Perfectly normal but, after a file has been scanned completely, it goes past that file much more quickly than when it is a new file. So, unless there is an update, it should scan the files pretty quick. From start to finish, on my computer, it takes about a minute to log in.

You might be shutting down EQ2 wrong everytime if it's taking along time to Scan everytime you start it up.

For me, it does the preload scan thingy in about 4 to 8 seconds.  Then I enter my info and it does the looking for updates section where you select your toon, and that only takes 1 to 2 seconds (unless there is a download) and then I'm in the game 20 seconds later.

The sony launcher is horribly clunky. It asks me to agree to the terms and conditions twice and rescans every file for the launcher. Once the launcher loads it takes seconds to rescan the whole game and autoplay.
