With the blanket statements there mate. Btw I don't believe you tried the game again. Screen shot to prove me wrong. Thanks.
don't be smart. Look at the servers that were merged together. Only 4 servers in NA had ANY population at all. You can do 5 + 0 + 0 + 0 as many times as you want, and the answer will still be 5. Players had already 'merged' the servers well before Funcom made it official. Everyone was already on those 4 main servers. ................................................ |

Well, this thread just seem to attrackt nothing but trouble. Trying to be constructive though, I answered that I think we are seeing some people coming back to the game for the reason that the game just runs so much smoother now on a general level. |

Well, I have a feeling that WAR, wich many "disgruntleds" threatened to go to didn't live up to the expectations either... So some went back to AoC.

He can say it because no one can provide anything but anecdotal evidence that the population is growing or not. Of course the remaining servers are going to appear more populated, not due to masive amounts of new subs, but because they scraped together the players from all the low pop servers by merging them. Prove the growth, Avery. Give us credible numbers. Otherwise, this thread is exactly what it started as - propaganda. If you accept the premise of the poll, it implies agreement with significant growth. That's its purpose. |
|

Well population may not have grown mostly due to people coming back to the game, but, there were 5 instances of kesh today at 5:00PM EST, which is just the start of most people's play time. If the other servers were so dead then how come there were 5 instances as opposed to say 2 or 3. If everyone else had already moved to the main servers then shouldn't this already been the case. IMO, people vastly underestimated the amount of subs AoC currently had before server merger, the ones that said 50k world wide that is. I think thats enough evidence in and of itself to prove that AoC is doing better than most people thought/hoped |

I have never left AoC from release, but the reason why i'm enjoying it more now is i'm not DConnecting every 5min's or having to suffer the frequent lag spikes. Just hope after the EU's server merge that the severs remain stable |
|
Summing up the Poll it seems like the way AoC runs now compared to earlier is the primary reason for people getting back in: 1. Dramatic increase in stability as in much higher FPS and no lag 2. The game runs smuch smoother as in animations and the overall flow and load of data 3. The reduction of annoying bugs at a general level Added content and other seem to be less of an factor. Looking on the most important added content though it seems like PVP system was most important followed by added Quests and Ymirs Pass 4. Addition of more content in the form PVP XP level and PvP Consequence and Murder system 5. Addition of more content in the form of PvE content such as more Quests and the new zone Ymirs Pass in particular. Finally, Nobody seem to have returned to check out the revamped dungeons/raids as well as to check out new itemization and receipes in the game. Good to know. |

Not surprising given the many servers they had, and the few servers they have left. Oddly enough, all that instancing is one reason so many people left in the first place. For those who say it has 50K subs, they are guessing, in the same way you were guessing when you claimed it had 400K subs. Neither you nor they had any hard proof of either claim, just different agendas to pursue. Some people are really obsessed with sub numbers. Let me ask you this - if AoC had 11.5 million subs, would that validate it as a great game? |

Thats right numbers can not be proven so the make believe needs to stop, the blanket statements about pop needs to stop - I don't see you guys in the lotro forum bitching? why not? same thing. I can log in and see many new faces - something which you two can't or won't. I am really sorry you can't take it - must be most upsetting. New Tarantia Commons DX10 - DX 10 Goodness - |

It's not upsetting in the least. It's a game. I do agree that the make believe, and the attempts at deception, should stop. Unfortunately, you're one of the primary purveyors of manufactured numbers, on this list and others, so I hope you will take your own advice. With the emotional investment you have, I know that will be hard to do. LOTRO is a great game, with a much better than average community. You don't see much in the way of complaining on that board, because there are far less propagandists trying to deceive people about the game with make believe numbers, and claims after every little patch that the game is "like a totally new game, tons better, 11 out of 10". That is THE difference - most LOTRO players don't seem to feel compelled to lie to improve the image of their game. Many AoC fanatics appear obsessed with two things: the image of their game within the MMO community (and therefore sub numbers), and WAR. Just playing and enjoying their game seems secondary to them. |

