Theyre professionals? It was my understanding they were pulling friends, family, and local college kids for it. I might be wrong, but if they cant afford marketing, how can they afford professionals?

Funny thing is myself have read original employment ads from Aventurine  in popular greek gaming forums not related to university.

Thats why  ADW  was highly needed  ;)

I guess DF received far more recognition worldwide then local.

Thanks Korvenus for posting the Absolute truth!  It's funny how every time I ask this exact same question the fanboys come up with all kind of excuses, even when I ask that someone prove to me that they have played the game and I get the "NDA" BS that is preventing them from leaking information....well I wil be damned because as long as I have been on these forums tons and I mean tons of Members have posted and broken the NDA when AoC and WAR where in beta testing phases....................Now someone apparentely breaks the NDA and rants out Tasos and DF for what it is, his post get's deleted.........now I wonder what fanboys in here have Mod priviliges and are censoring to their own advantage.............wonder if there is some kind of favoritism towards a game no one can say really exits besides that ONE SOLO ONLY Beta tester who spoke the truth and got his entire Thread deleted.............

Its worse to actually think about doing something then actually doing it!!!

IGN had previews for whole weeks back in 07 I believe, so be quiet about those bad websites...some people may know better than you

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included.

on the bottom are all the previews from 1-31 on IGN, interviews with lead producers, world designer BT oren and others, made at the end of 2006

and if I know aventurine they wont do any traditional interviews or promotions untill open beta (probably in january) or at the end of OP...1 week before release

that beiing said I trust these guys...we will see in january if they achieved something memorable or not

There have been leaks, but hastily cleaned up. There was a screenshot where some names of beta testers could be seen, and some people checked Forumfall for anyone using that name and apparently a long term follower came up. So people who claim there are no leaks are just not fast enough to find them before they are...disposed of...or they just aren't looking hard enough.

Plus, if someone claimed to be from beta, they would need to supply screenshots and other such proof to show they were indeed in beta, since people have been faking it.

DARKFALL 09!

Apparently 08 didn't make it :(

Guess these describes the job position and hints it will not be like "playing the game all day" but a serious step in Quality Assurance.

There is no talk about payment here but  "part time" and "full time" hints these are paid positions..

They do mention the word "interns" in there as well though... so not sure how that would be interpreted.  A person could probably make a case one way or the other.

I wouldn't disagree that a person could come to the conclusion that they are paid positions.

On the flip-side; if someone were to argue they were intern/student positions whose main reward was "serious experience in game development"... that would be hard to discount as well.

One thing to look into on this subject.  Has Tasos ever referred to these testers as PAID professional testers... or just professional testers?  Not saying that proves they are not PAID if he has not said it.  But if he has specifically said PAID; then that should be enough to put an answer to the question on that particular topic.

Not sure if its true or not..... Im guessing not,  just like the jan 22 release date.......... Sorry I just cant believe a word that comes out of   Mr T's mouth anymore..   and im not talking about the A-Team.

I saw that as well, it doesn't look credible imo.

Yeah I didn't think so either..... I just can't believe there isnt' more stuff on Darkfall. Hell  Fallen Earth has more info about it and its still in Alpha Testing.  All the info about FE is credible though IMO.

They seriously must have ninjas hiding out in testers houses and killing people that think about leaking stuff.

I accredit the small amount of leaks to the fact that they dont have mostly friends and family involved in the testing. Tasos has said that its just that the testers are loyal and dont talk, but I call bullshit on that.

...Have you taken a look at the Darkfall forums? People are so loyal to this game it's borderline insanity.

You know what's really odd?   In Greece playing video games is technically illegal:

In 2002 the Greek government, ostensibly in an attempt to fight illegal gambling, passed the ambiguous and controversial law 3037/2002 which effectively banned all electronic games, including those running on home computers. The bill was formulated after a member of the ruling Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) political party was videotaped in an illegal gambling establishment, resulting in public hysteria that was fueled by sensationalist reporting in the press. The bill was declared a law on July 30, 2002.
During a case against some Internet café owners who allowed their customers to play online chess and other games, a local court in Thessaloniki declared the law unconstitutional. More than 300 people were gathered outside the court in support of the Internet café owners.
The European Commission sent an official letter to the Greek Foreign Ministry explaining that the law may be in conflict with European legislation. In that case, the European Court of Justice could take action against Greece.
The law would affect both Greek citizens and foreigners.
On September 24, 2002, government officials published a document in an effort to clarify the controversial articles of the law.
After the European Union intervention and debates with the Internet café owners, the government passed a new decision (1107414/1491/T. & E. F.), published in the Government Gazette issue 1827, on December 8, 2003. The new law clarifies some articles of 3037/2002 but it still bans video games in Internet café, and computer software which delete or encrypt files on hard disks of computers owned by Internet café.
The law is currently suspended as unconstitutional; therefore, it is not being enforced.[citation needed]

I could be wrong on this one but....

That may be why he said "TECHNICALLY" illegal... right?

He did show that Greece had indeed passed a law making playing video games illegal.  He then provided full disclosure on the subject and included information that saner heads had pre-vailed and suspended the law and that it wasn't being enforced.

That information doesn't change the fact that it is still... TECHNICALLY illegal... right?

Uhm ...these law was never aimed at video games per se...it was aimed towards illegal gambling..

Particullary some jump and run type games when you get the possibility to collect game score points that could be exchanged to real money. yes, thats has extensively been done and had to be put under control but they saw such a law isn't practicaly for that and thats why its suspended..

it was all about gambling not video gaming.

If the law is suspended it is no longer in effect, if the law is not in effect then it isn't legal. For it to be Technically illegal the law would still have to be in effect but not enforced. It's like growing 11 illegal plants in some place that legally allows you to grow 10 for personal use. The 11th plant is technically illegal but more than likely it will not be enforced.

Tasos, one of the developers, already stated in an interview ON THIS WEBSITE that the game is ready to be released, but that they wanted to knock out all the kinks and bugs before release.
