Exactly, he said a lot of things and people like to bend what he says to "perfectly fit" an event that happened.

On another note, the Mayan calender ended on the day it did because that is when (going off memory here, might be off a bit) the Earth, Sun, Jupiter and the center of the Milky Way are all in line, which they believed would form a bridge for them to reach heaven(or something like that). They never predicted the end of the world.  And people have been predicting the end of the world ever since they became self aware and knew their was a world to end. Take it with a grain of salt, but stock up on can goods just incase stupid people run wild.

The Mayan calendar has ended a few times before. The only reason there isn't another calendar cycle definitively planned to start in 2012 is because there aren't any more Mayans, or at least not any who have the same concerns as their ancestors and are vocal enough that the rest of us know about it.

I find it kinda funny that ppl seem to believe in a calander made by some ancient race determines that the world will end. I think the world has been predicted to end at least once or twice every decade. And all those that claim the end have some obscure ancient artifact that tells them so.

I find it hard to trust the future telling of a race that could not predict their own demize but can determine the fate of the world.

The Maya calander ends on 2012, that is the year that they predicted our galaxy has made a full revolution (no idea how they found out those smart fuckers). So I guess you could say the world would begin anew in terms that its beginning a new cycle. So I really dont think it will end on 2012 by Mayan terms but that isnt to say something else might happen.

with all the galactic predictions, i know i've heard these before. These are probably the correct meanings, but i've also heard something about a "returning of the light" as well, which has been translated to mean Knowledge. Many people just worry about the world ending, hence all the horrible movies about it. so they automatically assume since the mayans, who were extremely advanced for their time, decided to end their calender on that day, well the world HAS to end. It won't.

Also, i've heard of many sources that calls the year 2012 the "Year of Change." Many things will supposedly change drastically. Maybe everything will go 64-bit and we'll finally be done with 32-bit. But truthfully, nobody knows crap cuz it hasn't happened.

It will not end, but it could be much more difficult with the collapse of the US.

I don't think the world will end but our technology will start to fail on the date of the calender end. Just think of all the stuff that is programmed around the Mayan calender once it ends that it is it for it, it will no longer understand the date and thus my friends will be the true "y2k".

Like what the other poster said the end of the Mayan calender is noted on the full rotation. There is other scriptures that lead to believe their creator will come on this day and start the world anew.

All of this 2012 end of the world everywhere is massive Illuminati Propaganda. Ever notice it in alot of movies and media and documentries lately? No, I am not a peranoid person with a tin hat. I just know of this and aware. I know alot about this stuff so if anyone has any questions I'll try and answer them.