He is one of the guys that did not like combo system from get go so even if AoC was perfect he would not play it. ( hehe AoC had and still have quite few big flaws ) The thing about so called haters and fanbois is that some of the hatters are really dedicated I mean posting in forums for game you quit 7/8 months ago is just ... And thats the problem in "perfect world when it comes to forums" it would be nice to see negative posts from players that just quit so people would know there are still issues with the current build. But its always like 99% of the "negative" posts are from same old players that did not even play the game for ages + on top of that add some of those fans of other games that never even play and are here just to bash for the sake of it. Well thank god its not "perfect world" as this forums would be really boring I like to have some nice laugh when I read some of the posts from fanbois and haters. p.s. Dont get me wrong in perfect world same old fanbois would not make so many praising posts either :) Futilez Mature gaming guild |

Some people seem to need to do that in order to "move on" to the next game, which is weird to me. As far as the rest of it, you're making the same incorrect assumptions by parroting the propagandist's line "if you haven't played since lunch today, you don't know about all the changes, it's a totally different game, great in every way now, etc." What led you to that presumption, if I may ask? I don't think that any game is or can be perfect for everyone (it's impossible). Nor do they need an obscene amount of subs to make the player feel good about his or her decision to play. AoC has enough players that enjoy it to keep it running for quite a while, which is great for them. There is never an excuse, however, for attempting to mislead or deceive others, all for the sake of a game. That's just pathetic, and leads one to believe that there is more wrong than meets the eye if deception is thought necessary. As stated before, very little discussion on this board regards the play of the game itself. Most of the posts from the usual suspects specifically regard improving the image or perception of the game, instead of the game. That's propaganda, and it's detestable. |

There is a difference with posting population numbers as a "matter of fact" compared to posting as an "opinion" with a break down. When I talked / mentioned Lotro it is in the respect that they don't release population / sub numbers either. So why the bitching on the AoC ones? Are we really having 1 rule for 1 and 1 rule for the other because AoC pissed ppl off months ago? That is what is too funny. AoC layed off some QA staff, guess what Turbine did the same. Where was the bitching and who was it from - thats right - the person that doesn't play at this point in time aimed at you know who "game". I sub to lotro too, since the get go, never ever seen 1 GM. Anyway, the comparison was a small one and semi relevant, I am not passing any buck here. It is relevant as to why some people are here though and why. It is quite obvious some people can not take the fact that people are having a second look at AoC or new people are starting up and we can fit those people into the same category / type of player. I would also like you to point to where I have stated deception in sub numbers and where I have made blanket statements saying AoC has this many subs - as fact? You will definately find I am not the one going around at every opportunity on every "potentially positive" thread on a crusade to give misinformation. People who play are in a better position to give in game experiences than those that don't in this area. I can understand you play WAR and you love it and it has it's own troubles and in some small way I maybe understand that trash talking another game you don't play might make it right in your mind. We is worrying is the fact some people can't let it go and move on. Those same people are a disruption to the those very thread that do talk about the game - another fact. It is easy to sit back when you don't play the game and have a specific agenda in saying "oh no the pop is not increasing" or "the only reason of increase is because of merge -same people thats all" New Tarantia Commons DX10 - DX 10 Goodness - |

I didn't vote because my reasons for coming back wasn't listed. i can't say why other people have come back nor can i speculate AKA talk out my ass as to why. I came back after being every dissapointed after playing 2 weeks or so at launch.i have stated this before AOC and War both OVER hyped their games and could never live up to it.i'm now back after all the hype is gone,i played it before and now know what to expect and its better than i had expected wich makes me enjoy the game more.i really like pvp but pvp wasn't goin on at launch it was a gank fest and spawn camping by people mostly twice or more my lvl. now i'm able to play and have fun i still get attacked here and there (the name of the game) but its real pvp people my lvl good fights win or lose. in pvp i play more of a defender style of play, where i don't go out looking for people to jump or attack (unless in a BG,scenario, or siege setting) unless i see some one that jumped me earlier then i'll actively hunt them till i feel they get the point..lol like i was in province the other day i saw a 41 ganking a 26 (i was 22) i stopped to help the 26 and noticed the 26 had a 27 ranger helping him we killed the 41..THEN the guy i helped and his freind turned and chased me across the entire zone till they killed me i was like wtf..lol |

