Well it's by another game developer for one that should be an indication that it will have nothing to do with Galaxies.

For your other questions, I don't think anyone knows.

It will be PvE based, solo story centric with PvP battlegrounds for when people get bored of killing npc's.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was like Guild Wars. Instanced missions with public area for grouping, and socializing etc. Although I am a fan of open sandbox worlds, a well done game like this is also is a lot of fun.

The question is though, that if is like Guild Wars are subscriptions justified?

I would have to say that the answer is no.

This game looks nothing like Galaxies... Maybe if you played Galaxies after NGE it will look somewhat similar (because basically the SOE team saw WoW's success and said "hey, let's just rip that off verbatum."

So yeah, from what the devs are saying it sounds like KotoR online.

i dunno about the battlegrounds part. i don't doubt they will have some sort of instanced PvP, but capture the flag isn't exactly much of a hero/story feeling that Bioware is trying to strive for.

perhaps they may just have zones instead that are open PvP grounds that have objectives? who knows.

alot of people don't like to admit it. but when the game was first announced, like a month later they were talking about SWG and TOR, 1 dev from Bioware specifically said SWG had some excellent concepts that they would like to implement into TOR.

no indication what concepts those were. if anything, im hoping its the crafting/gear system personally.

sadly, very little is actually known about SWTOR at this point. People telling how the game "will be" are speculating, nothing more.

We know there will be an involved story system, and a bit about that story.

Other than that, no one knows a damn thing. If you want to try to get a grasp of what we might be looking forward to, check out the compiled interviews at SWTOR.com.

Yeah, me too. The crafting system, and the aspects it allowed (Player housing etc.) is still not overshadowed by any western mmog I know off (But I hear Vanguard allows something similar, atleast housing and boat wise)

I've always wondered why they didn't rip SWG's good points off sooner.

I would have to say depends on how its done. I have heard stuff about story driven ETC. Possibly somehow the developers evolve the story along according to what players are doing. I imagine keeping that up would cost them a bit every month and would be worth the subscription. It's just an idea, I have really no reason to believe this to happen.

Where do you get the idea it's anyhting like GW? Nothing I'd read/heard indicates this by any means. GW2 may also have a way of getting people to pay. it's not like GW1 is free after all.. The only reason no monthly fee is justifiable is because there is little content over all and very little content updates, you have to pay for that.

TOR is supposed to have more content then all Bioware games combined.... Whether at launch or later on it's an indication they don't intend to skimp on stuff to do. Which indicates there will be some sort of business plan in place.

Would a septic tank still be a septic tank if you thoroughly cleaned it out and used it to plant a rose garden?

Perhaps the better question is would a "cleaned up" SWG still be SWG?

like someone else asked, then will it have a subscription?

If they plan on going this route (which, judging from what's been clued at so far, I'd agree seems like a good guess), I'd rather play Guild Wars 2 if they plan on charging $15 bucks a month.

If only SW:TOR could be this epic...

You should actually read the post before replying to it, the key word in it was "if" and i was replying to someone that thought it would be similar to GuildWars.

Um...no. It does seem to to be trying to capture WOW's audience like SWG did with the cheap graphics and story driven campaign.. But I don't foresee the combat system being a FPS laughfest like SWG has. I also see a much better and interesting story line than what SWG tried to do with the NGE. Those were in my opinion the most boring quests I ever played in a game. The makers of TOR have a proven track record of good storytelling in their games.

If you don't want to play the game, don't bore everyone by stating as much. Just don't play and move on because nobody cares to hear a soapbox.

i actually think, due to the story driven aspect of the game, it will not cater to the wow crowd. WoW players (no offense, seriously) are totally gear centric (imho), and this game seems to me alot more about developing your character and his/hers story.

And frankyly, for a game not even in beta, the newest screenshots look amazing, but again, that is my opinion.
