A few days ago, I received an in game mail containing 5 plat from someone that I didn't know. The mail simply said 'thanks' so I figured I must have helped someone out and forgotten about it. This morning, I logged in to find that I have no money on any of my characters on that account, so I contacted support. Apparently the money I'd received had been duped and I should have reported it immediately. Support said that they removed all my money because that 5 plat was not only duped, but sent from an account they had discovered was used for gold selling. I had close to 200 plat on that account, so why would I have bought 5? Ugh. Send any donations to Smoodles on Antonia Bayle :) |

lol SOE have no way of knowing that I didn't buy that money, so this is the best way of dealing with it. Sure, I'm not exactly pleased about it, but I do think it's fair and just. It really is my fault for not reporting it and by all rights, my account should have been banned. |

You know what OP,
I have heard this exact same story from people on AB (as I am on AB too) and I have to say it is scary. If they took my plat I would most certainly quit. As I am very close to anyway... SOE's Ironclad EULA gives them the power to do whatever they want before they understand the full story and figure out the facts as in your case ...... and you pay for it. Good bye SOE.... |

You're not the first to report this kind of thing happening, although others I have read of have contacted the company and have received adequate resolution. Most everyone wants the gold sellers/buyers to suffer, but not at the expense of innocent users. I hope you get some satisfaction from SOE. That said, you posted on this forum, so be ready to be called a "baby" in. . . 3. . . 2. . .

And THAT is why I play on a Live Gamer server! Anyways, sucks to loose all that money man, if I played on AB I'd drop you off a couple of plat. |

What an easy way to destroy a game. Dupe money send it to a lot of people saying thanks for your help they take the money make sure you get caught duping all accounts that received the dupe money get wiped a lot of upset players Good job SOE! Allow these people to destroy your game community by punishing innocent people. |

Meet people from all over the world... then kill them. |
It should be clear to all by now that SOE is crawling with saboteurs. Good or great games based on slam dunk franchises - failures. The MMO industry's gleaming flagship brought down by design features copied from a canceled competitor. Obvious interface and community niceties present for years in one game but never implemented in the others. Probably the best game in the world down in flames thanks to an early launch, ugly characters, and terrible sound design. A game no one asked for released two years early. And another. The only MMOFPS in North America goes two years without an update or even some news - and with the exception of Archlord it remains the only 3D MMO anywhere that won't run under Vista SP1. Untold gallons of talent dumped into imaginary TCGs. Three minutes to log into a ten year old game. A ten year old game with bugged music. Am I forgetting anything? All this and no one ever seems to get fired. This has been the longest thrown fight in history. einexile the meek |

if i had 200 plat, and was given 5 plat, yeah id feel guilty for not reporting it. but id throw a fit if they wiped all my 200 plat. if they didnt resolve it, by putting back the other 195 plat id cancel my sub str8 away. but seems the OP doesnt care that the devs took 195 pp, so his complaint seems suspect. 195pp isnt easy to make. takes a bit of work regardless. 3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 285 GTX 1GB, 640GB HD SATA II, ThermalTake 850Watt PSU. Im gonna grab the excuse to rant about SOE Support - They are the worst customer services you can expect from any company :P I bought the latest expansion at full price - logged into my account a few weeks later to find that it had been removed. Sony asked me to provide proof that THEIR PAYMENT SUPPLIER had received the money. Thank god some very smart guy on the forums figured it out else I would still be $60 down. -- |

I have 4 mastercrafters. Even lvl 22 mastercrafted plate armour sells for around 25g each on my server (presumably due to Shadowknight being the current FotM class). Adept 3 spells from 70-80 sell for 3pp upwards. I made the money back within 48 hours. Incidentally, I'm levelling up a conjuror (lvl 73) at the moment, and made 5pp in 4 hours just from running missions in Kylong Plains and selling the rewards and other trash loot. I also got 2 master spells that sold for 10pp and 14pp. Essentially, 195pp is easy to make (for me) but would indeed be hard for a newer player, or a non-crafter. |

This has happen to someone I know ...... This is what happen
Person A asked person B to go buy a rare Master that they needed. So person B says ill buy it and just pay me back later. Person A pays person B back. Person B logs on the next day and ALL his plat is gone. Turns out the plat that Person A had was duped....
Also heard of someone selling an item... someone buys that item.... the person selling the item gets his plat taking because the plat used to buy that item was duped...
I love the fact they are hard on farmed gold.... but seems there is collateral dmg to come with it

You should never worry about leaving a game because of your high level player or whatever,it is just a game just a character,it means nothing in real life. |

I dunno, just can't see anyone still playing after a company took all their hard earned money unfairly. It doesn't smell right... the game can't be that fun.

I think I simply view my MMO life a bit different from a lot of you. This has become very apparent with the recent outcry over RMT. Maybe it's because I worked in the industry for so long, or maybe it's because I used to be a hippy. I don't take these things personally, I don't get angry about anything that happens in-game, and I don't consider the fact that I pay to play a game a legally binding contract. Take off your tinfoil hats - this isn't a conspiracy against the players, nor were my funds bought. My opinions on RMT are irrelevent. I made this thread as a warning for all that if you get sent money from an unknown source and you don't report it, then SOE could take action. I personally find it reassuring that they are keeping tabs on things. If I was upset or considered this detrimental to my gameplay, then I would stop playing, but so far the only time any game company has pissed me off that much was by introducing the NGE in SWG. |

It was a while ago lol New years 2007/8 I bought RoK from the SOE store and SOE implemented a new EU payment system. All of a suddenly peoples accounts had the expansion removed and their forum was dominated with posts about it. We had to find the payment ID using the companies web site (I forget the companies name) and give it to SOE. I complained ot the BBB and the response I got was basically "Stop whining, it works now". -- |

Your willingness to be treated so poorly by SOE will make them much more likely to treat others poorly. Your acceptance does nothing but make SOE a worse company.

Pure logic prevails! Bravo, this lad is quite correct and I would not set an example for SoE if I had the choice. |

It is not so hard, if you are lucking and get a few master spells at high levels you have them fast. I guess the goldseller sent the gold wrong but it is kinda odd, 5 plat is peanuts, who buy so little? And if the OP is really addicted he would still play even if Smedley came home to him to give him a wedgie every day... |

I see from your post history that you are one of the SOE hatecrew, and that's fine with me. Personally, I have a vendetta against carrots. However, I don't consider this being treated poorly (they're showing that they are taking an active stance against gold sellers/buyers) at all. I should probably add that they credited this account 28 days playtime as an apology yesterday. I hadn't requested or expected that, so it was a lovely surprise. Such a bad company. lol |

Good for them (and you) that they gave you some form of restitution for deleting you in-game money. It does nothing to change my point that your willingness to defend SOE deleting your in-game money in the first place will make it much more likely they will do it to someone else. Your acceptance of poor treatment only increases the likleyhood that someone else is going to recieve similar treatment.

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp. |
As the OP said, while it was an annoyance they made the money back in a very short time period. If they enjoy the game then it would be foolish to leave family and friends over the mistake SOE made.
If the OP had said SOE punished them by wiping their characters out, then they would be foolish to continue playing. I've had similar non-critical issues with various gaming companies over the years and just mark it down as one black mark in the book. Too many (subjective to each person) black marks with one particular company would equal loss of my sub. |
