"War isn''t about dieing for your country; It''s about making your enemy die for theirs." - G.Patton |
The list of MMOs I've played is abnormally long, from little horrible games like Endless Online to PlanetSide to WoW, I think I've played about every single one that exists, or at least sampled the type of game. I still am pulling blanks on an MMO that truly pulls me in. Tabula Rasa did for a bit, but it shut down. What I'm really looking for it a good combat system, akin to single player games like Two Worlds or Fable. The kind that are 'hack n' slash' just keep clicking until everything falls. With spells usually assigned to the right click. I've been enjoying The Witcher and Two Worlds recently, Two Worlds more than pretty much anything actually. Closer to that game the better. I know it's not a title many have played, but it's a lot like Fable in many aspects. So the closer to Two Worlds/Fable the MMOs gameplay is the better. Crafting, playerbase, and having no instanced zoning comes second after the combat, followed by exploration and lot of crap to. These are the most important things I want in the game. Pay to play or free to play, doesn't matter. Games I have tried that are similar to my requests but I ended up disliking quite a bit: Dungeons and Dragons: Online Age of Conan is out of the question due to the lewdness of it. Thank You,

I have no idea why you would want an MMO with combat like that, but hey whatever floats your boat. You could just buy a mouse with a lot of buttons and assign each a spell. A mouse with eight buttons is normally the right amount to get and they range from $25 - %70 on Newegg. Besides that idea I don't know of any MMOs like that. Games with no instances: Lineage II and EVE Online. Darkfall and RF Online(I think) also when they come out. Ryzom might be also after the trial island, but I didn't play it much to know for sure. If you don't mind games with as much instancing as WoW or less check out my post in this thread - Why doesn't every P2P game have AT LEAST a WoW type world? Crafting: Best crafting in an MMO? Player base: EVE and Lineage II have the most players. Darkfall will probably take first place when it first comes out. The games I listed have a lot of ground content to explore and a good bit to do. ------ |

The reason I would ever want an MMO like that, is that the combat keeps me entertained. Why, I don't know, but it does :P The issue is I love the gameplay (combat mechanics and crafting mechanics) of single-player RPGs like Fable, Two Worlds, The Witcher, and Neverwinter Nights 2 but can't stand playing offline. I know that both Two Worlds and Neverwinter Nights 2 have online modes, although unless you have a group of friends playing it's near impossible to get a good RPG game going on Two Worlds. And I just have trouble with NWN2's online. Is there a way to get into the TCOS European servers if you're in the US? I've heard that game a different combat system. ____________________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but I know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

You didn't mention whether you have tried Vanguard. I suggest you give the free trial a run. |

I haven't even touched it, although I've been quite interested in it since it came out. I've heard it has extensive crafting and skills systems. What's the combat and player base like? ____________________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but I know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |

I've played some vangaurd, and tbh i really liked it, i just didnt feel like paying for it at the time, i dont really know what bothered me about it thinking back on it now. AND i bought the damn game and digital downloaded it so i can always go back and check it out. I think it had something to do with the way even on my pc (which is pretty beefy, though not the beefiest) i still had a bit of lag here and there because the whole world is supposed to be streamline, my issue with that is, if even a comp like mine has a couple hiccups now and then whats the point of an open world?I d much rather play a game with zones that runs perfectly, im not a kid with ADD who has to have everything right now so it dosent bother me to wait a few seconds for a zone to load. -The only sure thing about the future is uncertainty |

I consider it to have the best crafting system around. It has levels, but is also skill based. You buy your new abilities after you level up. I enjoy the combat myself. In my experience it has the best player base I've ever played with. The game has three spheres that you can level up: Adventuring, Crafting and Diplomacy. Diplomacy isn't for everyone, I personally enjoyed it. For the previous player base, they have opened up free play until the 31st. |

Dungeon Runners has a hack n slash feel to it. The game has a free and paid account plan. Free accounts have ads and item drops are randomly tagged for paid accounts only. Paid accounts get a little more XP. The game isn't very deep, there's no crafting, no exploration, just dungeons. Imagine Diablo but instead of Bnet chat, the town is like the lobby. Also, the game is satirical. There's a whole lot of humor and nothing in the game is very serious.

Got to playing the Vanguard trial and was hooked pretty quickly, the pure depth of the game is amazing. Although it may not be the combat system I'm looking for it's a really fun game, I'll probably end up buying and subscribing to it.
What server do you recommend I play on? Which one has the most players? ____________________________ "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but I know World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein |
