If many of you watching info and who have been following this game prolly remember dark and light.  It started development around the same time Darkfall.  Beta kept being delayed........  all the alpha beta testers and fan boi's kept bousting on how great of a game it was going to be.........  I got into beta myself.........  Open beta was delayed.......  I could hardly play the game fps was crap..  The graphics were good in game like the video's the flying was cool and that was about it.....  Once open beta came the game was about to be released it was the same poor coding that was in alpha....  I remember watching this game from 2001 too looked a lot alike..  This game has been in development even longer and still no beta wow......  Makes me wonder if this is the same thing happening here that was in Dark and Light.  Once beta comes and it's all together unplayable then there won't be any fans of this game.  I have been in almost all the major mmorpg beta's and its a bad sighn that there is still no beta.  Why not take a poll on this.

you forgot the option "we will wait until the 22nd for the free trial to see if it's vaporware or not"

We will find out more and more if they are similar depending on how they handle the pre-release/beta purchases. From the history of Darkfall I have a feeling noone will be playing the game unless they pre-purchase and when they do (they won't say it but) pre-purchasers will be testing open beta and encouraged to report bugs.

So . . . the games are the same . . . except for the fact that:

1.)  They both started developement at the same time . . . yet one was prematurely released and the other is barely going into beta.  (Wouldn't that be a good thing for the one just starting beta?)

2.)  The games looked alike in 2001 but not anymore (once again . . . isn't that a good thing?)

  Might want to work on the trolling skill there.

It might be more appropriate to start with a thread asking posters in this forum if they understand this phrase;

Regardless of the game being in the same state as Dark and Light there is a free trial period so players won't get shafted unless they pay the pre-order.

Dark and Light was pretty devoid of content. I've heard through the grape vine that Darkfall is a decent game. Not great, but decent. It's a PvP game, so much of the content is wandering around killing each other, and for that you need lots of people.

A lot of people have been wanting a good PvP game, so there's a good chance of getting some decent sub numbers. If that' happens, that's half your content right there, so the game may do ok.

People can be entertained by killing and looting each other for quite some time.

dark and light had so much potential but they really screwed it up.

Great ideas .. but horrible game

Copy/pasting the rants of a tiny and disgruntled minority of MMO-gamers into a feature list doesn't equal potential.

Incidentally that's exactly what Aventurine did as well.
