As of now I belive the only info from blizzard is that it will be a completely new world, ie, not WOW2, world of starcraft, or Diablo universe, ect. And saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade that, with it, thou mayest blow thine enemies to tiny bits....in thy mercy." |

Before WOW, there were MMORPG''s. After WOW there were online solo single RPG''s. |
I heard the same, new IP. However, I've been trying to piece together the puzzle for some time, gleaning what I can from the internet. Now check this link: http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/07/blizzard-keen-o.html Now, consider the following: 1) WOW is getting long in the tooth; everything has to be replaced some day. 2) Fantasy PVE MMO's have been the most commercially successful; this is where the biggest money is. 3) Sooner or later, someone is going to capture WOW's base, so it might as well be themselves. (Says so in the article). My conclusion is that we will see a new fantasy MMO of epic proportions, and one in which the difficulty factor might be ratcheted up a notch. Not too hard, but enough to challenge the now veteran players of the aging WOW MMO. I always thought that an MMO with Blizzard's polish coupled with the freedom and challenges of earlier MMO's might make for one heck of a game. We will see.

They would still need to have a modest graphical engine to capture a worldwide market, one wonders just how far into the future they will announce the title 3-5 years time is my guess. This would give the potential market time to improve its own hardware enough for them to justify releasing a next gen title. Wow has at least another 2 expansions in it before the playerbase starts to erode, at current rate we're looking at around 18 months per xpac. What the new ip will be is anyones guess, they havent stated whether it will be fantasy or sci-fi. |

A combination Skill Based and XP based MMO. Here is an example: I have a sword that needs to me made: I choose a guildy that is 1 of 20 races in the game that has picked up sword crafting. Not just crafting weapons but Sword Crafting. He is on lets say Week 2 SKill Training his skills in Steel Making (need to give it a title). He is using such and such ore that can only be found in a number of places. He advances and learns he can extract other minerals in seperate amounts (This is a random extract ) So he is ready to make the Sword but he doesn't have enough of it, he can farm for more or buy it at the market. He see's one in the auction house and the ore used was farmed in another COUNTRY. He looks further in the AH and sees completed items to build the sword made by other RACES. My feeling is that if you get items to build something from different regions and finished products made and sold from different races and you are on a specfic Time Stamp during the production process. The weapons should look different from everyone elses, and have unique stats also that cannot be calculated because there is to much of a random factor. There is a lot more to this, but I would hope it would be this complex. |
