I always wander around the SWG forums, but I never really post on this site, but I have to say that I am really impressed with what has come of SWG.

I was always off and on with SWG. I started with the release in pre-cu, and I just couldn't get into it. Had a really steep learning curve, no real solid groups of quests, and I just felt like a majority of the classes were unbalanced.

Then came Cu and I felt like it was far to easy to level in that game. Just an easier version of pre-cu. In time I just quit that.

Then NGE came out and at first I was really dissapointed. Alot more bugs, bad interface, really just sloppy all around. So after 2 months of playing NGE i just quit and told myself i'd given up on SWG.

About a month ago I came back for the 5th time, and as of now I am really enjoying it. I think a good majority of the classes are balanced, alot of new instances and PVP areas. A good group of quests.

Yes the game is still buggy, and I really feel like they should update to make a more solid game, but I just can't stop playing I am really having fun.

But overall I just feel like its a better game then other games like WoW, EQ, EQ 2, War, AOC etc. Reading on alot of forums, especially this one the game has recieved a really bad attitude, but I don't blame the vets. After all that work I would be pissed to, but for me in pre-cu I didn't really get to a point where I would say "wow I don't wanna lose this character ever", so I dont mind the NGE right now.

The only problem I have with SWG is the population on most of the servers. Only about 4-5 servers are populated with a decent amount of people. Bria and bloodfin being the heaviest, so right now I am on Bria.  But the server transfer is coming around so that should help alot.

I know this Post is gonna get raped and flamed from the vets but idc. Alot of them probably just sit around and just do their best to bash SWG.

For me I have played games like WOW, EQ, Ultima Online, FF 11 etc. etc. etc. etc. And I just can't get into any of them. But right now SWG is for me and I am really impressed.

Just because someone is a registered member for a while does not mean they are not a game developer or  Dev.  Afterall they do most of thier market research and shit  from forums and such like these.   Its a pretty decent way to see what the mmo player base is thinking on current and unreleased games.

Glad you are having fun with it.  For myself though meh, SWG had the potential but all of the talent left for greener pastures.  Also, the people that enjoy SWG, well I hope they all stay there a good long time :)  That way they don't infect the games I play lol :D

This thread is a typical example of what is often wrong with this site...as soon as someone says something someone else doesn't like, the latter spouts utter nonsense (in this case the OP being on SOE's payroll) and amazingly believes it to be fact. Has it ever occured to you that maybe, just maybe the OP actually enjoys the game now more than he/she did way back when?

I certainly hope this isn't a representation of what was the SWG community back in the day when it was still thriving, as if that is the case I'm not so sad I missed it after all. I hate SOE, but there has to be a point where you draw the line on complete speculation and proven fact. Unfortunately many of the replies to this thread fit the first option.

Same format as all the others...

It's always the same format...  This OP is no different than all the others that come on here and market this game...  You would think eventually they would change up the template a bit though...

Glad to hear you are enjoying SWG, the sentiment you expressed is something I am seeing more and more often in the new and returning players I meet in game.

No i just enjoy it now, but yea MMORPG has really 0 credibility.

bah, don't say that - MMORPG.com is good at giving a voice for fans and haters alike. . . there just happens to be more vocal haters than fans.

Glld you came back and glad you're enjoying it. You're lucky you played on a populated server - that seems to make or break the experience for returning vets.

Like Badger said, those of us who have continued to play over the course of the game SEE people returning and new people joining. You're like me and other vets - we've played the other MMOs and realize that regardless of the petty bugs, the uniqueness of SWG prevails.

None of this stuff changes the fact that if the game were actually good (and run by a good company) more people would be playing it.

This is the central truth that the boosters of this game can't get by.

This game has one single "virtue": it is Star Wars themed.

But so was the infamous Christmas "Life day" TV special way back when.

And Star Wars didn't stop that from sucking, either.

And none of this stuff is meant to change that fact. I honestly don't know why it is so hard to grasp that this thread is about why the OP enjoyed the game, not why those who don't play it don't enjoy it

Funny you should say that, the current "Life Day" celebrations in SWG are based on this travesty.  You can find out more about it here.

with that being said, then you should be aware of the over all feeling toward SWG.  It's no secret that majority on this site forum has ill feelings toward SOE/SWG so not to expect some posts of ill feelings just makes you ignorant.

its not as 'campy' as the special though, thankfully :)

I would lose some immersion if I were to see Luke, Han, and Boba Fettt in a Kum Bay Yah moment at the base of a life day tree as Sean Dean doles out Wookie Ookies and Hoth Chocolate while the Cantina bands plays star warsy and iconic renditions of holiday music.

I just.. meh.. no.

I can't like it anymore, and yes. I've played the NGE, about three times.

It's not my cup of tea when they made it far easier to obtain what you want..

I don't like the insta Fps style nor the UI.

though im glad that you find the game fun at present time.

And yes.. some "vets" are douches and wishes all people that are playing it now to burn in hell for their blasphemy..

Oh well, taste is different. Which makes us humans pretty interesting in whole.

And a sidenote, mmorpg used to be better, now it's just.. meh.

The haters are becoming so lame your on SOE's payroll, your a virual marketer, lol.

Really come you guys are a laugh i read this stuff and say a lot of people on this board need to see a shrink.

The new SWG game is fun and I have logged on to the EmU and guess what I hate how slow our characters use to run. The combat is really better now than the slow comabt, those guys are doing a great job but that game is years away still years. By that time SWTOR will be out.

Get real ok.

Who cares,  SWG will shut down the time TOR releases..

Bad to invest time and money in this dead game  especially cause the count down timer started already ...

10..9.....8....-> TOR launches ..SWG shutdown..

No SWG Pre-Cu, No money to the $OE suckers , simple and fair.

DON't agree to $OE 's EULA. They change the gameplay without respect your investement.

TOR wont be released for another year atleast. SWG still has a lot of time to its act together and start putting out some content that makes people stay.

Errrr, by your own words, you are a vet.  So perhaps you should avoid stereotyping SWG Vets.

And actually, most of the "vets" are no longer around.  If you would care to read of these forums, you would see there are not many.  The fault does not lie with Vets, but with the Management of SOE and LA.

A steep learning curve?!  M'kay...

So, how's that Hoth expansion eh?

That is good to read of.  I wonder why there are so few postings about it.

(couldnt resist even the 1st month of WAR left in 3 weeks)

I used to be acrying vet ,but learned to play and guys ..I love SWG.
