Community.

I'd like to preface my observations with the clarification that I'm not making a global indictment on Darkfall forum posters.

That being said, that community is inhabited by some of the most vile, rude, crude, grammar impaired, immature brats I've ever run across.  I thought WoW had a nasty bunch (and it does) and Vanguard's community had some real gems when it was in development.  But man, it seemed like every other post on the official DF forums had a blistering list of responses whose only purpose was to insult and denigrate the OP.   Oddly, I don't see it on these DF forums so much, at least not to the degree as the Aventurine forums.

Of course, I realize not all DF fans are like that, any more than all WoW players are like that.  It was just shocking to see the number of insulting responses to posts on so many posts.  

But, typical of hardcore pvp games, you'd better have a thick skin, because the personalities don't get sweeter in the game.

yes, and that may be a pre-cursor of what it will be like during gameplay... imagine all those same people from this forums in-game when(if) the game launches on the 22nd... though some players prefer that type of hostile atmosphere ... as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I agree the darkfall forums are over run by morons but the great thing is once the game launchs you'll get to kill them all!

A lot of it has to do with the developement time that Darkfall has taken. Darkfall has had 2 or 3 times longer to recruit the real gem forum types.

The loudmouth's over at Darkfall main forum is a small minority as i see it. Most mature people in my guild dont post on Darkfall forums, they have lives and dont follow Darkfall forums 24/7.

The community ingame will be alot better then what these loudmouths represents. I do agree though that it appear to be a harsh enviroment if you read some of the threads.

UO had from release the best community i played in so far and i expect Darkfalls to be as good. Dont fool yourself to believe that the loudmouths over at Darkfall forums talks for the whole Darkfall community.

The DF community at the moment is just random speculators. There really is not much to talk about.  The word community and internet forums really should never be related. How can you have a community when so many are playing or following the game.    

Personally I don't think anything can top Amazingavery and AoC prerelease.

Hah, wait until you get in game and start playing. That will be the survival of the fittest and you will see who has a strong stomach when they start losing items and die to another player and not a scripted mob.

That's the way it is with most forum posters. There's plenty of people that are waiting for Darkfall and aren't asshats. A lot of those people don't post on forums or if they do it's rare. Welcome to the internet.

never have truer words been spoken... "sheep" is a good descriptor.. case in point for MMO's "name brand" universes/worlds... i complain about company making name brand games, but those "sheeple" markets keep buying the next Star Wars / trek / gate... and the list of garbage goes on and on and on... it's a sad truth that it's a symbiotic relationship between the big Co. like EA and SoE and the sheeple that keep buying products based on "famliar" name brand ... and this over saturationg of lackluster ideas will eventually, much like the Roman Empire, collapse upon itself because the big boys have forgetten how to make a good game vs. if they've made their game in spec to the Name Brand they chose (i.e., programmers worried if their work passes their legal team's Name Brand conventions (... "Um, sorry Simon, you're gonna have to redraw that Lightsaber it's not regulation size, the Lucas team will most definately red-flag this...")

Hence because of this symbiotic relationship between sheeple market and big Co. all we get is sub-par gameplay... but hey at least the lightsaber is regulation siz, at least Entreprise is the correct color (<--- sadly that's what devs. for name brand mmo's worry about... they'll just prioritize the gameplay aspects on the sequal lol)

Nobody I know posts there any longer because of that. The newcomer section is better, but still bad.

There are a lot of people that plan on playing that are mature, Just not many on that forum.

I don't know if the forum will settle down at all after launch. Don't let it get to you too much. If you've been around here you've seen the trolls that constantly post here. It's been going on there for a couple years and I can imagine losing my cool once in a while to that.

I agree the darkfall forums are over run by morons but the great thing is once the game launchs you'll get to kill them all!

aye.... just jot down names, remeber, and see if they are dumb enough to release thier in game names come launch.

I like to be updated on whats going on but lately i have just gained ignorance from reading them. I made thise account to post on the forums and this forum only. Reason being is that I just wanted you guys to know that not everyone is a asshole thats going to be playing darkfall. I have high hopes for darkfall but its prolly because i have been let down 100 times over from every other mmo besides swg and then they let me down with the pre cu. Well im not here to complain just was wanting to let ya know there will be at least one decent person playing darkfall.

my grammer sucks just because i stop caring about it long itme ago ic ould do grammer if i felt like it but im actully anice person but i dont like certain people that keep creating alt accounts

PvP got more "hardcore" but that depends on your def. IMO, a game doesn't have to have full loot for the PvPers to be hardcore.

Games with makebelief PvP like Age of Conan and WoW with a also very poor alignment systems have the worst griefers, by far. There you find the childish gankers that kill anything with no risk vs reward or consequences at all. A safe gameworld for the immature gankers.

Darkfall have a on paper way better alignment system that will cater for less gankings and most that will take place is btw players that accept being ganked cause thats how conquest and racial warfare is. The real hardcore games like UO pre-trammel and all the way too Age of Shadows were introduced february 2003 had the best and most mature community i seen in any game based on PvP.

WoW and Age of Conan is examples of games that have the worst community.

So instead of guys running around killing one another for no reason; you have a large group of ball sacks running around exploiting and tricking people into going red. Big difference.

I don't expect the DF community to be much different than the AoC community, since many of the AoC players that were immature have left because it wasn't enough like this game to keep them interested. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you see some people who play AoC currently playing DF when it hits the states. The only difference is that no everyone will have to put up with the asshats because there isn't a global chat, but everyone will know who these people are all the same.

PS Hell even EvE has these types of people in it.
