I will have to say I tried a 14 day trial for eve and it isnt enough for that game. I was still just trying to understand what the hell was going on at the end of the second week. I would try it again for 21 days though even then is that really enough to gain the depth of this game?

Thanks for the quick response jiggy any reccomendations you have? |

forgenight - for someone to send you the longer buddy key, you'll need to post an e-mail address to send it to. Panther, I'm rather new as well. Though I do have a few suggestions. Read up on character creation - but don't get too obsessed about it: figure out what you want to do (or just get an idea in mind of your ideal space captain persona) and learn about making a good set of attributes for your starting character. But don't get too bent out of shape if your ideal choice isn't mathematically perfect acording to someone's formula either (though don't pool a bunch of the bonus points into CHA either). The biggest thing to worry about is having fun in game - but if you do some planning you can get to the big stuff a touch quicker. And by a touch, I mean it's probably trivial in the big picture anyway, we're talking months of time to get to some of the largest things and maybe a few days difference on certain skills here and there if you've planned well. But you can still partake early on - I'm flying with my corp in a pvp war already and I've been in for just over two weeks. Reading up on this stuff should inform you about learning skills and what they do and why they're important. Do the tutorial - finish it. And the in game help system is actually helpful too. Get EVEMON (google it) - eve monitor is a good utility that can be used for keeping track of skill plans, searching for different ship outfittings, and checking on your character's skill training status outside of game. It's a must. Read things. Start looking for guides, tips, threads about what you find interest in in game. Search around a bit, and ask other players. Most people are helpful in text - but don't readily trust anyone. PvP and backstabbing are one of the greatest parts of the EVE universe - it's practically encouraged. Join the recruitment channel and keep an eye open for helpful player corps willing to train noobs. You are one. I am one too. I'm still confused as hell in this game but I'm finding niches for myself and the fun grows along the way. If you don't like it (what you're doing), ask around, try something new, etc... It can feel lonely in space, but there's always someone who's been in your shoes, and it probably won't take too much searching to find someone willing to shed some advice. It's a MMO, despite it's dark cold often hostile environments, so treat it like one. If you're bored - go get blown up in low security space. Nothing like the rush of losing your ship to another player, and when you're flying a cheap frigate it's almost worth it. Win or lose, you learn something in every engagement. All in all, just mess around in space and start making a character out of your character. You'll find out what you want to do eventually if you stick with it. Oh. I forgot the golden rule. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose - and this includes the implants in your own clone as well. Also, don't feel bad about feeling confused. This game doesn't have a learning curve. It's a learning cliff. And it's a thousand feet high. And it's covered in slippery ice. And there's angry birds pecking at you all the way up. It's awesome - in the true archaic meaning of "awe". |
