I've been playing all day as a totally random character type...I'm loving this game seriously.

I'd always been put off because of the top-down view, but it's actually a really cool game.

So my question is...what do I NEED to know as a n00b?

Start Chopping wood for Str. if you are going to play as melee or start useing Spirit Speak to get Int. up if you are going to be a caster.

Also be ready to get hooked for along while if you have never played because that game is what everyone wants but in 3D.

I played for 6years on Great Lakes and my old guild is still there and going strong. I have thought about going back but I love 3D graphics to much to do it hehe.

Assassin's like to do it in the dark and from behind.

I saw someone is working on a 3-d mod for Ultima Online. It looks amazing.

If you're going to stick it out there, don't be afraid if you get it cut off.

Very interesting.  UO has such a great tradition and following I think it will eventually be seen in 3D in one form or another.  Well I suppose that's pretty much what EQ is though.

UO use to be my favorite game and still has some of the best concepts in MMOs.  As a new player you will find that you are in a very small minority, but the community of UO is much older and more mature than what you will find in the others such as WoW, WAR, AoC ect.  That being said, you should socialize and make some friends and you will get a great character soon with the help of others.  Also, get a house somewhere, somehow because you will accumulate a ton of stuff that is great to stock pile:)

I'm also new..I love how you advance skills instead of levels aka Morrowind....Seems to have a large learning curve vs. no learning curve like the more simplistic mmo's

You can download that actually, it is not a client only a software that lets you use the "failed" 3-d models and puts you on a different camera tho those 3d models are horribly ugly. Kingdom Reborn is a fresh new look and I`d love it  if theres a way to use it on classic Second Age freeshards, but sphere is not compatible...
