Beta is definitely for testing a game.  No doubt about that.  It's a great thing.  When a game has this many problems though.  How could you even consider taking it to OB.   RoM has been nothing but problems since I first downloaded it.  As rude as it is to say.  I honestly believe the people that are respondsible for the US/EU localization of it, are in way over there heads.  A growing list of people having problems with the game at various points.  With a wide range of cards from low-end to top-end.  Incompetent people working for them, that have no idea what they are talking about.  They seem to be unable of fixing the problems with the game, or even understanding what is causing the problems.  All and all they seemly highly incompetent.

If you are interested in trying RoM.   By all means please do.  If you run into a problem though with the client.  You might as well just uninstall and find something else to play.  Because you will not find help in fixing your problem.  The only thing you'll likely receive is a headache from dealing with their "helpers" that seem to be to put it bluntly, mentally challenged.

It would be interesting if you told us what some of your problems were.   The game ran fine for me.   It did take a while for them to activate accounts on Monday, but thats not really a big deal, since I think most people got to start before their 6pm deadline.

I actually was playing this last night for a bit.

I was somewhat impressed by a few things they did or stated.

However, I would say this game probably isn't anything I could play long term.  Beyond that I had no technical issues with the game at all.

It would be easier if you did list problems you had.. then if other people have them they know they aren't alone.  It might also be possible to find a solution with some actual data on the problem..

The game runs flawlessly for me The quest are well done, the Dungeons are fun, all in all it has a lot to offer. I say the game is a sucsess, how is your opinion worth more than mine?

buggy combat system (often times hits wont even register or skills wouldent fire)

Graphics are lame (some textures are just gradients)

uninspiring everything (cookie cutter classes, houseing is a useless five minute mini game at best, the zones are just ovals with different fog colors and retextured trees)

quests all fetch

ungodly grind after 20

no respectable pvp

dungeons are basicly square rooms connected to gether wth a circle of mobs in the center of each one.

horrible character creaton ( severely limedted looks)

Nope he's not.......just uninstalled the thing, some of the bugs are just beyond repair imo but, still this is one of the best F2P games out there.

Downloaded and installed last night with no problems. Doesn't seem any more buggy than any other Beta I've played.  Aside from getting disconnected from the server a couple times during character creation everything ran smooth.

        I tried to download it last night and after 8 hours there was nothing there when the download finished.......THis was off the download at gamershell.......

Same here.  Can't comment on bugs, downloaded for 12 hours ended up with nothing.

Is there a better way to download this?  I'd like to at least see the game.

I didnt have any of the problems that people mentioned,  But after making a character and being in the world for 10 minutes I just  lolled and logged.

The graphics are terrible, Dungeon runners is better.

Just download it as a torrent (google "runes of magic torrent" to find one).

You will OF COURSE remember to check the downloaded files for virus/malware.

btw. I am also "quite" experienced  with computergames (25 years general/10years w.mmos) and I happen to like this game so far. - So as always: the beauty is in the eye(s) of the beholder . ->

I guess I'm just lucky when it comes to games...I've not ran into a single bug with mine.  Same thing happened in AoC, everyone complained about bugs, I never had a single one in that game either....I'm starting to think some of you people just say, "omgz bugs bugs bugs" just because someone else said it....The OP doesn't list any problems he's had, making his post irrelevent.

I'm having no major problems.  Installation was a bit annoying, until I figured out it wasn't a bug and I just had to select my language preference fifty times during the process. There are a lot of spots where the game is still untranslated, and I'm having some minor sound issues at the moment.

All in all, it feels like an open beta.

When all else fail, use a torrent, this one has over 50 seeders....

The buggs in the combat system wasn't there 2 weeks ago so it is something with a patch.

The character creation system is bad, that is true, 'cept the hair colour sytem, I like that part. Still even that is far better than any F2P games I played and I played quite a few.

No, this is not a game that will compete with the top of the line P2P games but as F2P games go it is in it's own class.

I never had any big problems with it but II had to restart the patcher once, it locked up and now I sometimes get weird "cannot use the skill message" in combat. Still the game is far more stable than WAR and AoC was at release, for one thing I never had the game crash yet, and I been playing for 2 months.

So OP, which F2P games are a succes if this is a failure?

You're not "lucky," you're just oblivious. Every complicated piece of software has bugs. Even released software has bugs. If you're not seeing any, you're not paying attention.

Also, the Original Post wasn't irrelevant. It IS the main subject of this discussion. Do you even know what "irrelevant" means?

In fact, I'm pretty sure you don't even understand what a "bug" is.

Heh I betad AoC too, and I found lotsa buggs there... And a few bugg here including a small exploit, but that is kinda my mission as a beta tester, to find and report those kinda things, no need for a beta if there wasn't any buggs. However they are probably fixed by now but I keep looking for them until the beta stops.

Frogster have said that they will release more classes later, so post a suggestion on their board.... You have to live with the scout class for now.

It might not be irrelevant but it is not very useful without telling us the buggs.

It is kinda like saying something is bad but not saying why.... The OP have the right to dislike any game he likes but it would be easier to see he's point if he was more specific.

I hate to say it but even if there wasn't such a thing as a WoW clone. This would still be a number one contender. The gameplay and interface was so similar it was sickening. I logged out and uninstalled barely ten minutes into it.  Don't even bother with this one guys.

what your not getting is this will be a F2P game...if your baseing  playing a game due too it copying another then wow should thank its stars that everyone isnt like you or it wouldnt have had 1 sub.i have played this and i have played 90% of mmos out there f2p or p2p and this is one of the best f2p out there as long as they clean up a few things and balance some of the classes it will be a great game.do not listen to comments like this guy try it ...give it more then 10 minutes if you dont like it...hey no harm no foul.it was free.

Yeah Im surprised that they didn't have a torrent  option on the site.  But yeah I played in closed beta but not all that much I was to busy with my Main mmo, but Im going to try and play this game again cuz im bored once again.

Runes of magic is a very good game, especially since it is free to play, calling it a failure from the gate just shows that you had no inteniton of liking this game anyway.

This game is definatly worth playing, and definatly worth giving  at a bare minimum your own attempt at enjoying and not take one of the usual f2p hate threads as your guide.

The way I see it, it is a Beta and they are still working on getting out bugs and with mostly new staff it will take a while to get things sorted out. This is more than I can say for World of Warcraft who after being one of if not the biggest MMORPG in the subscription based market for the last 4 years are still having issues with players falling thru the maps, heavy lag, mail issues, frequent rolling restarts, evading mobs, glitching instances, typos in item names and the list goes on and is long.  Seeing this is still a beta and not even set for intent for public release with a date or timeline, I would have to say they are in pretty good shape considered to Blizzard I mean seriously after 4 years and when a player does not get an achievement they earned and the ticket  reply reads "It is working as intended" I think we no need to point fingers at the fre 2 play games we need to point the fingers at who is having a multi billion dollar Christms on our money.

I guess I should clarify my post earlier.  I kind of left out a pretty important word.  I meant to say, I haven't seen any major bugs. one's that cause windows blue screen, or freeze the computer, or crash the game, or interfer with my gameplay...I have noticed some smaller ones, that aren't really all that bad, some minor graphical glitches, but nothing that really takes away from the experience of playing probably the best f2p mmo, and it's still in beta.
