Gamerankings.com gave an overview of the reviews (now one month old). WOTLK score .... 93.1% on average. Of course the players of other MMO's with empty servers won't agree But let's face it, the competition is nowhere. NOT in professional reviews, NOT in subscriptions (the only valid user rating) and certainly NOT in new techniques used (phasing, tank combat, siege combat, daily heroic and open world PvP quests, to name a few). I am calling the music as best feature. That philharmonic orchestre stands out. The development of WotLK must have costed a fortune.

All the 'WoW is the second coming of Jesus you will see the LIGHT and be SAVED!' fanboys and 'WoW is complete crap and brought nothing but nooby DOOM to our formerly tiny community!' haters can go die in a fire, as far as I'm concerned. I also treat 'professional' reviews with a grain of salt since it's been proven many times over the last twenty or thirty years that good reviews are less earned and more purchased. User reviews on the other hand are usually pretty good, though with some titles you have to weed out the fanboys / haters to get actual, good info (this goes with more than just games too). |

Theres no other mmorpg worth playing out there and its a shame for us who were bored of the WOW format when we quit EQ lol. |

WoW is the most complete , stable , and feature rich MMO out there. Whether you like it or not. Numbers don't lie. |

Guild Wars: Gamespot: 92% In short, who cares. You don't see Guild Wars fans touting it's scores over and over. Good for you if you like WoW but maybe just maybe understand not everyone likes it, shock horror. Same for Guild Wars. |

I can just hear a whole generation of 'Veteran gamers' facepalming in unison and grumbling at 'the state of games today'.

If WoW is played by the most people (8-9mil)how can it be the most hated ?!?
It is not liked the elitist MMO player but they are far far in the minority! Currently playing WoW. |

Well, if you look at metacritics.com, WOTLK is 92 and MOM is 88. If you look at gamerankings.com .. WOLK is 93% and MOM is 88%. I am sure MOM is a good game and I planned to play it after i exhausted the content of WOTLK. However, there is no denial that WOTLK is great .. both in review and in sales. I have loads of fun playing it. It has the best content i have seen in an MMO. Very fun scripted quests, phasing (wow .. BIG changes in the world), vehicles and loads of new stuff to get. |

WOW is the McDonalds of MMOs. Dumbed down, generified, and mass-marketed. |

If I was not pvp orientated, I would surley pick LoTRO over WoW any day.... If I was 14, well then I may want WoW's High School Musical atmosphere |

Wotlk is made by one of the largest gaming companies who is owned by one of the biggest media companies in the world. They have 11 million subs worldwide MoM is made by a small indy company and have maybe 500k subs worldwide. (Yea LotrO have Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Russian servers aswell) Considering this I think its pretty impressive that Turbine managed to release an expansion that rivals what Activision-Bllizzard have made with their expansion. Two good games with 2 good expansion. I just wish that blizzard whould start to evolve a bit instead and add something new... If WoW = The Beatles |

Although Wrath of the Lich King brought about the best patch since the game started (improved graphics, game speed, etc.) I don't think it would be fair to say that this release is better than World of Warcraft in 2004. To me, this takes second place, but is close behind. I think there was a lot of momentum that helped that score. http://www.allaboutgod.com/ |

That's absolutely disgusting and shameful, to think the industry has fallen this far. A parasite of a game that release virtually the same expansion they did 2 years ago getting a 9.3? The only thing they did beside raise the level cap yet again, and making you grind yet again, was steal a few ideas out of Warhammer and LotRO and shove them into its conglomoration of unoriginality. |

The MMO genre as a whole is a running joke considering a 5+ year old game is so dominant. |
You know I've come to a realization in the last couple of days concerning WoW. For a while there I use to think I hated the game. But the truth is I don't, what I hate is having to hear about it all the time like it's the end all be all of gaming......Like there is nothing else that can ever possibly come out to introduce variety into the MMo market again.
Variety has all of a sudden become a bad think in this business.....and that's just straight up sad to hear. If you ask me what this industry needs is an enema.....

WoW is the most hated by sandbox players. Themepark players vastly outnumber sandbox it seems. So what? Just cause your corner is bigger, who really cares? Its not really the game for most people, its the type of game. WoW just gets hit the most because its the biggest target. I hate WOW cause I hate themepark games, I could care less what its rating and population are.....

Look at the number of reviews used. This is an average. Numbers aside, Blizzard can not compete with the quality, amount of free content a year, scripting of quests/instances and dynamic content, nor can WOTLK compete with the grand-daddy of all dungeons, Moria. If you do not agree, i would take a guess that your standards are simply lower, and thats fine, becouse its all about fun anyway. Turbine also does not just use expansions as top level carrots as well, expansions are really expansions, they are for ALL level ranges, not just the end. Also: Quiz time! How many things in WOTLK are taken from the original LOTRO game?

I think that's proof that game reviewer's are NOT bought. At least not all of them. And this was only a rumor, the company who released the reviewer said the decision had nothing to do with the review he gave. I'd be willing to bet that professional reviewers are a lot less biased than your average player is. |

I came back to Wow just to see the expansion, I played to level 77 and then I got tired of it. The expansion is actually good, especially the music. I think the reviews are kinda right, I mean, they've added a lot of new content for the players to do and if you're a big fan, you will probably like it. Thing is, it's to easy. I mean, after two days of Not rushing I had reached level 74. Then one or two days later I heard that a guild had already cleared the first new raid instance. I mean, come on.. Some may like getting things for minimal challenges but I don't. I stopped at level 77, will maybe go back some other time, hopefully there will be some challenges when I get back. |
