Hey guys, just started up the trial a day or two ago and am probably going to subscribe. Anyways, being a noob and all, I feel just a tad bit overwhelmed at the size and stuff in EVE. Basically I don't even know what all there is to even do in EVE, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out and get on a good start.

1. Currently have mining at 3 or 4....heard I should get it to 5 ASAP is ihis true?

2. I think I'm still in the noob zone, as its mainly been 0.9 and 1.0 security level, should I do as many agent quests as possible before moving on?

3. I'm on my second ship now, condor I think its called, given to you after one of the noob agent quests. Basically wondering what ship I should shoot for next? I love to both mine and kill pirates/players, probably end up having a seperate ship for both things. Or is it best to have a ship that has both offensive capabilities and mining abilities?

4. Heres a big one....can anyone make a list and or provide a link to a site that does have a list of everything you can do in EVE? Like I heard you can own your own station or whatever, but couldn't find that info on the main site or anything.

Well that about covers it for questions atm, i appreciate any help on the matter!

P.S.: I apolagize if any of this info I'm after is posted somewhere, didn't have time to look.

1. if you want to focus on mining it will be important. Comitting to level fives is a big investment though. you might be able to do some more things better before you commit. also some learning skills might help

get to know EVEmon http://evemon.battleclinic.com/

to learn more about mining the complete mining guide

2.quests give standing which then grant higher quality agents to become available

3. for mining, the Osprey, it is a great miner. Fighting ships usually don't mine

4. it is is a sandbox, a number if different professions have arisen simply from player ingenuity. No limits for what you can do.

Well, as the above poster said, getting a skill to level 5 is a big thing and usually takes a good chunk of time (the run from 4-5 is usually the longest), so it wouldnt hurt to get it to say, 3 or 4 and then boost your learning skills to cut overall training times. Learning skills will help you ALOT in the long run, so if youre planning on playing for longer than say, a couple months, they are worth it. Cybernetic implants can also shorten training times a good deal, look into getting some.

2. I think I'm still in the noob zone, as its mainly been 0.9 and 1.0 security level, should I do as many agent quests as possible before moving on?

I personally do alot of mission running in highsec space (am currently upto level 4 missions) and I only really venture out into lowsec when im itching for some factional warfare stuff with my corpmates, and for that ive got a jumpclone so I dont endanger my implants. Im not sure how well that works with mining, but do your best to stay in 0.5 and higher until youre more comfortable with the game as a whole. Lowsec gets dangerous for miners.

3. I'm on my second ship now, condor I think its called, given to you after one of the noob agent quests. Basically wondering what ship I should shoot for next? Different ships are good at different things. You will likely not find yourself a ship that excels at both mining and PvP encounters. My advice is to pick the most useful mining cruiser for your race, and skill towards it, this is the next logical step for you as a miner. You can work up towards the barges and whatnot later when youve got the training to fly them properly.

4. Heres a big one....can anyone make a list and or provide a link to a site that does have a list of everything you can do in EVE? Like I heard you can own your own station or whatever, but couldn't find that info on the main site or anything.

Not sure of a site that does this, but check the official EVE forums on their website, lots of useful info there.

One final bit of advice. Dont fly what you cant afford to lose. This handy little tidbit was given to me when I first started, and its proven itself very true. Save up your ISK and fly within your means.

Stay safe out there
