That's just plain odd for the industry. Release in 12 days, and still an NDA in place? Is the NDA going to drop before release?

They will have to drop the NDA if they have an open beta. So the real question i s "Will they have an open beta?" |

I don't think they will ever drop it as that requires them to make an announcement which they won't do. If there's a trial or an open beta it won't be relevent anyway. |

The NDA applies to the closed beta and other testing... They dont EVER have to drop it... and I dont expect them to. |

The whole thing is just wonky. No updates since 12/24. You'd think they would say something about something at this late date. Like I don't know - Where we'll be able to buy the frackin thing. Yeah yeah, I know - It will be downloadable....from um......the Internet. |

Um, this exact same argument was going on for MONTHS before Age of Conan and people were talking about it then; some of the same people who are defending Aventurine were crucifying Funcom. Talk about two-faced comments (not saying you were one of them but many in these forums were). What I find funny is that people criticize questions like this and concerns like this. Next time understand that this is a valid question 12 days from release and to think any different is to be a blinded fanboi. |

I believe they will keep the NDA into effect until they release (whenever that is). |

Tasos will keep the NDA up till release day so the surprise is not spoilt for everyone. Most people want to explore the game from a fresh perspective and not have the magic of the undiscovered world ruined by the minority of haters whining about the NDA and asking pointless and unnecessary questions about the recommended system requirements, what features have been cut for release, or how much the game will cost etc. For this reason Open beta will probebly start after the game has launched, Tasos asked me to remined you that the game is a lot of fun and we hope to see all of you enjoying it while helping us test during these next phases. |

I wouldn't really be surprised if they kept in in effect for quite a while. If open beta starts and it does indeed launch, is there a real need to know what happened in closed beta? It certainly isn't standard practice, but nothing about DF is standard. Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open. |

Twelve days to go, does not give enough time for an open beta. My guess is they will either not have an open beta or the lauch will be delayed |

My best bet is that NDA is probably going to be dropped just a few days before release. And you honestly think there will be an open beta? I'm 90% sure there won't be. All I hope is they won't postpone the release date again. And seriously, all the talk concerning what if about Darkfall on these forums... what's the point of it? Everyone can give his opinion but it's all speculation. Lots of people are having high hopes for this game but we'll just have to wait and see. And we can comment afterwards if it did or did not match our expectations. And some people are bound to be disappointed no matter what happens anyway... One thing's for sure... all this secrecy has created a lot of hype (both negative and positive) so lots of people will try this game. And the good thing is, it's drawn a lot of attention to sandbox games... I sure hope producers will notice this and start making more games of this kind from now on. I don't want the theme park supremacy to end (well not necessarily), just to have more options for sandbox games... Ok this is going off topic I'll stop now |

The only reason there is not an open beta and the nda lifted before release is the game is not liveing up to what was promised ie: Funcom example. |

Plenty of time to do what? Say they had one? If they have an open beta and it reveals any problems there won't be time to fix them. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

The reason Funcom ie: Age of Conan did not drop there nda was they new the game did not live up to there hype and did it intentionaly. |

the lack of open beta and the effect of a still present NDA is achieving exactly what they want.. People are talking about it. It keeps the game in people minds and on various gaming sites boards. So all these posts whether by trolls or fans is adding to he hype. |

It tells me the game is not going to do very well or even a decent game. |

No it doesn't. It tells you that there is currently no open beta and that the NDA is still in effect. Darkfall will have to launch, and you'll have to play it to have insight to what you already said you think you know. |
