I resubbed two weeks ago and am enjoying this game boyond words. It's not a boxful of bugs anymore, nor a mindless grindfest. It has improved so much and more content is already on the way (DX10, vastly improved itemization, new end-game content etc..). Just go and see. Forget the fact that Funcom is a skanky liar, or at least used to be. Serve yourself some Robert E. Howards Conan stories and get into a decent rp guild. Don't come here blaming me when you find yourself being hooked after a few days! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all. |

Bugs are expected and forgivable, shallow mechanics and content aren't. AoC is a XboX RPG not a real MMO. |

Age of Conan is still the same boring, shallow game it always was, just now with less horrendous bugs and CTD's. At the very least, do yourself a favor and refuse to resubscribe until after they've merged servers and added all the things that are still "coming soon". Perhaps then it will be more fun. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

Personally figured from the looks of their last public disclosure that they would have "win back" promotions in early 2009. So for *me* its just about waiting for that. Then if *I* like what I see.. I'll keep playing / paying. Maybe they won't do this till after the mergers and another content / fix patch.. which imho is only added incentive to wait for the promo. Typical thread: Blocked, blocked, blocked, intellegent post I may not agree with, blocked, blocked, blocked, intellegent post I may agree with, blocked, blocked... |

Originally posted by Antarious pretty much the way I feel. I liked a lot of the things about AoC but there were way too may issues, a lot of which I think still need correcting such loot tables, fleshing out crafting and a few other issues. Once they get up to speed on those and merge the servers I will more than happy to give it a shot when/if they hand out a couple of free weeks for those of us they turned off with the launch. In the meantime I have a lifetime sub for LoTRO where I have a ton of things to do since the expansion and I can be patient and give Funcom the time it needs to get things right. |

Getting it for Christmas.
My rig is in the shop getting upgraded.
I figure if I start around Christmas then I should be max level about the time the new dungeons, DX10, and mergers arrive. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Bugs? I don't think I found all that many bugs, it's the linearity that makes me want to vomit. I wont resub until they fix that, means never. |

I see play.com have bargain-binned AoC down from £39.99 rrp to a mere £7.99 and at 80% off I think I might well have a look-see, at least for the 30 days of free play. Shame you have to register a credit card to access your free 30 days, but what the heck. I'm not expecting much from AoC, not after all the gripes and the catastrophic price reduction, but at least I can try it out myself. Comes with a free mammoth mount and there's some mention of a free mammoth Bag too! I'd be bloody furious if I'd paid the rrp to buy this as a Christmas present, mind you. |

I like to take my time and enjoy the story. And I'm a Role Players...so the whole "ZOMG NO CONTENT" thing doesn't really concern me. I'll do some dungeons, PvP in kesh, join up with a good RP guild that does a siege now and then, and have a good time with the game. I create my own content. I like the Lore and the look of the game. I like the feel that it gives me from watching the videos. And if it is really as bad as you say and I'm just being a complete idiot...then I'll come back here, apologize, and resub to WoW. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Interesting that you talk about what you are planning to do in a game you have never played, kinda fishy.
You really should wait till you know what the folks in this forum are actualy talking about. Lotta reasons for the animosity toward FunCom. |

I've been paying attention to these forums for a while now. I know what's available to me. I do my research.
And I know why there is anger towards Funcom...but like I've stated in another thread...Things seem to be taking a positive turn with Craig Morrison in charge. compare how much he's pushed out the door compared to Gaute. Look at what's coming in the next month or two. I understand the anger towards the old Funcom, but things have definitely changed. The change from Gaute to Morrison really did save this game. You don't need to play the game to realize the dramatic change that occured with the new director. It's like Funcom is a whole new company. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

The critics of AoC serve the purpose of balancing out and refuting the completely nonfactual shilltalk from the AoC fanbois and propagandists. Discussion about the game is what is supposed to happen here. That doesn't mean one-sided promotion of the game. If you want that, head back on over to the official forums.... Bugs? Graphics? LMAO. These are not anywhere close to what made me leave the game. Try company ethics. Try community management. Try paid "free" buddy keys. Try volunteer forum mods on a forum that I paid to gain access to. |
