That doesn't make it any less of a loss for fans, and moreover the family. Leukemia is not pretty. I don't really get why you felt the need to post this, not that you don't have the right, but damn. |

Oh no. Thats terrible news. :( I mean, she likely had lived her live, but still. Trek wont be the same without her. I always loved to see her with cameo appearances in various SciFi series, like Babylon 5 and the like. She will be missed.

Maybe its because some of us are sick and tired of people that generally haven't really done anything that get ton of sympathy for thier families and coverage on the news and other media. But the Firefighter that dies of smoke inhalation saving 4 kids from a burning build gets a maybe a 1 minute blurb on local news then is forgot by the rest of the world. Sorry, Its sad anyone dies but if you expect me to cry over this then you seriously over value her contribution to society in my opinion. |

So the amount of sympathy that should be allowed is directly proportional to the contribution the individual makes to society? Sod being your parents and kicking it, you even going to the funeral? ----- |

OMG, WTF was that about! OK, she may not be a hero running into a burning building to save a child, but the woman made a contribution to entertainment for over 50 years of her life, over 40 of those to Star trek alone. She has made people laugh, cry, think and helped to keep Star Trek alive when studios would have seen it disappear without a trace. I haven't said that she was a hero in the sense that you have described, but that won't make her any less missed to the fans of the Star Trek series as a whole. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

There are quite a few Star Trek fans about and she has been a fixture since the Pilot episode of the original series right the way through to the new film to be released next year, so i thought that maybe she deserved a small mention at least. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

Who said anything about her contribution being any greater than your firefighter? Who even said this is going to get more than one minute on most news casts. Your statement us utter nonsense. If we want to leave a passing thought on a forum, then so be it. If you want to badger the wife of what some consider to be an icon, well. As I said before, that is your right, but damn. |
