I think Warhammer Online is a steaming dog turd but this does not mean I think Mythic is incapable of making a good mmo. The production of one bad game does not guarantee that all of their future products will be crap as well. Also remember that Mythic is only as good as the employees that work for it. When Mythic gets round to making its next game it might have different people working for it. |

Well i never cancelled my account just havn't played for awhile, the game has the potential to become good so i guess i just keep on waiting for them to do something spectacular...i did answer their survey they sent me in my email, not sure if anyone else got that. Not at all...they are adding new stuff in patch 1.1 which would help us communicate better. Also they listen to our complains and make the game better like item linking in chat. The game we are playing right now is somewhat in beta phase like most new games. It takes time for them to become good and fun like WoW didn't have a PvP system early on and it took them some time to make it. So again let's recap...the game is very new and should be treated as a very late beta that we bought and pay for and still have fun playing. GJ Mythic! |

Mythic openly admitted that and they're fixing it. They can't just push a button and have it fix itself, these things take time. They saw how well it worked in beta (where people cared less about rp) and assumed it would be the same in retail, which it obviously wasn't.

Mythic has been going down hill since their Trials of Atlantis expansion in Dark Age of Camelot. They had a cool idea going for a while, Romans in space, Imperator, but they canned that when EA bought them. Now I'm afraid all they're going to be doing is letting DAoC die, never restarting Imperator, and working on WAR until its down to the same 1000 subs as DAoC. RvR was their strength and theres not enough of it in WAR. Way too casual friendly. Come on Mythic, make a DAoC 2, and DON'T screw it up. (kind of impossible, Mythic is the champion of killing good ideas) |

Holy crap you people are morons. You seriously believe these "WOW FANBOIS" really give two shits about Warhammer? It is truly beyond me. I don't understand why people so vehemently hate/love these games and will defend them to the end by spreading what is clearly BS. And the funny thing about it is that Warhammer plays almost identical to the way WoW does, they sometimes feel like the same game. As for the topic at hand. Yeah I pretty much lost all faith in Mythic. Not because Warhammer was necessarily a bad game, I enjoyed the beta and I think most long time beta tester would agree. However, the game in general was just not even close to what it could have been. -The combat became mind bogglingly boring, especially melee classes such as the Witch Hunter who really only used a total of 4 buttons (most of the time you were just spamming one or two). -The death penalty was incredibly stupid. How do you fight a war when the enemy can just get back up in 20 seconds? -Scenarios, no need to say anything else. -And just the gameplay elements from the start. And this was brought up several times in beta, even towards the end. Many beta testers saw this from the start. I remember reading long very well written posts that brought up many of the problems that we see today. Mythic has never wanted to change fundamental gameplay elements (scenarios come to mind) because they invested too much time in building them. I hate to say it but although Mythic has done well in terms of listening to its player base. The game, as far as I am concerned, was a complete failure. Also before anyone claims I am a WoW fanbio, please check my prior posts and maybe read my signature. I've been playing Eve for the past year and half. ------------------- Brothers, we must rise. |

There is plenty of communication in both games from developers. The only difference is one game is delivering and the other is promising to fix the core essential vital mechanics of the game sometime in the future with little to no details about how. My guess is they are just going to overload the game with gear to grind for, much to they dismay of all the people who think this game isn't gear based.

The game continues to get noticeable better as well. All in all a very promising start, and giving how progress is being made, the future is looking bright.
I think the trolls here have to find another target besides Smed Warhammer is doing just fine despite the whinny kids here that must bash the game because its not WoW and they have nothing but time on their hands sitting in front of montior. |

What were the elements they were discussing? I'm merely curious... not calling into question what you said. Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC. |

Still playing WAR in favor of other MMORPGs and enjoying the game. I also like the interaction Mythic is still providing with the community. I don't see any vast inaccuracies in what Mythic said they were trying to do during development and what they delivered. What I do see are people who did not research the game and were expecting something it was never meant to be ('PvP without limits!' etc) That's not to say there are features and mechanics that still need work or implementation. But I see Mythic putting out patches with stuff like dropped classes and features like player statues, so I'm still staying with the game. This game isn't for everyone, but I'm just glad I have more choices now.

Though I do like WAR, I also see where those people are coming from. I found that there was a strange sort of contradiction in WAR: the gameworld is entirely too huge but also too small at the same time: the actual surface area of the different zones is huge, but what is in them is small if you see what I mean. The game does lack a certain amount of content. Making the PvP and RvR linear is an even bigger problem in my view than making linear PvE. I enjoy the PvP and RvR to an extent but after a time it grows a bit boring, especially if I feel that I have to 'grind' for something. This was a negative experience I had in DAoC too. I guess I still hold the 'old fashioned' view that PvP should be just for PvP's sake: the desire to gain a challenge from playing against another player. I don't understand why there always has to be a carrot at the end of the stick for everything you do in more recent MMOs. Back in EvE. Started with BatMUD. Main MMOs have been EvE and DAoC. |
