Hey Stradden, You interviewed Tasos and no doubt you spoke with him on an unofficial level. Can you be so good as to give us your opinion after having spoken with Tasos on that unofficial level, on whether or not you feel and believe DarkFall is indeed almost ready for release? One other thing. It is now the 12th December 2008. More than a FEW days have passed since we all here were informed that a release date will be out "in a few days". A couple = 2 A few = 3-4 Several = 5-9 I, and many others am sure will appreciate your feedback on the above.

With a "fanbase" like this, I'm really going to hate chatting in this game. |

Well said. I don't understand the level of hostility shown towards this game just because it's not trying to follow the big marketing budget hype formula of other MMOs. Putting the game's development before ALL other considerations surely has to be admired, no? It's like some of the posters here *want* big MMO companies to continue releasing half-finished titles and expecting gamers to pay them to fix it.
The fact there is almost 200K+ forum/beta subscribers for Darkfall with 5K new subs added every week with *zero* marketing dollars spent is amazing.
Kudos to aventurine, and i sincerely hope they do well, because the MMO genre and industry NEEDs a shakeup. |

If such things happens, one must wonder why: is it because lack of funds to hire a professional? If so, then the followup question would be: is this just another scam intended to rip people "Dark and Light" style? Im speculating here but if they have no money to do real PR or advertising, they go for the shock factor. They try to stirr up some flames to bring DF to attention. It doesn't matter if a lot of people voice their doubtsabout the game, some people will try the game regardless of the general view. A game with so little information so close to release screms to me "im a failure". But we will have to wait and see what will actualy happen. Who knows, maybe everyone will suddenly love open FFA and full loot system. I know i wont. I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time. |

Most hate is directed towards the game Darkfall, not Tasos. Many carebears fears there own game will suffer subscription losses if Darkfall is a success. They're plain egocentric. Aragon - Member of B@D guild |

What we need to learn is to pick the hate from the reality. Most fanboys think that any critic is ´hate´, and therefore it helps to hurt the game itself, for all critics help to improve the game in a way or another. I think that Tasos is totally lost on it. A so secret beta test only means that there is no confidence in the game (specially so near the launch). The arrogance of the PR have been seen on PoBS, and we all know today the ´no crying on red circle´ mantra by now, and how PoBS is a joke nowdays... We dont want to that to happen on DFO, at least the ones who pursue the dream of a GOOD game, not the game itself (be it godd or bad). DFO has an incridible concept, but the reality, today, teached us to be a little more... cautious... D&L. PoBS, AoC teached us a lesson... Great hype, arrogant devs and too promises with very low ´showing it up´ (like the marvelous PvP on battlekeeps, of AoC, the jewel of the crown, or the DX10, never show on beta but promised as ´certain´ until the launch) is a sign of great disaster... And all those points are HUGE on DFO.. (the hype on DFO is higher than the AoC, the arrogance of Tasos is far bigger than even the PoBS devs, and the secrecy of the main features we cant even start with, since we only knew of a ´ghost beta´, without even notices of ANYTHING, and VERY near the launch). I am worried about it, everyday without notices of the beta (the real one, I mean) makes me a little more skeptical about DFO. Notice that I still love the game (the concept of it, I mean), and I really hope that ll those bad signs are only a terrible coincidence...

Again the word is "skepticism", learn the difference, when you use the word "hate" in such an improper manner it just lends to other derogatory labels. Also using desultery words like "Carebears" just lessens others opinion of you. Trying to demean others because they don't enjoy the same play style as you, just negates any opinions you might express. I don't think that anyone that has two feet on the ground is worried about Darkfall being successful. A harsh world like they are proposing will never have a large audience, that is a given. So who is the egocentric on here? |

I don't think so bro, It falls way short. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

Here's proof... there is no open beta. Anything you say may be just a PR or an advertisement. Only public access to a game would mean that there is enough information about the game to make a valid opinion. Anything private is just that, an opinion of someone who is affiliated with the game. Even if there is a preview by an independent magazine or game website, even then its just one single opinion. Definitely not enough. If there is no public beta or public access to the game, then anything you read about DF may be propaganda, trollism, fanboism, advertisement or just simply outdated information. And we all know that game changes so much that what you are told is now, may not be so at the release. I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time. |

Wow. Awesome interview from Tasos. Terrible questioning, MMORPG.com really missed an opportunity to ask good, technical questions and specific gameplay mechanics questions. Even if Tasos had refused to answer every single one, the attempt would have been laudable. I love how annoyed Tasos became with the aweful "vapo" questions. He really poked this community in the eye, which is by far the worst gaming community I've ever come across. I'm very happy to see that. MMORPG.com posters are a tiny portion of the gaming community and are not representative of the overall population by any stretch. Most people have figured out that if you want to actually discuss the game, darkfall.com forums are the place to do it, not this trashy site. Nice work Tasos. |

Now that is kind of funny, since you can't discuss anything on the Darkfall forums because of all the noise from blind faith adherents. Most of us realists have seen this happen time after time. Great expectations dashed upon gameplay of a month or two. While anything is possible, the attitude of Tasos prepares most of us for the expected crash of expectations. I think the only tiny portion of the gaming community are those that post on the Darkfall forums. I have seen more nonsense posted there then anywhere else. Here is what you are going to see come January. The game will release and most probably work decently at the lower levels of play. Expect a lot of promised functions to either be not in game, turned off or not working correctly. The best thing is to expect a mediocre game at first and hope they have the time to fix it before the funders pull the plug. Hopefully this won't be another Dark and Light episode. Remember Eve started out a bit shaky, but it is doing pretty well now, so small indy shops can be a success. |
