Hmm brings to mind the saying whats worth more the bird in the hand or the two in the bush.... VG is a huge, diverse game with tons to explore and works pretty well all around. Darkfall is an unknown game from a tiny company with no track record and no real public info, about a month from release with a tiny closed beta that many people say is a joke... So tell me really who is the fool... |

While I would like to see Darkfall do well for its market (hardcore PvP play) and give independant companies a boost, the above statement is about as true and as short as it can be said. The Pvp server in Vanguard was hardly ever filled even to this day. It's not a major draw to the typical Vanguard player. Heck, most of the Vanguard fans are pure crafters from EQ and fight when they get bored of crafting hehe. You're more likely to find someone with 2+ maxed crafting skills than 2+ adventure skills. I think the reverse is true: the fact the Vanguard has so many diverse classes and races built into the game (was it 18 races, 16 classes?), made the PvPers that came there excited at the possibility of many fights with many classes. I really do believe there is a much hungrier PvP crowd in AoC and especially WAR, who's fans call themselves hardcore PvP because it was billed as WARRGH all the time. A lot of people in War, from what you read, consider it a halfway house until something better comes out. Darkfall definitely sounds like, from what I read, to be truly war all the time and everywhere. |

SWG was a huge, diverse game where I met hundreds of great people - infact I've never played a game that comes close to how much enjoyment that game gave me. SOE completely destroyed it. Now they are in the process of destroying EQ2 and you have to realise that this only leaves Vanguard left sice the Matrix Online, and PoBS are pretty much dead/dieing. "So tell me really who is the fool..." Sure the fool(s) are those that carry on handing over money to SOE whilst being walked all over. The fools are those that cling on to the belief that SOE will not ultimatly screw up their game after they have built up an incredible community and spent hours on thier character and its achievements. The 'not fools' are those that (as you say) are giving an unknown company with no track record (yes SOE has an AWFUL track record) a chance. - Syn |

Planetside is almost on equal terms to SWG for me. But with different factors. And yeah planetside is almost dead now because of BFR's. And the core. Not that I dont enjoy playing a BFR or having a good core fight, I can still see the reason it drove 4 servers into extinction. Made combat way to BFR dependent. Either way, SWG and Planetside are deffinently my favorite 2 MMO's, sadly SOE titles, hence both where slaughtered because of unwanted expansions/upgrades. I cant believe planetside even keeps a second server running, I can litteraly /who all and get 4 people online at 1 time at most. Litteraly a ghostown server. SOE even lowered the maximum server population and the "continent maximum population" So you would get continent locks easier to make the immersion of more people fighting then there really is. I miss the day I could go onto SWG and enjoy a good time, I could explore forever on that game, just going to player cities or making a player city, or buying a specific item because it coudl only be found at a known merchants home. Or even form a piket hunting group which I if done right you could make like 1million an hour. The places you went for gear that you frequented because you know the guy was good at crafting. SWG had the best community ever, and SOE raped it by making player crafted items useless. They made bufflines extinct, they made it a crappy FPS/Gears knockoff, which is TERRIBLE if your on a low end rig. And lastly they butchered every single class and put "levels" in, and what made it the worst. When I spent grinding 31 professions just to get my unlock because it had to be in an order, I login one day to see players doing quests to become jedi, and then later after that they can choose jedi at there damn login screen!!! Anyway its been a while since ive vented my frustration to SOE, so anyways SO$, Go make some more DVD and blueray players and leave MMO's the Ef alone. I am waiting to see how fast they butcher there new and upcoming MMORPG "The Agency"

)-=, Underneath vanguards uber crappiness, its a amazing idea poorly, very poorly implemented by a stoner.

The usual ex-SWG "we hate Sony" crowd now under the banner of Darkfall? I feel sorry for Aventurine after you find out its just another game with ups and downs. Back to the topic, started just by another DF troll. As VG is already a dead game, proven by numerous threats at launch of AoC and WAR Beside us poor dummies are much too scared playing against real men in virtual games like you. |

So you don't think that what is currently happening with EQ2 could ever cross into Vanguard? Last I read they had initially said they were not implementing it into EQ but went back on thier word...and you trust these people even still? Good luck! You'll be needing it.

Sure it is probable that marketplace will come to all SoE games. But I'm afraid I just don't see how this is a big deal. I've got no interest in the marketplace thing and it really has no impact on me. I see a number of threads about how it is the end of everything but frankly I just think it is a bunch of people that like to bitch. If you don't like marketplace just ignore it the game hasn't changed in any way... If you want to spend extra money buying stuff from the marketplace go to it.... Frankly I don't see how it adds or subtracts anything from my gameplay.... |

Your in the minority there mate. Alot of people believe that MMOs should be a level playing field where trappings from real life (as in real life wealth) should not factor into the game, bar buying the game and/or your subscription fee. - Syn |

If you read my posts its clear that I'm not saying you should play Darkfall. Frankly some Darkfall Hater called all Darkfall fans fools, so the conversation started there. What ensued was me asking why going to an unknown companies game was more foolish than staying with a company that dosn't hesitate to screw its fanbase. Why should you care whats happening in EQ2 and if it transferred to Vanguard - go look at the outraged posts on the EQ2 forum and then read all the Microtranscation threads/blogs dotted around MMORPG.coms General threads. That would be why. Edit: May also want to read up on f2p games and what cashshops do to thier games.... - Syn |

I don't like cashshops, and I never hope that I would have to use them. This is a reason for me to not play another game that I like. This is based on prejudgement, but I didn't want to get to involved in 9dragons or Archlord. And if this means, if, Vanguard will get a cashshop in the sence I feel they are used in other games. Maybe I'll quit or not. But still that would be because I don't want to play the game. But as long as I like the game I will play it. Meaning that I won't play a game because of a characters sentimental value, or because it has nice gear, just as long as the game is something I feel like playing.
(This I just said is blah, blah, I know that..) I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

As far as I know, it will start with a limited European release since they haven't found a distributor to pick it up anywhere else. But I'm sure it would be available via download. I followed this game closely for quite awhile but it took too many turns for the worst and I lost interest. There's one person in our VG gulid that will try it as he's interested in the crafting, but he's also resolved to never leaving the city because he wants nothing to do with the Kiddy PvP Gank-squads. |
