There is very little discussion in here, at least not as populair as other games.

Is there a reason why NCsoft not to add a discussion forum to their official site? Isn't the community the most important aspect of the very essence of the MMO genre?

Even Aionsource wich is apparently the most populated community, is still quite barren (exxageration I know)

They haven't generally run public discussion boards in the past...But I think that was mainly because there was no way a Lineage 2 board could possible be moderated professionally...it would require too many resources :)...and that game needs an "any thing goes" type of forums. Its unclear whether they will run one for Aion, but the biggest Aion site right now is Aionsource. You'll find all discussions and everything you'd need to know there.

You make a point there. But I was wondering how NCsoft deals with player community concerns. I mean, how do they communicate? Is that support at all included?

Actually Calindor, there is an official Lineage 2 forum (and has been for quite some time though there are also fansites)

www.lineage2.com and go to community then message boards and you get this:

We are going to have to wait until we get a little closer to NA/EU launch and NCwest gets more involved.

We've made the decision that an official forum is not needed right now. What we're doing instead is to monitor and participate in discussions on our most ambitious fansites. Basically, someone posting something on one of those boards will get the same attention from our side (the Community Team) as a posting on any official forum would. :)

Stay tuned for updates on the matter.

That's a shame, I always enjoyed the L2 site as it had decent moderation and a good community.

That depends on your point of view. The point is that L2 has official forums.

I'm sure people can debate whether or not there is one forum ("L2Guru") or another forum (the one I pasted above) as forums where more goes on.

However, given the timbre of the L2Guru site I can easily see many people not being able to go there, especially since it is not work safe. Also, any official announcements for NA L2 happen on the site I posted first. Of course, the L2Guru site tends to get translated info from Korea first. Yet, some of that stuff doesn't make it to the official servers as can be pointed out by some of the items from the new expansions not making it to the NA servers. Also, some events don't make it here either. Therefore the info is a "take is as you wish" type of info.

But you are being cheeky as there are official forums that are maintained and monitored by NC Soft.

I have to agree there...

They are boards, hosted on NCsoft turf and are therefore official, Calindor if that's not your kind of board whatever, it doesn't make any less of what it is.

I personally like them not having a dedicated game forum, as the majority of the time the forums are full of people crying calling for a nerf buff etc. IMO 80% of a games forum content is just plain garbage.

That was another reason I liked FFXi, there is no main forum that I knew of where people would run and cry to. If you needed info you went to a site for that info.

Theres better ways to point out problems to the devs.

Waiting for: Final Fantasy XIV
Now Playing: COD4:MW2 (bye bye stars)
Worst MMO: Age of Conan
Favorite MMO: FFXI
