Listen this game is just like WoW/EQ2. The combat is not different at all. It makes you push a second button to do a attack. PVP is all messed up unless you want to be a ranger. Nothing is balanced. This game is full of instances. The game looks great. If you played WoW or anyother game out right now dont waste you money on this one. Keep playing the game you have now. This game has the same exact format of every ame out right now. Except it was released too early.

I am a newcomer to Age of Conan (cancelled pre order after reading beta musings).I figured it was worth a go after reading all the new positive stuff on various sights.

I was expecting it to be a crash monkey with tons of bugs,instead I found a highly entertaining game with awesome visuals,a varied mix of chars and a nice lvling curve.

I have been playing online games for 10yrs+ (Ultima,Myth of Soma,SWG,CoH/CoV,many others) and I was really surprised how much I am enjoying this game.

The lvling is fast and does not feel grindy like many other mmos,nice drops,crafting is enjoyable and hardly any bugs (in my experience).

It seems like AoC has ironed out many of the problems it launched with and is on the way up,lots of new content is planned as well as PvP improvements,items,etc.

Sometimes you need to experience bad times to make you strive for the good times,seems Funcom is striving away ;)

PS Cant see how the OP can state AoC has the same exact format of every game out there,just that I never tried Conanquest,World of Conan,Conammer Online,City of Conan,etc.

AOC is a lot better than it was a few months ago, loads of things have been fixed and the game runs a lot smoother.  The combat is not AT ALL like WoW, it's more like something you would expect in a single player hack and slash game.  It's fun but it still needs work, stuff like directional shielding just seems a bit pointless and un-needed.

...But it does still lack content, it's very fun up until about level 40 and then it just gets dull and from there the game just feels rushed and at higher levels you struggle even to find enough basic quests to level off.  You can tell all the work went in to the first 20 levels.

Also yes classes are still very unbalanced.  They really havn't improved them much since closed beta.

I disagree on your combat assesment. Combat in AoC is the best I have played.  With regards to AoC lokking like WOW....LOL, sure did not know WOW lookes that good. LOL

yeah that was a pretty crappy review iyam. the combat system is nothing like any mmo ive played. i quit WOW after a month cause that combat was so boring and repetitive, requiring no skill whatsoever. and yes, the game has definitely polished out since the first 2-3 months and still has a bit of work, no doubt has incredible potential.

and the guy who said directional shielding is unnecessary, youre obviously a scrub cause i use it vs every non caster class. helps a ton.

Well the thing is, is that it is there if you want to use it - at least the option is present whether you want to or not, players are not forced to switch it up all the time. I agree though, in certain situations it is very handy to have, when you have a knowledge of say certain melee classes and the combo's they use with the leading move and finishing direction you can switch your shield pre-emptively. One class in particular has many leading left starters ;)

If you think the combat is the same as either of thoes games you obviously didn't get into the system, didn't play the game, played a caster, or are too stupid to not just stand in one place and cycle attacks.

 

PS Evert game is released too early even EQ and WoW. Why not write a real review instead of just troll.

PS. very very very few games are released in alpha phase expecting people to pay for it. AOC may be getting close to being ready to have players pay to play but at launch it was alpha at best.. Dont compare it to other games launch because you cant win that battle even on your best day.

LOL I am so surprised you disagree. Of course YOU are in the minority about the game at launch. History and a large amount of the players are on my side. Theres really nothing else I need to say to defend myself. Just google AOC launch failure and I am sure you can come up with all of the info you need. Or look at the company memo sitting on your desk that discussses how to get back all of the players that your company lost after the first month or two.

the game is fun. its still has minor problems but nothing that makes it suck. some level ranges are dry on the quest side, or when i played it was. 

did they ever end up fixing the problems with the consequence system for pvp? i read about it when it went live and had a good laugh

I dont expect you to admit it Avery but yes AOC at launch was alpha or at best a first week Beta. When the most basic functions important to an MMO look like something designed for an Atari 2600 I would consider it Alpha.

AOC is a great game ! its really cool and fun !

This game has the bigges potential of all mmo's, and it will probably be the best mmo in a few more months.

I strongly recommend people to Buy AOC.

AOC is a amazing game that has improved ALOT and will improve alot more.

It was at alpha phase. Alpha is just server testing. Beta? Maybe, but once the crashes were fixed, mostly july finished up in august, the game was launch ready. Just because certain desiered features are missing doesn't mean the game is still in beta. And most games don't have all the features talked about at launch until at least month 6.

I think you have to work for funcom. AoC is the same trash put out by every other game maker. Like i said I PLAYED THE GAME I SEE WHAT IT LIKE AND ITS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME!!!!!!! No matter what you say your not changing my mind because i played the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its nothing like you describe. Its exactly like i say.
 

Lets set the record.

1) Bugs crashes ect i dont care about.

2) Lvling is not quick and AoC forces you to run pointless missions. Go collect 20 vemon sack. Its a quest in game. Same as all games out.

3) COMBAT IS NO DIFFERENT!!!! Instead of pushing one icon to preform a attack , now you have to push two icons. You cant see any of the attacks because you forced to watch the icons and wait for them to glow! Its a bad idea.

4) If you want content play any other game on earth. They all have thousands of countless, mindless missions you can run. AoC has ton of mindless missions. But it has NO player made content. It claims it should but with the EXTREMLY Unblanced classes All player content is killed.

5)Drednaught said that he thinks AoC is Different from WoW.  This makes me think that dreadnaught never played any other game/mmo besides this one. AoC=WoW=EQ2-=every pile of trash out there.

6)I posted this because i wish i had Half this information b4 i bought the game. Im just tryying t o save people a little money.