It is an option, please vote. You are talking about the PvP system. The system we have now, is the PvP consequence system, where high level players get Murder points for bothering low level players. This is why you now can enjoy PvP. Part of this system also give you PvP levels and access to much cool PvP gear, but thats a different storry. |

Im probably not your typical AOC player or poster. I followed the game for a long time and really enjoyed what was coming. I have always liked the setting of the barbarian world, realistic graphics in games (dirty , gritty and dark) and this was perfect. I came from SWG and enjoyed that up until jedi took over before the CU. I planned to start from the beginning and enjoy the journey, exploring and not grinding to the end in a month or two. My impressions of the game is that it has always been great but lacking in areas. I never had any crash issues, bug issues or frame rate issues believe it or not but then again I was not grinding hours and I have a kick ass system. I played every now and then and took breaks while I played other games. The only thing that was missing for me at the beginning up until a couple months was variation in items and the social (crafting, housing, economy, a place to socialize) aspect of the game. PVP was always there. That changed a couple months ago with all the changes that they did make and I enjoy the game even more. I read alot of players bad comments on these forums and if you half a brain you can figure out most, not all, but most have not played the game in a long time but still feel the experience they had almost a year ago pertains to what is going on today. Thats a shame, they hurt nobody but themselves because they already spent the $50 bucks to play the game. Now the $50 investment gets more expensive while the box just sits there instead of keeping your mouth shut and trying the game sporadically to see if you like it when new changes come around. As far as $15 a month, going to a crappy movie cost three times that much with food and your ugly girlfriend. Not only that, you still do not have a copy of the movie when you go home, to try it again later to see if the Titanic does not sink this time. For anyone looking to try this as a new game or retry it, here is an unbiased opinion from an old guy who really does not give a crap if big companies succeed or fail. This also pertains to talk from people who love to talk about the stock of funcom. This has no bearing if someone is having fun or cannot stand the game. Example: The company I work for stock went from $15 to under $1 in that same time frame. Alot of people lost alot of money as I did. Guess what though, I still made six figures even though their stock sucks. GRAPHICS = BETTER THAN ANYTHING OUT THERE MUSIC = BETTER THAN ANYTHING OUT THERE QUEST = BEST IVE SEEN (AND I HATE RUNNING QUEST) ANIMATIONS = BEST IVE SEEN REALISTIC SETTING = BEST IVE SEEN (LOOKS) POPULATION = ON MY SERVER NEVER WAS A PROBLEM (HEAVY POPULATION NOW FROM MERGERS) CRAFTING = NEEDS WORK ECONOMY = NEEDS WORK (WHEN THEY FIX CRAFTING ECONOMY WILL FOLLOW) STABLE = NOT AN ISSUE (YOU DO NEED THE APPROPRIATE COMPUTER) BUGS = SOME HERE AND THERE (I HAVE NOT RUN INTO ALOT) GROUPING = (I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM MY SERVER, BUT LOTS NOW SINCE MERGE) PVP = (ALL OVER, MERGE INCREASED THIS ALSO) ITEMIZATION = (THIS IS WHY I AM ACTUALLY PLAYING MORE, PLENTY BUT IT IS NOT HANDED TO YOU) As with anything in life, think for yourself. Someone once told me: "If it feels wrong before you do it, then its wrong" If your thinking about trying the game new or retry, do it. Do not come looking for someone to talk you into it or out of it.
