Maybe a little exaggeration in the subject there, but it does seem like a good bunch of players are checking it out again. Let's hope they stick around and make AoC a thriving and growing community. We need as much variety as we can get in the MMOG genre. :-)

1. Xfire numbers are indicative but highly inaccurate for determining an MMOG's subscriber numbers.
2. Xfire numbers are perfectly viable for identifying trends in an MMOG's subscriber numbers, keeping in mind any current or recent "use Xfire!" campaigns.

Coming back or just bored playing Wow/WAR and tired of waiting for Darkfail and just trying it out for the first time?

I just saw the server merges and this is my opinion. If there's 4 PvE servers, 4 PvP servers and 2 RP servers for the WORLD?! And more people join, that means at least there will be good guilds and I won't be lonely.

I suppose I'll join a good guild when I come back to the game.

Such a very interesting roller coaster ride on xfire recently for AoC.

http://www.xfire.com/games/aoc/Age_of_Conan_Hyborian_Adventures/

Jan 15-16 AoC hits their all time low and looks to be dropping out of the top 100 games on xfire. Then 16-17 Darkfall announces that heir launch is delayed to 25 of Feb and on the 18 AoC rises from 87 to 45.

I find this so interesting because it really shows how much the future of AoC depends on the success or failure of another game, Darkfall.

While I am an avid AoC hater that was not the reason for this post, I really found this very interesting and you can take out of it what you will.

You know what happened 15 and 16th? thrust me those number have nothing to do with darkfall, it had ofcourse nothing to do with the ~24hour down time while the mergers was done the 13-14th and 15-16th either .

I am really worried too, because if this massive population surge continues, in a week from now the very reason the servers were merged will stop to exist. Overpopulation will occur and FC must ease the increased population of the servers giving the option to transfer part of it in the Semi-Freshstart servers Orionman mentioned above. I really hope FC gets through this crisis as well... one can only hope...

LOL yeah right, when I see the game breaking 20K hours on XFire I might worry about over crowding, until then that is just a fantasy

the XFire hour last week on 15th were due to the server merges BTW. Right now AoC is holding pretty steady with maybe a slight increaseafter the Holiday boost. Nothing like some people make it out as though.

A free comeback week or two would boost the pos for sure. The gamble is how many would stay after the free period. If they had a 10% retention from a 14 day free trial that would be a success. Myself I still have not sdecided whetehr tio let my sub run. I am hardly playing the game but am thinking about a try on a PvP server to see if it can grab my atttention. Maybe tommorrow.

Playing on a PvP server is like playing a completely different game. I wouldn't let tortage disuade you from doing it tho, since that's the only place where people can actively and effectively prevent you from questiing

PvP in form of Sieges is another aspect of the game that should be experienced.
