A few days ago I stopped by my local Gamestop and seen the limited edition version of Warhammer Online. So of course I thought about this community. I'd like to know your honest opinions about the game at this time. I had a really nice poll made up for this post, but I hit preview and meh it's gone. Anyways how is Warhammer these days? |

Strong out of the gates. Then quite a slump for a month or so. Now that most of the more casual players have hit 40, a number of sever merges and since the last major patches it is significantly better. More rvr/pvp than ever. Not trying to overstate anything here. There are still issues that need smoothing out, but overall I think Mythic has really done well improving what they started. |

the only true problem with warhammer is population. the majority of servers are either mid to mid , mid to low, or low to low.. this can all be blamed on ea mythic for being idiots by taking players off servers like averheim, which were high to high population and making the servers low to low. they came out with way to many servers to begin with, and like with all mmos, more people = more fun , less people = boring so they came out with a free charecter transfer and it is helping but not by much and i hope they get rid of some of these servers so that more people would be playing on 1 to become high to high pop. i think ea mythic relised this and are now wishing they didnt put up the stupid xp/renown bonus and let the servers that were populated becom populated again the only way i see this happening is if the do a xp /renown bonus for only a few mid to mid that are close to high pop and migrate players to thoese servers. , that way people on the servers that are low to low can be taken away but i dont think mythic will do that. as for the rvr , it can be great on some nights , like fridays, saturdays and sundays , but during the week the only thing you might be lucky to see is a pick up wb in orvr, as for pqs, no one goes to them scenarios sometimes happen but not nearly enough like they use to. imo, id try the game out if i were you . its not a bad mmo, its just lacking in certain departments that could make the game the best but if you do plan on playing, id suggest you go to ungrim , that server is one of the most populated servers for warhammer. |

Let me start by saying that if you like crafting or PvE more than a PvP/PvE mix, if you like a "sandbox" type of game, or you're strongly anti-PvP, you should avoid WAR. The Good:
The Bad:
That's all I can think of for now, if you ask for a 7-day Recruit-a-Friend free trial then you can experience it for yourself.

thanks man, good info in there. Crafting, picking flowers etc, always bugged me in MMOs anyway and from what i read of the game so far it generally seems to be trying to reduce the level of pure grind involved - this to me sounds great. As does the fact that it's PvP -centric, i'd definitely like to see good PvE stuff in there but if the PvP, RvR stuff is solid i'll be happy enough to wait for new content to be added.
Thanks again, i'll stop hijacking the thread now;) Played: WoW, Lotro, AoC, Eve, CoX. |

Whoever asked for the unbiased review look above at Ascension08's post. He pretty much nailed it.
I have been playing for 2 months, and am still enjoying the game. I think the most important part of his review was were he stated "it's more of a game than a "world". I cant emphasize this enough. If you find a good guild, use ventrilio, you will probably have a good time as well. As he said its more of a game than a world, although there is a big world to explore. You just wont have as much of a fun time without a guild. There is a lot of fun to be had, but plz find a good guild its like the difference between rating it a 3/10 to 9/10....You can really tell once your in vent that this is how the game is meant to be played IMHO.... Good luck
Servers I recommend for population Badlands DarkCrag Skullthorne Pragg. Cant go wrong with these servers I have seen them with med/med population at 4:00am eastern standard time.

I got into beta last March so I'm going on close to a year now and I'm still playing, so I'm pretty happy with the game and I will continue to play in the future. For me (notice I said me), there are no major issues with this game that bother me so much that I would stop playing. As a somewhat casual player (20hours per week or so) that loves RvR, It is truly a great game. That said, I will point out some things that disappoint me. - Gear progression at the high end, I just wish there were more options and they weren't all based on random luck. - Fortress lag/crashes, Its a problem. They are making great progress but I'm afraid this may one of those things that lag/crash free 400+ person fights is just not technically possible with reasonable current technology. That said, I am confident they will do something, such as making the fortress its own zone, to finally "fix" this. Those are the big issues for me, sure there are some bugs and small issues such as itemization that annoy me here and there, but this game has lots more positives about it than negatives for me. Anyway, if you do decide to play, do your research and make sure you pick a populated & balanced server (there are quite a few), as that will make a huge impact on your overall enjoyment. If you end up on order/Azazel, give a shout to Grayh and say hello.

In my opinion Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is a good game, not so good MMO. Karak eight peaks has a good population, I suggest you roll there Hair, and give me a whisper when you do! |

I appreciate what appears to be some un-biased opinions. Honestly, I was a little dissapointed this post got moved from the pub. Not that I think the pub is great or anything, but in reality I believe people who were superbly left with a bad taste in their mouth from Warhammer will hardly ever visit a board dedicated to it ya know? Anyhow, from the sounds of things I'll need to continue my search for a new MMO. Aeon perhaps? Who knows. |

Originally posted by stragee Hahaha you'd be surprised. In truth you would run into them here more than anywhere. Well good luck in finding the MMO you crave! 2009 doesn't look half-bad tbh. That's what I said about 2008 too though! |

[Andy] There is a variety of forums out there that players go to. Some of them that come to mind are Ten Ton Hammer, Warhammer Alliance, V N Boards is obviously a very popular one, especially with some of our players that played DaoC. V N Boards is where they congregate. We read them all. We spend a lot of time reading the message boards, and believe it or not, we do read just about every thread. That’s a lot. In short, I found it quite boring. Sure, at first it is interesting, but around 20 the excitement goes down the drain. The PVE is clearly an afterthought and totally failed to excite me, and you still have to make PVE to really level. I found it quite soulless and fedex-like. RVR is fun for a while, but its also very repetitive. Once in tier 2 with keeps you have one keep type which essentially is copy pasted, and the mechanism of every keep is the same: blast door 1, blast door 2, run up ramp, kill keep boss. Zero variation. There is so little game in this game. You have 2 gear styles which is all you will EVER see throughout the entire levelling. Its many small things lacking. Only for the easy entertained. |
