Still good?

because im aware its pretty old and ive looked at playing it enough times before but ive never actually gone through with it. But now in my time of need, WoW is getting worse and worse, AoC is terrible and im not sure i want to go back to WAR its pretty much a 1 trick pony. I need a new MMO ive played the EVE trial and whilst it is a good game i feel you need to have been playing it a few years to have achieved anything and it can be a bit dull.

So in short is this still an active, fun MMO that i could start for the first time now and still enjoy?

Sorry i know this is the heroes forum but is the villains side all of the above aswell because i might end up playing a villain

I don't play CoX anymore(thats both) But i am sure its still active they are adding some sweet new conent that i am aware of, but it hink it would still be active. It was a pretty fun game when i played shouldn't of changed since then much.

can you play it on the higher graphics resolutions?  if so, it really doesn't feel very dated, imo.

there's lots that's been added the past two years.  if you haven't played in two years or more, it's a whole new game.

I had a ball when I played this game.  I have not played for a year.  I have moved to other games.

City of Heroes has the best group mechanics I have seen  that allows players of different levels to team up.  Players' levels are temporarily changed so that the group can have a challenging and fun mission.  Mission instances tailor themselves to match the group (number of of team members and their level) and you can set the difficulty level of the missions.

Mastering some of the super abilities like super speed and super jump were fun.

I also liked the ability to customise your appearance during character creation.

yer i just tried the trial out briefly and it looks ok

although the game doesnt seem to run very smoothly its very jumpy which is unsual because my rig handles games like AoC and WAR on full spec but the customization options where very cool so im gonna keep going on the trial and see how it goes

I did the trial a while back, was very fun and the one thing (for me) that made "grinding" mobs always fun was the ragdoll mechanic.  Jeez, I dunno how they do that but it's so real and awesome. Almost no two death animations are the same, whether they be mutant gangsters or regular gangsters or necrophiliac abomination spawners (Vahzilok ftw!) or homeless mutant people with TVs for heads. Also, they were always in groups so it seemed more realisitic that you were a SUPERhero. I mean a mob would run away and if he was on top of a wall, you kill him and his body falls off and slams onto the ground. Or you blow them away with some power and they fly back realistically. I wish every game did that.

The customization was fun. The only complaints I heard were about its PvP and its "end-game" content - which was basically grinding missions. If that's changed, I'd definetely try it again.

I agree with Damian. I've found it to be jumpy as well, and not in the areas or situations where you'd normally expect it to be if it was due to lag or a slow computer. Something's glitchy. Hopefully, they will resolve it soon.

thats good to know because glitches like that can make a good game unplayable
