AOC most 1 year warhammer ost 1 year
darkfall 1 moth
problem?
1 month? That just beyond stupid. Darkfall has been failing to meet announced development dates for years. This latest date is nothing more than a dart thown at a barn after the most recent failure. There's not a shred of evidence that anything will happen on January 23rd. AoC and WAR both pushed back and delayed due to tester feedback during large public betas. Darkfall has yet to do anything but Alpha testing. Hundreds of testers involved amounts to only about 50 players online at any given time. -Myth- |

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included. |

If the game releases on Jan 22 feature complete with the hundreds of skills and other planned mechanics balanced to the point to make the game at least playable, then the Averntine team should be hailed as genuises. Implementing everything they have planned without an extensive open beta period to properly vet it all out would be truly amazing. As has been mentioned before, people (lots of them), are the best way to root out the problems in your design. They seem to be not taking this approach. Somehow, though, I don't think we will be calling them "genuises" after the 22nd. I wish them the best of luck in this and truly hope they can pull it off.

it will still be here, a battle of what "Feature complete" actually means one side defending the lack of some of the previously mentioned features while the other state they were lied to about the features. |

I think those that think this forum will be "normal" after release didn't spend much time in the Vanguard, PotBS, AoC, or WAR forums before release and the months afterward.
Vanguard's forums have returned to a mostly "normal" forums now, but it was many, many months afterwards before that happened.
The only way that the forum would be "normal" after release is if 100% of the people that tried it after release loved it and found all the features they were expecting to be 100% complete and to their expectations. Now while it's true that there is a possibility that the above statement may indeed happen... I would be more surprised by that happening than my wife giving birth to a 5-headed hydra. |

It works both way though. Given the checkered past and total atomsphere of mistrust regarding this development, failing to have an open beta will result in many not willing to blindly pay for another potential Dark and Light. I think it's a good bet that Darkfall will have a 1 to 2 week open trial prior to release and allow players to keep their characters. Even if performance initially sucks players will be more likely to pay to keep their head start and continue to play with those they've forged alliances with to early on control server areas. -Myth- |

What is MMORPG going to do when DF comes out? the majority of the people come here to search DF, and most of us wont even be here to talk about it since we'll be playing the game most of the time. Maybe we should retire these DF forums in memory of the busiest times in MMORPG. |

So it's gone from "How can they scam you when you get to try it first?" has become "They hope to let you try it out before you buy?" Nice. Keep 'em comin'. |

We'll do our best. Besides which other MMO has even thought about doing this? But to add to it, I think they said they might allow you to play it first before you buy it only if your a single parent who lives in the western part of the country who's state begins with the letter T. Thats what I heard atleast. |

There are docs online that show they received a grant of a little over $200,000 in 2006. I think it was polarization found it before.
