The map is excellent.
I see at the northernmost part an area in the sea named Serpent's Hollow; Runequest anyone? |

Nice. I had not seen that one before. I wonder if some people dont understand why there is a "weather map" included? |

The emptiness doen't bother me much. The players will be filling in the blanks. What surprises me is the jarring translations between tiles. It looks like there's going to be a distinctive border to each area "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

The big black thing in the middle is a huge vulcano (i have read somewhere). Have to try and find it again. Not sure if it was correct. |

nice map! world looks biiig!
did you see the grid? i watched again the Athenes presentaon video, and i notice that, roughly..form Flaming skull to New Flayed Elf its something like 5 min riding. Flaming skull - Charibis trip on horce shold be around 110 min From most north-east point of Yassam to most south-west of Rubaiyat - 4 hours but my math skills are not so good, so i apologies if i am talking rubbish here

"The squares are like that in reality and noticeable in the ingame map. Its obvious that they built the world in tiny maps and patched them together. The squares dont seem to line up with the server zones (you sometimes get a slight hiccup when crossing the 'seamless world') so I think they are just a byproduct of how they initially constructed the world. When I first saw this high rez map a few weeks ago without playing the game I feared that it would be very noticable when you moved from square to square. However upon testing it, the world is so huge that it doesn't register that way at all unless you have the map open and know that you are crossing a boundary. One thing I was struck by is that even though the graphics are not the best, is that there is a ton of cool stuff strew about the landscape and it never feels generic. Each ruin, abandoned village, outpost has the feel of alot of time and handcrafting put into it. The problem was that out of all these cool places, not many seem populated with critters or npcs." That kinda clears things up. Well it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog,
all for me beer and tobacco! |

I really hope we're mistaken about the "weather broadcast" on the map... Seems kinda silly if u could see weather on a map in any kind of "realistic" game. Strange that noone has labeled it carebear already |

Are u serious? Why wouldnt the map be drawn after u have explored the area, u think theres something weird with that? You could even buy the map from someone, nothing strange with that. Buying/drawing a map with stuffs on like terrain and vegetation is strange compared to having a map that shows the weather of the area..? Mountains doesnt move very fast u know... clouds move a bit faster... sigh |
