Too bad Vaelastrasz isn't in the list.
He's my all time favourite WoW boss:
- huge dps
- very very intense fight

Vael encounter is very short, simple in planning yet can be quite complicated during execution, it is, however: quite an educating fight.

In one fight:
- players are taught how to switch tanks for the first time
- players are taught to output high dps, otherwise healers will-out-threat dps'ers and/or vael will outlast the healers
- players are taught to properly coordinate when to shut dps down for tank transitions

Kalgan,

He takes your money and then repeatedly kicks you in the crotch.  And if the isn't enough, he controlls your mind and yet manages to extract even more money.

That is one tough boss.

Onyxia.  Because that was the last kill (and first kill) where the game still felt epic.

No that was the last kill you remember, since you can't compare because of not playing anymore. So not a valid opinion anymore .Alas.

Mekgineer Thermaplugg.

I've never been able to do all those cool raids and what not, so I would have to say his was a quite fun fight.  Running around pressing the buttons to keep the walking bombs from coming out, and then trying to still kill him.  I ground that dungeon into the ground in my attempts to get the Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator hat.

You realize this game HAS been out 4 years.  I killed half the bosses in TBC before getting a case of Super Meh and bagging it.

Don't pay attention to bodypass hes on this "if u don't play WotLK your opinion of WoW doesnt matter" kick.

Its bullshit cause the guy clearly trolls WAR even though he only played the game like two days, yet that game has changed and he still talks shit since he thinks his point is valid.

I find it funny that that guy was actually a lot more hardcore than you are in WoW now bodypass, hell your running around in welfare epics atleast that guy killed real bosses before the game became total easy mode.

His point is even more valid than yours since you actually consider WoW a pvp game.

LOL QFT  Considering not too long ago, he was on the AoC bandwagon, banner in hand, doing the same thing as now.

Ahh. Dont judge the game judge the fanboi idiot. I think the bigget problem WoW faces is that people like bodypass play it.

My list of best bosses is :)

5 mans.
Van Cleef, while not a boss a Tribute Run through Dire Maul North was awesome fun,Princess in Maraudon was a good fight,Rend in UBRS (ok thats 10 man),Hakkar avatar in Sunken Temple was a good fight

20 man
Bloodlord Mandokir fight was great fun,Gahz'ranka (fish boss) was an awesomely fun boss. Loved being thrown miles into the air
Nothing in AQ20 was fun ... Maybe General Rajaxx ... maybe.

40 man
Onyxia of course. A fight that people still did up until 2.0 because it was fun.
Rag was always epic.Razorgore was an inventive fight. Took a pug to BWL a few weeks ago and had to yell at people repeatedly not to kill razorgore at the start.Vael and Nef.Never got to do AQ40/Naxx at 60 but c'thun and a lot of Naxx bosses looked awesome.

BC
Netherspite,Opera event of course, Prince Malcheezar besides the randomness was fun,VR,downing Kael was probably the most satisfying feeling I ever got from a raid.Lurker,Leotharas was kinda fun except when I was learning it I was affliction spec warlock. Not a fun spec to do leo.

Never fought a raid boss in my four years of playing so I can't comment on the big dudes.

Best fight I've probably had non-raid was Kael in MgT (I was bricking it as a healer trying to avoid the orbs and keep everyone up) and the final boss in one of the Azjol Nerub wings (I forget which, but there's a phase where you fight shades of your party members which was awesome fun).

Granted this instance came in Burning Crusade, which as a whole I did not enjoy, but I gotta say that the Zul'aman (spelling possibly) instance as a whole was enjoyable.

And if I had to pick one boss from that instance I would say I enjoyed Eagle boss the most. Sure he was easy, but it was fun and the lightning and rain effects were cool.

I have not finished all TBC stuff before Wotlk ,but from all the bosses ive done in Wotlk I still dont find any close to the fun I had doing Onyxia, most bosses in MC etc.,40 man raids where hard to form ,but there were a ton of advantages to only haveing 40m:

1.Guild needed to be friendly, mature and had to stick toghter to get things done

2.No easy mode boosting for noobs ,everyone needed to focus (there were always slackers tho)

3.Insured that guilds remained large, active and friendly

Only disadvantage was if you were in a small guild,40 people where hard to round up.

Plus I feel that pre-TBC raids where alot more challenging and actualy gave a sense of achievment when downing them... not like in Wotlk .. hey look boss, let's start ... oh it's over already.

The history of WoW is being re-written with posts like this. 40 mans werent that hard to form. Guilds were just bigger. But by the time patch 2.0 came out there were 20+ MC guilds on the 3 realms I had played on.

