30 days... anyone else get this?  Strange that they wouldn't offer me AoC play time.  Is Anarchy graphic update comming soon?

Yeah I recieved it as well.Haven't played in a few years but downloading the client now.Not sure about when the graphics update is coming out but I'll take the 30 free days and dust off my MP.

Yeah but this is 30 days free with expansions included.

I got it and my favorite part is

-You have a time-limited offer to upgrade your account with 30 days of free game time.

- This offer will expire on the 31st December 2008

I got this email on December 3rd. By my count that is 28 days, not 30.

edit: maybe I was reading it wrong and it's 30 days from when I sign up...if I were to. I might though. I did like AO.

got it too.. thank god i didnt delete the game so the patching didnt take long, they didnt add that much since i left the game about 3 months ago, but its always nice to see your guildmates still playing, its the only reason why id want to reactivate the sub

@qotsa: i reactivated today and i can play for free till jan 9th :)

edit: just saw latest post from the game director, the current eta on the new graphics engine is... summer 2009. ouch. and ofc it can be delayed again :p

also the boosterpack is getting a release soon.. will be 20 bucks or 10 bucks with 1k paid points (u can earn paid points with real cash, being subbed for a while, or making use of a offer like the one now, where u get 700 paid points if u resub)

I got curious about this game since it's one of the few that sci-fi.

I'd like to try it for some months before maybe making a subscription but...

I read on on wikipedia that there's a deadline to the Free To Play program(basci game + 1st expansion only), although it has been regularly extended so far.

So: is it going to still be Free To Play in the future?

I don't want to start the game and have to quit it too soon :(

The Free-to-Play thing automatically gets renewed each year.  No chance of them ever stopping that - the paying players all have free auxilary accounts they use for storing stuff on 'mules' and Funcom gets advertising revenue from the free players viewing the billboards in-game.

There is a 'deadline' but it has been pushed back a year every year since they started the free play.

froobs (the free players) are the lifeline of this game, they keep the servers very busy. it  would be a healthy pop without them (well at least on RK2 where i play), its not like almost everyone is a free player.. far from it. most, me included, start out as free players and see how much the expansions have to offer and buy those.

There is a 'deadline' but it has been pushed back a year every year since they started the free play.

Yep.  It's just their safety net in case they ever do need to end the program.  Also, they get to announce that the free program has been "renewed" every year and it usually manages to make the rounds on gaming news sites and blogs.

So are there many players on AO?

All reports I have seen suggest somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 subscribers, and a similar amount of freebie players.

yes i also got the time and also currently playing trying to find a class gonna reroll got a 85 MA i also have all expansions and on my MA got pred set and GMW he's a good character love all my AO fans.

That was a trial for the paid expansions then. You can still play for free as froob, but you probably need to create a new account for that.

They recently had an issue with the free accounts, and the free account offer actually expired for about a day.

I think you can just go to register.funcom.com and reactivate the account, but you might want to check their forums, or even email accounts@anarchy-online.com first.

if you used the 'upgrade' key in your mail, your account is now a paid account.

if you want to keep playing as a froob you need to make a new account
