Good question, I applied to the closed beta myself but haven't heard anything from them in mail form, actually not recieved onbe mail from them after registering and stuff like that. It might be that they have never sent out any information, but ti gives me personally a bad feeling that things isn't as it should in the world of Darkfall. Most developers are eager to show off what they have so people can see what awaits them

This is the most interesting question you raise imo. All games I have seen earlier have had beta leaks. Sure there is some of darkfall on youtube, and you have the beta comments they posted from their testers on their forums. The funny thing is that the comments are almost all 100% positive about everything, And if all the betatesters are super positive about the game why do no the developers release more info or show off the game to the rest of the MMO market. It can be ofc that the beta testers are 100% fanbois/girls, but that would be the biggest and most retarded thing in any MMO's history. In a beta you want people to be critics, you want them to tell you that thinsg isn't perfect. If everything is perfect either you have done everything right or you have the wrong test group. Most likely the last part.

Why is NDA still in affect?

NDA might be lifted once they go open beta, if that ever happens. Again if everyone who plays it loves the game why not lift the NDA so the rest of the community can see what awaits us?

Why haven't they talked about a trial?

I would assume trial accounts isn't normally the first thibg you can get, they have the inital box sale first as that generates money, most MMO's I have seen have offered a trial, but usually after the initial sales are over.

Why is there no information about Open Beta?

Maybe they want to keep things secret until they surprise the community with open beta, or maybe they have no clue when they will be able to push out the open beta. Time will show, but the silence from the devs of Darkfall, doesn't really raise people's faith in the game.

There are just too many unanswered questions.

I won't say the game will fail just yet, the game might very well succeed, but the silence does have a huge sign of failure waving on top of it. The warning signs for the game to be vaporware or a huge failure is here, and the longer they keep silent about it the more people likely will draw the conclusion themself. Funcom talked too much about how fantastic the game was and that hyped people up to insane amounts, Darkfall has the other approach, the silence alone will make people sceptical to if this game actually can deliver. and that might be a good thing if they release the game and it has like half the content they promised I guess a lot of the fans will be much more forgiving then they were with AoC.

Darkfall will be digital download.. noone has to pre-order.

Trolls will rip it apart no matter what, they don't care about facts all they want to do is rip the game/company they hate in pieces. I assume we will see many more games coming as digital download in the future rather then boxed. I bought my Warhammer pre order as digital download. NOBODY would bitch if the pre order gave you instant access to the game to play and test out before you cancel or keep the pre order.

That's common practice. for any game. I did it for Lord of Of the rings online before I bought it. I placed my pre order than tested out the game.

The bigger the advertisement campaign the worse the game. Look at the recent MMO releases.  Most great games appear out of nowhere and take the market by storm.

If Darkfall has 50k subscribers after 6 months it's a success.  Darkfall is a niche game.
