I don't see any overhyping. It's a quality title that a few people will really enjoy. I haven't heard anyone saying it's a WoW killer or even close. |

An that is what makes it so much of a threat to other mmorgs. No one is saying its the new king. So people are not going to walk into the game comparing it to WoW that has been out for years at least not to the extreme. An since it has release far better then recent titles with a no commitment option to try it out. It does not have that stigma that comes from trying a new mmorpg. Add the the features that no mmorpg has like the combat system for example. An you got a even better exprience. Plus the game released not to long ago and they already have a content patch coming. If you can speak German you will find out on there forums that additions like mounts, expansions on pvp..etc are also in the works who knows some of it may be in this first patch since it is a content patch after all. The way I see it Spellborn is starting out on a steady but good pace that will grow into a powerful beast. Does this mean it will be the WoW killer? I say no. ( WoW is to big right now) I will say this. If Spellborn release features that rival or surpass what WoW currently has then I think there is some reason for concern. |

i played it for a couple hours and didnt like it. definitely not a mmorg i find myself playing, i had basically the same experience with warhammer if not worse. boring, confusing, no sense of direction, a quirky, awkward interface and using a target reticle which feels very restrictive. graphics are nice, very nicely stylized, music, sound is done well, animations are nice, character models are nice,. But the quest system is atrocious as you have no bearing on where you have to go basically says go here to this farm. end up having to stop look at the overhead map and fudge around on where you have to go, most of the time i happened to stumble onto my quest giver/destination. I found myself confused on where i had to go at times, as I had no sense of where I should go, the overhead map wasnt done well. tutorial gets in the way of your movement as the window comes up you cant click on anything. the whole quasi FPS.twitch target reticle is silly to the say the least and not well implemented, if you click on a NPC the reticle just snaps back to the middle, even despite holding down, when you want to talk. or merely trying to click on a NPC can be annoying. overall just a bad experience. 3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 285 GTX 1GB, 640GB HD SATA II, ThermalTake 850Watt PSU. They told me I'd never survive, but survive was my middle name. |
I'm so confused about this game. Is it officially launched, yet? If so why has MMORPG.com not moved to to the released titles, yet? Playing: Age of Conan, Aion: Tower of Eternity.

The first thing someone needs to do when starting TCoS is to forget everything they have ever come to know and expect in other MMOG's. I also have to ask you this... were you playing the game in your native language or were you counting on icons and markers to get by? I am asking because for me it was rather trivial to figure out where to go. |

OK thanks for responding. I'm now pretty well convinced that your problem was reading comprehension. I have a hunch that this will be a problem with many people trying to play TCoS. |

I am hoping that this keeps away a good many of the people the likes of which ruin MMORPGs for me. The game can be fantastic (and to be honest, there are many fantastic games out there, WoW in fact being one), but the people that exist in the virtual world can kill it for you (and this has happened to me with many games, WoW in fact being one). TCoS may not be the best game I've ever played, but it is very good. But if the roleplaying is good, and the very stupid stay away or leave rather quickly, it could very easily be the game for me for a long time. |

I have to agree with this because I hardly had any problems with the quests. It's all about reading and understanding. If you only trust arrows and markers to get by then there are easier games out there to suit your taste. Simply put, it just wasn't your kind of game. |

The quests harken back to when you weren't handed absolutely everything, and quests didn't give you a giant blinking red arrow which you could click to teleport you to the exact area you need to be in just in case the huge red blob on the map wasn't precise enough, which is fine for me. I remember the days of EQ where quests consisted of saying the right thing to an NPC, then the quest being "This rare item drops off something in this giant corner of the world, go find it! 8D". Considering you're given fairly easy and detailed instructions on where to go, I never had a problem with any of the quests. At no point did the game seem overly complex or confusing, it's just different. The game requires a bit of thought. If that's asking too much well hey, WoW is always looking for more subs. |

im all for bringing the hype down. i see tcos like eve, a game that has the potential to attract a solid, loyal fanbase and slowly develope. also for me the last week of small patches showed me that the devs are in controll of their product, something that i missed a lot when the "old" aoc team patch-broke stuff almost on a weekly basis. if your bored, visit my blog at: |

Since when is it a bad thing or even worse not taken seriously, when you do not to like something despite giving it a go,and feel it doesnt "play" right, or interest you. 3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 285 GTX 1GB, 640GB HD SATA II, ThermalTake 850Watt PSU.
