Like a lot of others I think it is the most polished MMO. I took a year break from it while I tried other MMo's and none of them lasted with me for more than 1-2 months, except for LotRO. I think it offers the greatest variety of things to do in a MMO and that is where other games fall short. A lot of ppl, will go out and try and "beat the game" by getting max level as fast as they can and then see what is left to do and with WoW there is still quite a bit of things you can do and enjoy the game. |

No doubt about it, WOW is a well made MMO and there is fun to be had there. Of course, it doesn't appeal to everyone, so it is not highly rated by them, but since ratings are subjective no way to say that its "over-rated". Depends who you're asking I suppose.

IMO No it isn't... You played for 3 years.. which other game has held you that long? Seriously though, this is one of those "in the eye of the beholder" things, and kind of silly to even bother asking anyway, especially on this site. |

I agree. Starting out again for most people is a scary thought. This is why the other games released have not made a big hit like WoW. People are to concerned with the "I have to spend X amount of time regrinding up to max lvl." I love the feel of a new game with a new story and new lands to explore and new players to meet and kill. The reason why games need to release Xpacs is the same thing in disguse. grind to x lvl in new content. you replace all your awesome elite gear in the 1st new area with "not so elite gear" the sec you step out in the new Xpac. all I am saying is dont be afraid to try new things, maybe you'll like them. |

Like OP I've played WoW for over 3 years and the turn it took with each expansion simply tired me out of it. For the starting player to the title I have no doubts that they will have a good time because they don't know how it was compared to what it's become, during the first 2 years I had the best-game hype towards it, but the changes from the expansion werent to my liking, same for many others I knew. I also know people that started to play the game shortly before I quit and they still say that they love the game as is and ask me when will I be back...overall its not overrated, the game is polished for as long as its been out but I am willing to give a chance and be patient to some of the new games that came out and are progressing to make something out of themselves, staying in a game just to chat with friends when I'm bored outta my mind of the game isnt my thing. |