Early WoW raids were pretty basic. In MC you would Stand and Spam. Onyxia wasnt gear dependent. You could easily do it in greens and blues if you got the execution right.

Remember when people were doing MC the warrior tanks were 31/5/15.Thats right, what warrior tank ever spec more than 15 points into prot? All druids were forced to heal but 99.9% of them were feral spec. Why do you think Blizzard gave druids took out innervate as the 31 point talent and and made it trainable? Most of the priests I came across doing MC were shadow spec healing through MC.

A lot of guilds did implode on Razorgore or Vael. But casual guilds still had Onyxia, MC, ZG and AQ20 and Azuregos and Kazzak (4 green dragons would have been too hard for them). Thats plenty of easy, simple content.

It wasn't until Twin Emps/C'thun and lvl 60 Naxx did Blizzard start making raiding a lot more difficult and requiring people to be able to play their classes. And then they cut raiding down to 25 ppl.But the problem was that TBC continuned on from C'thun/Naxx in level of difficulty.

And nothing in the history was a bigger guild killer than 3/4 TK and 5/6 SSC. 10000's of guilds imploded over Kael and Vashj. Only having 25 man raids didnt make a difference.

I don't know what lame guild you were in bro but I would never allow my MT or main OT tanks in MC/BWL/AQ and Naxx with a shitty hybrid Arms/Prot build. Sure if there was a 4th or 5th tank that handled adds like 5% of the time he could be specced that way. But as a MT myself any serious guild would kick thier ass right out for using that BS spec.

Those tanks must really hate thier healers to tank with that spec.

Well I'm totally in the nostalgia sector here. Really nice reading up on those good ol' boss fights. There was a lot of good fights imo.

Favorites for 5 man is:

Van Cleef. Just because it was my first taste of a boss (yes, WoW was my first MMOG). Then again, the whole deadmine instance is great to me just because of this factor.

High Inquisitor Whitemane! Such a great fight, compared to the others at the time. And for some reason I love clearing up to the fight. Again, the instance itself was soooo good. And the loot she had! Daum. Such awesomeness. I had both her hammer and her chapeu (I was a priest).

Then there's Princess Theradras. Still remember the first time I got afflicted by that bunny-jump effect. In retrospec, I think the boss was perfecty tweaked for PUGs of those time. People hadn't quite gotten used to scripted fights, and had some problem co-operating, but still managed to get the concept more and more. I don't think I could count the amount of times me and the PUG barely made it.

The troll rush event!! Being a priest on that boss/event is just so much FUN. Throw a heal here, run up to another as fast as you can, heal him, throw some pains here and there. All in all, a very fun fight.

Ok. Over to lvl 60 instances.

I really like the Rend encounter. Then again, I like the whole UBRS instance. I did it alot to farm the dragonrider boots, so I have alot of stories from that place. I mean, General Drakkisath is awesome as well. When the instance was new and hard, it really forced PUGs to start working with strategies. As a guy who pugged alot, I think its a great encounter.

I love Onyxia of course. It was my first raiding love. A big nostalgia bomb as well as a lovely fight. She had three phases, and the raiding-group really had to co-operate with eachother. The encounter required timing, vigilance, placement and you didn't have to equip epics to do it. It was at that time you could farm for blues for raiding, so you could really fine tune your gear, by farming 5-man instance. Also, this was the first time I experienced the fun of a guild, howlilg and shouting and talking on Ventrilo. The roaring form the commanders, and the MASSIVE howling when the beast died.

Baron Geddon! Hehe. Just gotta love that bomb gimmick of his. All the commotion that caused. I love this fight just because of how he could stir up a fight on Vent.

I love Ragnaros of course as well. The most epic time I have ever experienced in any game is when we downed him. (And how we shouted when we downed him :P ) The encounter was so great. As a combination of Shadow Priest and healer (yeah, I was one of those), it required me to run around alot.

Oh and last from my oldies list, is Razorgore. Remember how uptil then most fights always had gimmicks, but really wheren't that advanced? To wonder it took so long for guilds to down this bastard. This was the first taste of an encounter where you really had to run around and be on your toes, and be creative with your strategies. And as a Shadow Priest/Healer, it was so much fun, as I had to heal people all the while slowing down mobs that passed me with Mind Flay, as to help the guys that kited them.

After that and a few attempts at Vaelstrasz, I had to quit because my school started demanding alot of time. When I hear how much fun my friends had at the other bosses later on, I feel kinda sad. Oh well, was still alot of fun though.

So that's my list of most favourite encounters (though in reality I could've added ALOT more). Was fun venting the nostalgia.

Hello there, adventurer!
