Not predicting the death of WOW by any means, but just in the past couple of weeks I have seen a massive falloff in server population, and several in the guild have left the game just in the past 5 days. There was a huge influx when WOTLK first came out, but I suspect that many - like me - found it too easy. Already reduced to doing boring dailies over and over, I found myself not logging in for days at a time - and not even caring. And I know that the cartoonish graphics are what made WOW easy to play on almost any low end computer, I find myself wishing that there was actually some detail in the graphics, and they did not fall totally apart when you got up close, such as EQ2 or Vanguard graphics. |

WOw's pop really is a fluctuating one dpeending on the content. People come in to play the prewotlk patch, then it dies down again, people come in to play wotlk, then it dies down again, people come in for the pvp season, then it dies down again. It's been like that for 4 years now really, the dying down will get stronger with age but even till short ago the game has still grown remarkably. Even if the dying down has already started I doubt it will dip below 5 million subs in the next 4 years unless they release their new MMO within that time.

I don't care what happens to it honestly lol I know there are some who never want it to die - that's understandable w/ how many hours most of us play it. I loved wow in the beginning but now I'm a little bored and am looking for the next great MMO. Also, if WoW died then all those kids would just flood into the other great MMOs and bring them down /sigh Its not that I hate kids, I just don't like playing online games with them |

I don't care what happens to WoW but chances are it will die out and Blizzard's "new MMO" may take it's place whether it's WoW 2, World of Diablo, or some other new genre in their industry. IMHO...the only way WoW can die is if those 11.5 million people or so cancel and quit the game. Purpose in life is not to gain things, but experience. - Rover64dd |

Well it probably won't die for quite some time, but neglect of PvP and newer games coming out that give what WoW won't will widdle away at it or eventually replace it. Sure WoW will still post that they have millions of users, but, so does Runescape and we all know how real those numbers are don't we.
Oh and as for Blizzards new mmo If Chilton is involved expect people not to even touch it, that mans name is synonymous with the plague.

Most MMOs never really die.
That being said, there has never been an MMO that deserves a painful death more than WoW. Except perhaps AoC, but that's already dead.
That's what you get for destroying the MMO industry... |

I would think people would not want WoW to die. I've gone back periocically and the community gets worse and worse each time. People should want WoW to continue so the vast amount of morons in the game will stay there and not infringe on one's future game. Sure, there are some good people, but it has the worst community in any MMO I have ever played ( and ive played a lot). Better they stay there. |

Warcraft is 15 years old and dozens of publishers will want that franchise in their boot. Sorry but chances are that SignusM dies "a painful death" sooner than Warcraft :))))

But if you're talking about the company, Michael Eisner almost ran it into the ground before he was given the boot. Decades of work can be brought down to nothing by a cruel twist of fate. Look up Barings Bank, or more recently, Merrill Lynch.; Will Pokemon die ? Nope. Very few things never die -- and it's nigh impossible to predict what. Is Sailor Moon dead? The Warcraft franchise is that big that I foresee an ever changing Wow1, Wow2, Wow3 for the next 3 to 4 decades. We don't know what the state of the industry will be five years from now, let alone two decades. Look up the problems, legal and otherwise, at NCSoft. Also see the happenings at Electronic Arts, as solid a game company as you could have expected. Warcraft is 15 years old and dozens of publishers will want that franchise in their boot. Tastes change. D&D in the late 90's looked dead before "Baldur's Gate" resurrected the franchise. Sorry but chances are that SignusM dies "a painful death" sooner than Warcraft :)))) Should I call the cops?

I hope it doesn't die. The players that migrate from WoW to the new MMOs totally ruin the new ones. WoW players try to play every MMO like it's WoW, and when its different they cry and whine until the devs change it to WoW. Case in point: AoC has some of the freshest most unique combat in any MMO. There was huge potential for it to be THE pvp mmo. But what happened? Nobody participated in PvP outside of low-level ganking because there were no item rewards for it. Instanced PvP was completely non existant. Case in point: WAR offers 5 scenarios (BGs) in tier 3. Guess how many get played. One. Just like WoW. Players didn't even set foot in the RvR lakes because there was no item rewards. Now that they give players a RvR grind for item rewards, all the retards and their mothers are in the RvR lakes, completely abandoning the scenarios. Players from WoW are only interested in the easiest fastest way to level up their stats. That's all they care about. I want them to stay in WoW, so therefore I hope it never dies. |

I love the game and wish it to go on for a long time to come. Weather people wanna admit it or not - over all World of Warcraft is a great game. It may not be the best around - but what game is. Besides, that's the joy of there being so many different games and game designers out there. Everyone has different ideas and plans for games. |

Yes; it's nice to get something for your time - but I actualy spend about 60-70% of my WoW time helping others. And when it Comes to PvP-related things -- I usualy don't do any PvP stuff; weather there are items/rewards or not. I don't like PvP and I'm nto any good at it. Granted there are several people that have the whole "me, me, me" mentality - I have faced several of those; even in the guild I'm a part of - but by no means is everyone like that. And I hate when peopel generalize EVERY WoW player like that. Juts dumb. But, every game has those type of people anyways in it. No matter whom it caters to - or gaming style. |

back to topic: this must be the 65857456487-thread assuming wow will die, must die, is about to die.... for what? i dont see any sense in speculating about that....why should it? and even if ..there will be another game, which of course- if very successful- is again about to die, will die, must die...

Perhaps not, but that's where they get it. Regardless of whether or not you are a selfish player, something about WoW requires players who try other games to try and play them like WoW and get upset when it's different. |

I hope that it does die with antiquated idea of leveling in lieu of a skill system and sandbox environment that can be an evolving world. So, I cast my vote in the hat of hoping that it dies. Or at least gives birth in it's next incarnation as what I just said. |
