Somebody bookmark this thread so we can bring it back to the top of the list on the 22nd when this guy is still sitting, twiddling his thumbs wondering why he didn't get into round two of the friends, family and paid shills trial.

People need to just learn to wait and watch instead of make up conjecture and opinion based on words and info given, no matter how large or little. They said open trial to as many as they can. That doesn't say to me "Invite Only". It says "First come, first serve". That's what I expect.

I expect to see something the 22nd. They havn;t said anything to the contrary, past history aside. Just deal with the fact that *gasp* the game you revile so much is near it's coming.

Edit: I said anyone, not everyone. Anyone meaning any player who wishes to try it, not just beta applicants, friends/family, etc. Everyone would mean all could try it without limit. BIG difference.

read the quote. nowhere did they say it IS open, only they are opening beta up. they have said they are opening beta up many time before when talking about the closed beta.

edit: quote:we’re going to start opening up the beta to more and more testers on or around November 10th

I thought you said you weren't a fanboy?  "Whatever" - a classic comback from somebody so entrenched in his beliefs, but completely unable to provide a valid rebuttal when faced with logic and facts.    Resorting to childish retorts in the face of reason makes you the moron, not us.

Yeah, go ahead an compare me to that cult. Sure People can express themselves as much as they want, how that equates to me being a scientoligist, boggles my mind. Being they are a super secretive group. And only Tom Cruise has been vocal, and we all know he's just a pawn.

Yeah, we will see. And if i'm not sitting her twiddling my thumbs, what are you gonna do?

Edit: No, it doens't make me a fanboy. I'm just tired of this pointless crap all you trolls spout. If it were any other game i'd be just as vocal. Attempting to discredit, destroy, and undermine a game for some redundant, arbitrary reason is both moronic, selfish, and childish.

I'm done here. Like I said, i'll be enjoying Darkfall on the 22nd. Enjoy.

Simple. Most of the fanboys that were the forefront of promoting and putting faith in Darkfall have come to their senses once Tasos gave them new BS on the 15th. It would seem like you still struggle to keep your faith and place fillers into Tasos' poor choice of words and bad PR. To believe what you want, because it keeps you going.

So what am I going to do? Watch you fall.

No you won't, it is that simple. If the client is truly 18 gigs and is going to be released via a Torrent, it needs to be made available now. Sign-up and billing needs to be done NOW. The details of the process need to be done NOW.

If it is indeed remotely "open", you will not get the client downloaded and installed, signed-up and all of that for at least 24 hours. That I can promise you.

The fact is Aventurine is limiting the "trial" somehow. It will not be first come and first served. Why? it would take too much time to set it up and you would need the details worked out in advanced. They will take the easy way out and invite a few hundred people from their forums and that is about it.

Sounds like a fanboy in denial of himself in order to escape the crime that his own existence, to support the being and expressions that is Tasos and in getting away with BS'ing the masses. Goodbye JKnight1, you were entertaining while you lasted.

Limiting access to a beta = making it invite only. It's not an open beta, no matter how much people want to spin it into one.

They also said it would be OPEN, thus, an NDA would go against that.

So if the 22nd comes and goes and the NDA is still in effect with this new "limited open beta/trial" they're offering, what then?

People need to just learn to wait and watch instead of make up conjecture and opinion based on words and info given, no matter how large or little.

Good idea. Let's see what happens in 3 days. If it's the same situation we're seeing now-- next to no info at all, NDA still in force, etc. -- I would be very interested to see the fan reaction.

`, while open betas are to a larger community group, usually the general public.`

from Wiki, so if they would accept a lot of poeple from those who applied it will be seen as a open Beta.

I don't really care who gets in as long as;

- Free trial before you buy ( This looks grim since they reversed on the pre - order statements )

- Information that hasn't been through the Tasos Grinder reaches the public so players can make their own decisions about the game.  ( I could sacrafice the free trial if this comes true )

No it wouldn't.

This "limited free trial" they're talking about is just an extension of closed beta, only with more players than they have now. They're restricting access to how many folks can download the client, and even to who gets in at all. I'll bet money they won't lift the NDA, either.

As long as this game is under an NDA and testers aren't allowed to freely talk about their experiences, it's not open beta. If access to the client is limited, it's not open beta. Period.

Simple as this. VG did not get a drop of my money, Warhammer was also avoided. Both of these games had much better pubic perception before release. For VG I waited til after release and saw what state it was in by the number of people upset.

There is NO WAY this game is getting a drop of my money until I have access to a methodology to test it OR other people can speak freely about it. So if this "limited" "open beta" "with NDA" thing happens...  Not a chance aventurine... not a chance !

They should just make this pay to play. From what I've read it looks like there are enough people to help them with a $$$ boost and they get $$$ for people finding bugs. Plus it would calm down some of the elite on their forums.

Do you mean the trial should just open up as p2p instead of free?  While there are some fanatics that would pay for the privilege of helping stress test the servers, that'd be crazy, IMO.

Otherwise, the game has always been p2p, not f2p.

They're already going to offer Pre-Orders.

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I hope they take just fans, even if it means I don't get in.

I'm sick of trying to discuss the game on these forums only to be drowned out by trolls in every thread.

So it might make more sense to let in only trolls, which might in turn lower the volume of the noise, eh?

That's not a bad idea, that fans are going to buy the game no matter what, the skeptics and critics are the ones they should want to impress.

So Adventurine, sent me that beta invite with all speed.

I don't think they want to impress the skeptics and critics. I think they want those guys to not play, so they won't have to buy server space for them.

No one has bought any pre-order, as there has been none for sale yet. And as far as we know, there will be no charge for the trial since they said free. And the fact that it's coming the 22nd.

humm ok I'll take that bet.  You say on the 22nd Aveturine will drop the NDA and set up some kinda download client so all players have a crack at the free trial not just players Aventurine selects and sends a email to. No I'm not saying all players will get in just as you have said. I'm saying the players that do get in will not be selected by Aventurine and not be under NDA right? If you win I'll come to this thread and apologise and you can called me any and all names in the book. If your wrong will you at least come here and admit it?

If trolls have made Darkfall more popular then why are you complaining? Are you saying you don't want Darkfall to be popular?

Sounds like Tasos...

Okay, seriously now, people.

Comparing people to obscure cults is neither fun, nor wanted anywhere on this forum. Godwin's Law seems to apply to a lot more things than initially thought, too..

Remember our ROC, especially the part about religion and politics.

Feel free to discuss within the boundaries of our rules, anything beyond that will just cause derails (trainwrecks, actually) like this one.

This thread is now locked. Please don't let it happen again.
