Hey...

Reading some of the threads, I constantly am seeing people talking about how "open beta" is coming jan. 22nd.

Is it comfirmed that it WILL, in fact, be open beta? Because the only official information i've seen from Aventurine is that it will be a "limited beta", which to me sounds pretty much the same as a normal game's "closed beta". Nowhere have I seen anything about how the NDA will be dropped and such.

Any confirmation on this being a real open beta?

No, open beta ended in early december. When it started is unknown.

Now we will have a quite-open beta.

yes thousands will be invited

yet there will be no video proof since there NDA states that it will kill you if you release any video leaks.

Bet none of those thousands ever say that there in the open beta just like no ones know any closed beta testers.

Just the closed beta - and that's confirmed.

Just what is a controlled open beta ?

1) they cannot handle more than 10k.

2) they cannot afford buying more server time / space.

3) same as closed beta but with a sexy new name.

Open Beta will start when pre-orders start logging into the game. Tasos will preach that pre-purchasers are disciples and are helping them iron out the bugs.

Only problem I'm having is deciding exactly how many preorders I should get, will 5, 10 or 20 guarantee me open beta access?, or will I need more, should I just keep preordering until I get access or will it be a case of diminishing returns.

What I was wondering about was perhaps I should just send Aventurine a blank check, because it might work out to be better value that way and I wont end up with so many unopened Darkfall box's when the game launches.

Mind you when it does launch and revolutionizes the MMO industry with its advanced groundbreaking technology and features all those Darkfall box's will probably go up in value considerably so in a way it will be an investment with an almost guaranteed resale profit per unit.

I think a blank (white) check is absolutely the way to go. You won't regret it. I bet you will be one of the chosen, and your leaks will be admired and you will become a legend, and then you can write a book telling  the experience and be a milionaire.

An open beta doesn't mean that everyone and anyone is let in. Most Open betas have a limited number of slots. The only difference between and Open beta and closed beta is an NDA. If the NDA is still in effect, or if the people that get into the "limited trial" are affected by it then its not an open beta, if it isn't in effect/new people aren't bound by it then its an open beta. Chances are, we won't know until the 22nd either way.
