you exactly what I'm "concerned" about:

I used to CM for a company who made the same bogus promises... I was pushed into spinning the same tales and whatnot, because "that is your job".
When the game was 'put on hold', and we switched to another game, I had to spin THAT too.
When that game was looking grim, and we switched back, I had to spin that.
When there was a change in management, and THAT game was canceled, I had to downright lie to try to save the companies face...

...then I was fired.

I know the game (not Darkfall, but spinning words) that MMOs play from both side... I know what's possible and what isn't, and I can see through the bullshit now far greater then I could imagine as a gamer.

Because of that experience before, and 2 experiences afterwards in the game industry, I'm looking out for fellow gamers now more then I'm believing what I read.

I know all the tricks.
