Ok I'm going to sound like a complete moron but I am sort of new to this whole MMORPG thing I've only played WoW. But anyways.. I look at the rankings I guess on the main page and noticed Darkfall was recieving "Hits" from my understanding a "Hit" meant like a download or for every 1 hit = 1 new player? |

I assume they mean page hits from people looking at DF related information / forums. |

From what I figure, it's just the number of unique visits the game in question receives on this website. So today, the Darkfall section received 7,000 unique hits on MMORPG.com. The contents of this post do not necessarily reflect the views of MMORPG.com and its management. |

It's like "Hi, I played WoW.." At this point the Darkfall Fanboy brain turns off, and starts with the response "Don't play Darkfall" completely ignoring the rest of the post. Thanks.. That sounds like a fair argument. After all, you're taking into consideration the Darkfall community housed here in MMORPG.com, right? Correct me if you are indeed including the community on Darkfall official forums or other fan/MMO sites. Granted my assumption is correct, and you are indeed referring to the "Darkfall community, as represented thus far here on MMORPG.com," it sounds like a very narrow group of people to base your conclusions on. You can count all the people who spend most of their day writing hate posts about Darkfall, or the people who fanatically preach Tasos' words as if he's some kind of MMO prophet without having to use all the fingers on your hands. Those people are a really small part of the community, and not an accurate depiction of the average person that will be playing Darkfall(i.e.: the people you will run into casually in-game). This community seems no different in comparison to any other section on this site, or any official forum for any other released game. You'll always have idiots who post irrelevant shit, or act like idiots(redundancy!). Now, I'm no Darkfall-lover, but it seems like your reasons for avoiding this game(or telling others to), could be very easily applied to any other game. With that in mind, have you ever played an MMO? I'm sure everyone you ran into on every single MMO you played has been a saint who volunteers at a homeless shelter, adopts orphans, and posts very "knowledgeably" on the official forums for said game. I don't think you and Lydon really believe that. It's okay, I'm angry that I haven't had a chance to try the game yet, either, and it's 10 days from release. Tell you what: when we do get to try it, look me up and we'll hold hands and skip down a virtual meadow. Worshipping Tasos' words isn't far from defending his most rediculous decisions or his arrogant character after all. Yes, every game has these people, but the degree of which that are found in Darkfall is unprecedented, at least to me. The game is promising so much and it's such sweet music to peoples' ears that they even defend the most rediculous of Aventurine's business stratagems, such as not telling consumers standard, useful information 10 days to launch. I guess I'm applying a stereotype to most fanboys and I agree that's unfair. However, it's natural to assume that if one person belongs to a certain group, then other people who belong in that group will be similar, if not the exact same, as that one person. -------------------------------------- Order of the White Border. |

I think everyone is a little confused I never stated I wanted to play or had any intention of even learning about Darkfall It was a simple question about how the ranking system worked on the front page I don't see how this turned in a discussion about the Darkfall game/community lol. |

Secondly, your lack of ability to understand the first post is getting rediculous. Did you miss the part where the OP was under the misunderstanding that a hit is a signup to the game? If I thought that that was the definition of the game I too would be extremely confused as to why Darkfall was getting so many signups.
And in conclusion, Darkfall is not more popular than other popular MMOs. It happens with every MMO near release that hit rates increase. Call my when Darkfall sells 5.5 million copies like Guild Wars or has 11.5 million subs like WoW, OK? It is a niche' game and it does not have mass market appeal (and will have even less appeal with the rate the community is going). Each response of yours gets even more laughable and you're just digging yourself into an even deeper hole of what looks to be idiocy. Don't even bother replying as all you'll gain from it is a laugh from my side and a few other people. |
